unfortunately I have to drop out for this magnificent darling ahhh
a lot of things have been happening since this new year began between my grandmother being hospitalized (she's fine now and should be back home soon thankfully, but until she is my mother has to be there pretty much every day) and a lot of worries and I thought I would finally have some time today but there was an ice storm or something and the power died for several hours and then after it came back on my mom decided not to tell me my aunt was coming today to check on my grandma so that surprise sort of threw me for a loop and really changed my plans and it turns out I did not have enough time to complete this today after all

the prompt was a unique and wonderful one too and I'm sorry I didn't have enough time to properly work with it and get out my idea

very ancient??? Left over from a long forgotten time, made a lot of mistakes, lived in cave near town, became known as a spooky cave monster to be feared? Maybe town sacrificed things in hopes it would keep him at bay without knowing he's gentle and would never hurt anyone anymore?
Maybe caused the extinction of his first time, but too scared to accept it and make it right? Perhaps haunted by the souls of those his actions killed and keeps trying to escape them and run from them because he can't being himself to face the ruin of his home again yet, but the only way to stop it is to go to cave of ancestors and apologize and then go back and do the burial rites and things like that of those he lost? Too scared to go back and see all he loved gone because he was a selfish naive idiot and can't see the damage of what he's done?? Terrified of what he's done? Hates himself for it and cannot face?
Would definitely turn back time and fix it if he could

Whispers. Voices. Things in his head. Screaming, crying, crawling. They won't get out. They won't leave. Get out. Why won't they get out? Leave. Leave. Why won't they leave? Leave. Can't think, can't breath can't-

Apparitions before his eyes

Time. One would think that it could heal all wounds, but it doesn't. Wounds fester with time if left untreated, not fixed, unsolved. They begin to rot and twist, to grow larger, wider, faster, not slowly, and smaller, until they fade.

Guilt was not much different. It didn't wane if left unresolved, it only grew until completely consumed.

There was no greater guilt that he had ever felt than the guilt of being the one left over, the one to survive, after all of his people were long gone. So many were more deserving, no- all were more deserving than he to be chosen to live forever. Why couldn't it have been one of them? He had ruined them, he didn't deserve this. He brought nothing to this earth but sorrow. Perhaps this was his punishment, perhaps whatever gods there were thought death would be a kindness for him that he did not deserve. Perhaps they thought that was a mercy he didn't deserve.

- lives in a village on a faraway planet very similar to earth

- there is a creature / being thing that was believed to haunt the streams ( all the streams are connected to each other but not connected to any other body of water )

- creature feeds on children's and elders' [ fear / misery / despair / hopelessness ]

- the number seven was associated with the creature and was considered the number of death

- there was a kit ( male ) that was pure and innocent

- kit was playing a game with other kits in a forest

- they were not supposed to go into the forest, even the strongest & smartest warriors disappeared and never came back

- the kits convinced him to join the game in the forest

- he got separated / lost and stumbled upon a stream

- the stream was swirling black and he thought it was special / magical

- was really thirsty / thought he would get powers from the stream

- drank from it and then as the water went down to his stomach it felt like the water came alive and started branching out into the rest of his body

- it was that evil creature / being thing and it 'corrupted' him

- he found the village and the other kits and villagers were gaping at him

- he came home and his mother shrieked, calling him 'monster! monster! monster!'

- saw his reflection in glass, he had changed from a normal kit into a beast

- the village banished him into the unknown lands that had been claimed 'too dangerous' to explore / civilize

- he traveled from village to village, traveling also planet to planet ( the villagers can cast a bubble around themselves and travel in space but it takes a lot of energy / people have died from it )

- every village was terrified of him and threw him out

- grew spiteful over time

- began to stick closer to streams and became more and more corrupted and now it was not just his body, but his mind & soul as well

- eventually embodied the creature / being and tried to lure other kits and elders to the forests and streams ( each planet had a forbidden forest and the streams were all bad in this sector / system of planets, they don't know / can't go to other sectors / systems

- he was more corrupted and evil / worse than the creature started and also more powerful

- because he was more powerful he began to corrupt plants in the forest

- now no one else was corrupted by him, they just died when they came into contact with him

- fell asleep in a stream and that point exactly where he slept was where the 7 streams connected

- woke up in another sector / system on a different planet

- the people who inhabited that planet were not effected by the corruption / creature, at the most they just got sick but no one died from it

- everyone was a little scared of him

- he didn't want people to cast him out so he kept his past / why he was like this a secret

- whenever too many people got suspicious / asked too many questions he fleed to a different village ( the villages couldn't communicate to each other so the next village wouldn't also be suspicious right away )

- after he went to all the villages on a planet he went to the next planet and the cycle continued

- this is how he spends pretty much the rest of his life
