Lore Foxes are assistants used by magic-users in libraries and act as wonderful historians and messengers, gathering up and hoarding scrolls. They survive on knowledge itself, and thus are constantly searching to learn more and more to keep healthy and content.

All lore foxes carry a source of knowledge with them, as it is necessary for their summoning and often they place their favorite stories on these blank books/pages. These can be anything that can provide a story (within reason); including books, scrolls, etched/carved tablets, papers, carved jewelry, origami with writing on it, ect. for a more modern take, things like laptops-ipods, cell phones, ebooks,ect are also allowed.

It... was just a small smudge and Zeke hadn't meant to do it. He really hadn't.
He had only wanted to help roll the scroll up for his master so that the manuscripts would be ready to be presented to the emporer.
But, he'd gone and put his paw straight into the wet ink of the emperor's favourite daughter's name and now it looked more like a swear than a royal moniker.
"Good boy Zeke," the miserable fox startled at the sound of the librarian's voice and realized with horror that his master was gathering up the scrolls. Zeke yipped and tried to lunge forwards to knock the scrolls from his master's arms, but the librarian had already turned and Zeke ended up face first on the floor.

"Well, this is a right fine mess."
Zeke hunkered lowet to the ground, ears positivly falling off they were drooped so low.
"I'm guessing you smudged the princess's name by accident when you were rolling up the scrolls?"
Zeke nodded weakly.
The librarian closed his eyes with a sigh.
"You'll have to be much more careful next time. When I get us a new job."

Arcanist had a friend named Scholar once. Scholar was the smarter of the two, outmatching Arcanist in any competition of the mind. They were also the faster, stronger, and better. Over time, Arcanist grew resentful and jealous of Scholar, who had in turn begun to divert more and more time from their friendship, growing to be arrogant and exasperated. Rather than work things out, Arcanist made the biggest mistake of her life: she looked for revenge. And when she was finished, there was nothing left of Scholar.

Now Arcanist tries her best to make things up. Even though she'll live in eternal guilt, she works her best at learning, constantly reading and swallowing books as Scholar had. Created sculptures and little memorials for her lost friend. Nothing can truly fix the hole she had punctured in her own life, but she patched it up as much as possible and moves on.

When Amaranth was but a young (very, very stubborn) Lore Fox, she made a very rash, hot-headed decision. She decided to try and find a way to survive without knowledge. She made it about two weeks before very nearly withering away and realizing that -oh shoot im gonna die.

Though she has since 'recovered', Amaranth is very weak, and will literally faint if she overexerts herself, she has moved on from that phase in life and now searches for knowledge as eagerly as the rest of her species.

Tell me about a time they made a mistake, and how they fixed it or moved past it:
Dia is a fox that specializes almost exclusively in translation. Most of their book is filled with words and their meaning in as many other languages as possible. They pride themselves in being an excellent translator and for being fluent in a number of languages that grows by the day. However, no one's perfect, and there's one particularly incident they'd rather never think about again where they called a very important ancient being a very rude thing on accident. It ruined their magician's ritual and, while they have long been forgiven by the mage, they are determined not to make the same mistake.

Edit: Aa, this was a hard one to judge - I loved a lot of the ideas you fellas had and I sincerely appreciate the effort you all put into your concepts ;v; I wish everyone could be a winner ;v;

I will be making a runner up design for Blaytz, because I really loved their entry too and thought it was a very unique take on the prompt!

I really loved how you expressed Zeke's emotions through your writing as well as clearly presenting the relationship present between him and his master. I also like how you interpreted the prompt through the situation described and opened up a path to further development by having a sort of open ending - I enjoyed reading your concept!
