Ame has always been a very sick child, most likely weak enough to be blown away in the wind. Even so, he strove to be like a normal child who could run outside and play. His parents and older siblings would always stop him, except for one. His older sister Nui loved to take him outside to play, and to visit the shrine of their god, Uara, who was believed to have brought water to their barren lands. He would often pray there to himself, in hopes that they could help him to heal. That day never came however, and Nui blames herself for disobeying her parent's wishes.

When someone dies in their village, they're released into the water in hopes that Uara will guide their soul to safety.

He found himself wandering in a foreboding, inky blue. With each footstep came a little ripple. He never thought that he would be arriving here so soon. And so, he walked, and walked... It felt lonely, and cold. 'Uara?' he'd say feebly, once or twice. On the third, he was cut off with an answer. A low hum rang out in the silence. 'I see you're finally here.' The voice would pipe up from below, a bit of sorrow in it. Upon taking a look, it was a man standing upside down on the other side of the water. 'I apologize, little Ame,' he began, pacing about as if in thought, 'nature has it's ways. But to take you so young is cruel.' The man stopped to contemplate once more. 'Lean down.' He instructed as he took a knee of his own. Ame wearily complied, and in that instance, he was pulled through to the other side! 'Normally,' he began with a sigh. 'I wouldn't bend the rules so. But such a sweet child does not deserve this. Come now, and live with me.'

Now, Ame resides with Uara and every time someone of his village passes he's there to guide their soul to peace. Some choose to exchange a few words, while others prefer to pass over in silence. Whichever they chose, Ame was glad that he was given another chance at life and purpose, and that he could aide in something so sacred.


It reconnects him with those of his village, even if sometimes it's melancholy. That is why he loves the water so.

THE MEETING
Chiharu shivered, looking out onto the dark sea. The ocean gave her a sense of comfort, the soft splashing of the tide against the sand was what made her love it. However, tonight it was a bit chilly and she was re-thinking her decisions. As Chiharu was about to step inside, her eyes caught a glimpse of what seemed to be a light coming from a... ship? She immediately turned around, squinting her eyes and trying to get a clearer view. The ship drew a bit closer to shore, so she was able to make out a slightly blurry face. Immediately, her heart skipped a beat and she instinctively gasped. It was a woman - a sailor at that. She was incredibly beautiful, and the look in the sailor's eyes gave Chiharu a rush of adrenaline. Chiharu sighed, disappointed knowing that she wouldn't be able to figure out who this mystery sailor was now. She gave one last look as she turned back, clenching her chest and promising herself she would find her again.
THE DISCOVERY
A week had passed since Chiharu & the sailor's "meeting." She went to the nearest fishing town, and asked many, many people about this woman. She did her best describing her - although most of the time the best detail she could give was that she was incredibly beautiful. At last, after days of asking she found that a baker who lived on the edge of the town knew who she was. "Ah yes.. I believe you're talking about Kiara.," the baker replied after Chiharu's brief description. Her heart clenched in mention of the sailors name, and responded quickly. "Do you know where I could possibly meet her?" She asked desperately. The baker chuckled, and responded,"If you really want to find Kiara, it's best to look for Jack. She's never without him, as he's her husband. Jack often roams around this town and the next one over." Chiharu's heart sank, the word husband echoed in her mind. She thanked the baker, and quickly left the town to go to her home.
THE ACCEPTANCE
Although Chiharu was distraught upon this discovery, she would keep visiting the ocean in hopes of seeing the sailor, although she knows that the sailor will never love her back. However, she loves the ocean now not because it brings comfort, but because it reminds her of her first love.
