How did they get their wings? Well, it is said that one should never be born in the forests near Imania, and unfortunately, Alkino was. As she lay there with her sibling, waiting for her mother to return, a charm of small fairies came across Alkino and her sister. They sat there watching over them, chittering in their strange language about how cute the little foxleps were, and gently petting their soft fur. When they realized the kits' mother was returning, they gave each kit a gift: Alkino got wings, and her sister got a horn. They said that these would mark the kits to any fairy who came across them, keeping them from harm by their kind, and would bring them good luck as they grew older.
And, it has proven true. Alkino is incredibly lucky, and often sees the small fairies in the trees, whispering and looking down on her as she walks among them. She has never feared a fairy in her life, thanks to the kind souls who watched over her while her mother was out getting food. She freely invites them to ride on her back, and they often do; their chittering voices a reminder of that day long ago.
