SCS Adopt #738: Greyhound

Second Chance Shelter wrote:Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. All of our animals are special and deserve a chance to be happy with an owner that will care for them. The question is: are you ready to love them?

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
This kiddo came from a rather conspiratorial town. The owners claimed they had to leave for undisclosed reasons and needed to leave their precious dog behind. While they love their dog, they know that they will be cared for well outside of their... rather odd company.

The arid winds moved the sand and sparse shrubs softly whistling along with the howls of the coyotes further out in the desert. It was pitch black the only apparent light for miles was the sliver of moon which shined above. Zim pushed open the screen door wandering out into the yard. Zim was off to go retrieve the toy he had forgotten in his race to escape the stifling summer heat. Zim crossed the yard aware of every snapping twig and rustle of the brush. His home was an eerie place but then again what else could be expected from the infamous Roswell, New Mexico. I mean its unofficial slogan was "Like regular Mexico with more UFO's". Aha Zim thought as he spotted his familiar toy tucked within a nearby patch of brush. He squeezed in to grab it and froze. A strange wheezing sound had started up as though something closeby was unable to breathe. Then he saw it. It looked like a human almost if it hadn't been for the sense of wrongness in the proportions. Its limbs were too long and seemed too thin to carry its strange body and its long fingers ended in claws. Its disturbed eyes reflected in the moonlight and it let out a long snarling wheeze as its head turned in Zim's direction. For a moment their eyes met. Zim thought he was going to die right there. Then a male voice cried out "Skully over here" and the creature vanished.

Her favorite color is blue, so blue with a bell.
Prompt:
Queenie was out one night, doing her business, when she heard a noise from the woods. Being a Greyhound, she was able to run fast enough to clear the fence surrounding the backyard. Running into the woods, she came upon a canine shape. It was black and had eyes that appeared to be red. She swears it was a demon dog.

The rain outside battered down against the hard roof of the house, the wind whipping in an unusual pattern. Something else was off. The noise sounded similar to a vixen's scream. No foxes lived in the area, which put the greyhound off even more. Sticking his muzzle outside the dog door, the rain didn't soak his muzzle, but more so just coat it. Pulling his muzzle back in, he thought to himself, "Why did my muzzle only get coated by the rain? It should be soaked! And what is that noise? There aren't any foxes here! There hasn't been for centuries." Confused, he exited the house. A spiritual figure of a fox was standing there. Standing in shock, the fox barked, then it's icy-blue, snow-dappled figure disappeared into the forests in front of the greyhounds home. Standing there, his fur was barely soaked, considering it was almost pouring out.
"Mane! Get your tail in here now!" Looking back at the house, Mane went inside. Shaking off his barely-wet fur, he curled up inside his bed. "Wow. That was... unnatural," he though as he drifted into a comforting sleep.

Name: Gizmo
Sex: Male
Collar: similar to this? Can be simplified I just like the style and that it's blue and neutral.
Prompt: [250/250 words]
Gizmo's life changed forever when he found himself at something called a 'rescue'. He'd never heard of such a place before and the people seemed friendly but once they arrived his family left - and they didn't take him with them.

There were other dogs, sure, but he wasn't overly interested in them. When dinnertime came he didn't want to eat and even when the people picked up his leash he didn't care to go near it, knowing that if his people were ever going to take him home it would be them arriving looking for him - these people wouldn't know where to search.

Willing to try anything and everything to pique his interest, they picked up a laser pointer and turned it on. That eerie, disembodied light jogged his memory of a very different day during which he had encountered another form of life.

He'd been out in the field, frolicking, and a strange light had lifted him into the sky. Inside of the strange ship he had found his family, seemingly asleep while the weird creatures looked them over, taking things which smelled of his humans. He had no way of knowing this, but they were samples for testing purposes.

He felt himself begin falling asleep and when he had woken up he was laying out in the yard with his humans. They looked fairly disheveled and when they awoke their moods were particularly poor. It was not long after that event that he found himself at the rescue.

"I had many supernatural experiences in my life, but there will always be this one experience that will haunt me.

One night I was home alone since my owner had to work late and my sister Bella was at a sleepover.
The house was quiet and I wasn't used to it. It creeped me out, the house felt cold and drafty.
I was playing with my ball when I accidentally kicked it into the pantry.
I chased after it, hoping to get it before it disappeared into the darkness.

My ball was lost, and I was too scared to go get it.
I looked around, trying to find another toy. But my ball was my favourite.
I decided to gather up as much courage as I can and went straight into the pantry.

Darkness surrounded me, it felt like I was blind.
I walked around until I tripped over my ball.
I was laying on the ground, and I felt something breathing on my back.
I turned my head and this entity that looked like a charred skull lunged at me.

I was so scared I got up as quick as I could and ran out of the pantry.
Leaving my ball - and my dignity- behind in the darkness with the entity.
I slammed the door close and never looked back.

I told Bella when she came home, I called it
The Cinder Man.
After that experience, I have never stepped a paw in the pantry ever again."

Prompt: Leah couldn’t understand why her previous family were so adamant about their company. It wasn’t like they were harming anything. Maybe a couple vases, but that was it. They always seemed to keep her company when her humans were all away. She couldn’t directly see them, but she could feel that she wasn’t alone. They’d play hide and seek often, though Leah was generally always the one hiding. When they found her, something would move next to her hiding place.
ImageImageImageImage

When it first started happening, it irked her. The wind couldn’t move a chair or a rug, nor could it create sounds like footsteps. Especially when all the windows were sealed shut, and no fans were left on while the humans were away. Eventually it just became the norm for Leah, so she got use to it all. Her cowering in fear just turned into a game for her and her company.
