prompt:
The crowd roared in the cramped, dark basement. Mattias could hear his heart pounding in his chest. Adrenalin coursed through his blood as he circled the tight arena made by the ecstatic crowd. He felt powerful in this moment, with his head raised high. " Aaaannd, the next opponent to face this beast of a man,"the announcer called out in his crisp, clear voice, " is the underdog everyone south of the bridge has been rooting for! The quick, the mean....South-side Demon!" Half of the claustrophobic room erupted in cries and parted to let the challenger approach the circle.
The kid couldn't have been more than 20 years old. Mattias raised one bushy eyebrow as the kid raised his fists. The "Demon" turned and looked at Mattias," This is it Blood Moon. There ain't no way you can beat me!" Mattias simply crossed his arms and glared menacingly at the kid. " Alright! Alright," the announcer danced in the middle of the ring, " This is the first time in many years that we get to see a north verses south match. Place your bets now people, this is going to be good!" The announcer stepped back to the edge of the mosh pit. Mattias and the Demon stepped up to the center and bumped fists. The kid smirked and whispered, " This is the end of your reign, old man." Mattias just snorted and started walking to his side with his back turned to the kid. " Tensions are high tonight! Lets have a good match," the announcer sung," Aaaaaannd....fight!"
The Demon launched at Mattias immediately,
Good, Mattias thought,
at least this will be quick. The Demon took one powerful right hook at Mattias' head. He dodged it, but barely. The kid was faster than he thought. The kid tried to follow it with an uppercut, but that was dodged as well. The Demon took a step back expecting a retaliation, but none came. "Quit playing with him!", a voice said behind Mattias' back. Mattias did not falter, he stood his ground and waited. The kid came in again, this time with a kick to Mattias' left calf. Mattias was surprised by it's strength. He felt his knee buckle forward, but he stayed upright. Then, from the right came another hook, which grazed Mattias' cheek. The crowd roared. Mattias sighed, " Alright kid, my turn."
Once again the Demon sprang back, and put up his guard. Mattias began circle around the Demon. He knew that the Demon was right-handed and would probably be expecting an attack from the right, but lucky for Mattias, he was a lefty. Mattias took one step toward the Demon and positioned his right fist and leg in front. The Demon held up his guard in response. Mattias swung at him with a right hook, which the kid easily dodged. Then, using his left leg, Mattias swung a knee into the kid's stomach, a move that would be illegal anywhere else. The Demon stumbled back gasping for breath. One of his hand clutched his chest while the other was raised to protect him. The sound of the crowd was almost unbearable with both shouts of encouragement and booing. Mattias circled him as the kid recovered, he didn't like attacking enemies when they were down, a decision considered by most to be very stupid.
The Demon raised his head and shot a glare at Mattias. Sweat dripped down his forehead and his chest heaved, but the kid was determined. The Demon flew forward again, trying to take advantage of Mattias' lowered guard. Mattias sidestepped the attack and shoved him into the crowd. The audience loudly cheered and shoved the Demon back into the circle. The kid tried again to launch himself at Mattias. Mattias ducked under the Demon's hook and landed one of his own on the Demon's right cheek. The crowd cheered louder. Mattias tackled the kid to the ground and sat across his stomach. The Demon glared at Mattias in defiance. " Do yourself a favor kid," Mattias wound up his left arm for a final punch, " Get out of the underground while you still can." With that, Mattias brought down the match-ending strike across the Demon's left cheek.

extra:
A weaselly looking man appeared by Mattias' shoulder, " Good fightin champ, that was a quick one!" "Hello, Benjen." Mattias replied in a deflated voice. " Oh come on, be a bit happier to to see your paycheck."
" Yeah," Mattias said with a bit of anger creeping into his voice," And when will I actually be able to keep one."
" If you keep going like this I'd say 15..20 more matches, Depending on the pay of course."
" Can't wait."
" C'mon now, it's for our cause!"
"
Your cause, I was just the one stupid enough to fall for it."
" Exactly! It's not my fault you were a gullible teenager! Besides, you can't quit on me now. Think of your sweet, innocent little girl. I would hate to have to use her for encouragement, but if you give up on me.... I may have no choice." Mattias' blood began to boil with rage, "
Don't bring my daughter into this!" " Hey, hey. Chill out big guy! Fight me right now and your precious little girl may not wake up tomorrow." With that, Benjen smirked over his shoulder as he stalked away with the rest of the crowd to the upstairs bar. Mattais growled under his breath and turned to use the loading dock exit. Some fans whispered words of encouragement as the Blood Moon passed by. Mattias remained stoic as all manners of torture ran through his head. He burst out of the crowded basement, and took a deep breath of fresh air. Stars struggled to shine over the bright city lights.
How many more matches, Mattias thought,
15...20. I can handle this, I have to.(271)
