For as long as he could remember, every mirror in the house had been covered by a billowing sheet or a thick comforter, he went several years into his life before even seeing his own reflection. He was never sure why his parents had done this, but by the time he'd grown enough to make his own decisions about them, it was too late and the damage was already done. Samuel couldn't see his own reflection without squealing, and never actually purchased a mirror for his own home. The small one in the bathroom was quickly plastered over with some wallpaper to ensure no accidental glances.

If you asked him, he couldn't even quite articulate WHY he was so frightened by the reflective surfaces. There were just so many options! That something spooky might pop up behind him, that his own reflection might come alive and move on it's own, that it might shatter and cut him with the sharp shards... who knew?! They were just so dangerous!

Many people tried to change his opinion on the useful objects, but even a small hand-mirror is enough to send Samuel into a spiral of terror. Due to this, he often has breakdowns in public, and most who have seen him more than once think he's quite strange and may even be a bit afraid of him. He's fine as long as he's at home, but refuses to even use the 'mirror mode' on his phone to look at himself. If you asked him to describe himself, he'd really struggle, but would also say that not looking at himself has really upped his self-esteem over the years.

Kalon name: Soht, but her friends call her Spook. Soht is pronounced like Sought, but faster.
Irrational fear: Soht is absolutely terrified of bees and other stinging and flying insects. So much so that she's primarily nocturnal.

Extra, but it's mostly just information: Soht was originally going to be given a much longer name. Everyone warned her parents that it would do more harm than good, so they abbreviated it. The nickname of Spook is only used after she tells her friends of the name her parents initially wanted to use-- Spooks of Halloween Town. She doesn't take well to new entities of any kind, preferring to hide if someone unfamiliar approaches unless someone close to her is introducing her to them. Soht has never been violent, and prefers fleeing to fighting. Her Melissophobia comes from an unfortunate encounter with a type of Asian hornet when she was younger. She's around 17" high at the shoulder, the size of an F1 Savannah cat.
