The ocean is her escape. It always has been, ever since she ran away to the sea to escape her old life as a kit.

Muirgen was born in a smallish isolated fishing village by the sea. It was alright in itself. Though the village was never rich, it managed to do well enough from fishing and trading. There were other kits. But Muirgen’s parents were incredibly constraining and harsh, and they mistreated her. It only got worse over time. Combined with other factors, it threw her life into turmoil, and she knew she had to get away, and being a kit she didn’t know what to do besides run away, so she fled to the open sea, to start anew. She quickly boarded a small ship sailing out of the harbor and never looked back. Years passed. Eventually she would become a sailor and join the crew she is a part of now. Now she

I looked out my window and smiled as I watched the sun set above the ocean. Sadly, this was my last day here in my beautiful vacation home until I have to go back to the city. No lakes or rivers were there. The closest thing there were to a river is a large puddle on the street. I love the ocean so much, it reminds me of my home when I was a child. We lived in Florida, on a sandy beach right next to the sea. I loved that place so much and I was devastated when we moved. It felt like a part of me was taken away.
I sigh and walk back inside, plopping onto my bed. I relax and listen to the sounds of the ocean. I feel like I'm home, I look around the room at the beautiful sunset wallpaper on the wall. I look at the paintings on the wall I've painted. I remember doing most of them. My favorite one is the silhouette of a beach and a sunset over the ocean. I roll onto my side and quickly fall asleep, ready for the flight home tomorrow.

Calder loves how quiet lakes are. There's no one to yell at him or stress him out. The only noises are the quiet lapping of the water on the rocks and the occasional loon flying overhead. There's nothing and no one to bother him. He's completely alone. It's incredibly peaceful.

Calder has always been a shy kalon. He gets nervous easily around other kalons, and his feelings are easily hurt. Even with those he's close to, he's still soft-spoken. He worries that he'll accidentally offend one of his friends. With those he likes, he can be quite kind and sweet.

When he goes to a lake, he doesn't have to worry anymore. There is one in particular that he loves to visit. It is surrounded by a beautiful forest, with emerald green trees. The shore is covered in steep rocks on which he can sit and watch the gentle waves.

Calder spends his time by the lake doing things that he would never do anywhere else. He tries new things, practises things he's bad at, takes risks, and enjoys being himself. It's a relief for him to know that no one's watching, and that it's okay if he messes up.

Another thing he does only in the security of the lake is play with stuffed animals. He loves stuffed animals... but don't tell anyone, because it's still a secret. He has an ever growing collection that he stashes in a hideout next to the lake. He enjoys cuddling with them - they're so soft and adorable!

Calder absolutely loves lakes. They're his silent escape from a loud world. It's his own little corner of the universe, where there are no pressures on him. Aside from the woodland creatures, he's all by himself. He can sit calmly in personal reflection as he watches the sun set over the tranquil waves.
