Rumor:
There's a fresh rumour going around the streets of London. When the sun sets, you'll never know when exactly, a ghost will pass on the Underground, pale as the moon air cold from their presence. If you see it you must let them get in first, let them take a seat or it will look at you, eyes piercing right through you. Then you will know - your next ride will take you straigt to your doom. There is a very simple solution though, just take the next tube and let them leave without even looking at you.
What actually happened:
Simply put Sabina works in musical theathre, often preforming duing the nightly hours for the show to have an 'athmosphere'. She wants to get home as soon as possible, taking the tube, with all her make-up and costume on. The play she's performing in has her playing a part of the grieving ghost, who's haunting the main character for his past sins. Sabina just wants to get home and relax in a bubble bath after giving her all on the stage, is that so wrong? She's aware of the rumour but for now seen nothing but contradictions to it, people asking for a photo with the Underground Ghost, her shamelessly plugging-in her Instagram and inviting to see the play.

Name: Dawn
Rumor:

When Dawn walked the streets, Kalons fled away at every chance - a newcomer might think she was ill, or something. In truth, she'd been doomed by a rumor spawned when Dawn was but a young Kalon. The townsfolk all agreed on one thing: the odd-looking Kalon had killed her entire family, mainly because she was definitely a witch or crazy person of some sort. Why else would she dress the way that she did, or have such uniquely strange eyes? When the entire family - aside from Dawn herself, of course, all but a child then - was found dead, the words scurried and flew and soon she was one of the most infamous Kalons of the small town. None would go near her for fear that they would be next if they did something to trigger her wrath. Even the children whispered of how the girl on the outskirts of the forest cast spells and if you were naughty, she'd drag you in to sacrifice you to the trees.

What actually happened:

It was a frosty fall night, and Dawn's parents had just tucked her, as well as her older sister and younger brother, comfortably into their little beds. Her mind was wandering safely toward dreams when she heard something that reminded her of the time that she'd dropped a glass while trying to be grown up and pour her own milk, and her father had reprimanded her for it. Soon after, her parents' voices, raising from hushed whispers in their room down the hall to shouts and exclamations. Dawn could hear her siblings skittering out of their beds to see what the matter was, but as the scaredy cat of the group, she just burrowed deep under the warmth of her comforter and covered her head with the pillow. Whatever it was, it would all be gone soon, right? Her parents would take care of it just like they took care of all problems.

When Dawn finally managed the courage to peek her head out, she realized that the house was eerily quiet. Tip-toeing to the doorway, she saw a table upended, a lamp smashed on the rug near the front door. A cold breeze blew, and she realized one of the windows was busted wide open, the curtains billowing out into the darkness. "Mom? Dad?" She called weakly, but there was no answer.

Slowly she made her way toward her parents' room, noticing the odd paintings on the walls - shapes and forms that she didn't recognize from anywhere before, and they definitely hadn't been there before. They were haphazard and wild, like someone had drawn them in a hurry. There was a slight smell of smoke as well as she pried open the door, it seemed to have been jammed shut. As the door creaked open, Dawn screamed as she saw her parents and siblings alike, all in eternal slumber. Then she blacked out.

When she woke up, one of the older Kalons she remembered used to sell bread at the market in the town was carrying her haphazardly out of the house. Her head bounced roughly with each step, and she could hear people whispering and murmuring loudly around her. Strange voices, and slightly familiar ones as well.

"Look at her, covered in blood!"

"But she's so small, how could she have done something like that?!"

"Why would she smash open the window? Maybe she was in a rage?"

"Who else would have done it? They probably made her mad."

It took a moment to realize it, but Dawn knew they were talking about her. Her heart sank. How could she have done such a thing to the only family she'd ever known? The parents that had lovingly raised her, and her siblings, her only playmates and friends. They were gone, and the entire town seemed to think that she was the one behind it all. Tears leaked from her eyes, and when it stung, she realized she'd hurt her eye as she'd fallen, unable to handle what she'd seen.

One of the older Kalons took her in for a while, but as soon as Dawn was old enough, she was entirely on her own in the world. She used what little savings her parents had left to buy a small house near the forest, far enough away from others' prying eyes. To cope, she began to dress strangely and even occasionally adorn herself with the strange symbols she'd seen scattered throughout the old house, what few she still remembered from the trauma of that night. For some reason, they made her feel closer to her lost family. Of course, this only grew the rumor that she was a witch and surely had done it all, but she was far past caring.

What Actually Happened ;;The people loved her
In a way the king never would
It was not her fault her doeful look allured
Her long eyelashes,
Her meek manner,
That her evasion of his majesty spurred him forward
Like a challenge to be won

But the people, ones she had known all her life
Ones she knew by name and known of strife
Were familiar
She would not forget from where she came.

They loved her
And she loved them

But the castle was not kind to her
For the day it was announced she was to be wed
Came from the aftermath of a night she'd never forget

"Watch," the king said
"For this is what happens when the mouse escapes the cat."
She was forced down to her knees
As she watched her lover's house be set ablaze

At her wedding she wore her funeral dress
She'd sooner they rip it from her than make her anything but a mourner
Under such duress

Her first night next to her husband
She fell to dreams
Of suffocating by smoke
Awakened to her own thrashes and screams
And woke to his hands
Pinning
Her
Down

"Never be difficult, beloved."
He warned
"You were nothing,
And I can return you to nothing again"
They were interrupted by the kitchen staff
The only ones awake at this unseemly hour
Who had heard her screams
And burst through the door
She sent them away gently
"Twas nothing more than a bad dream."

But this bad dream would linger
Into hateful waking hours
Her days were decorated with unpleasantries
Like the tears among her eyelashes
The king would wake, praising his love
And at the end of the day retire to his bed,
Cursing her name

Her one sanctuary, her people, became distant
They were the only ones who stood between the king and his wrath towards her
She was afraid to move
To breathe, beside him
He had broken something very fragile within her

She had become paranoid
The food was poisoned,
Eyes were always watching her
If only there were eyes to witness the transition
From sadness to anger
And anger to vengeance
"He has created his own undoing," She vowed

Oh how it pained the king
To have a wife so close to madness
Their people, once hers, expected near nothing from her
When she wandered into the kitchen they gently ushered her out,
like she was lost
It wasn't hard to slip something into her own dinner

There was a moment of hesitation that night
She gave him a chance of redemption
"Do not eat this food," she whispered
"There is poison in it tonight."

He only chuckled
Oh, how his poor, mad wife was like a broken record
Stuck repeating the same nonsense
"You say this every night, my love," he spat
And took it a challenge
He tore into it
And gasped his last breath

She screamed and fell back
This was wrong, this was so very wrong
Why had she killed a man?
But it was too late by the time the medic came
She felt everything, her disgust and shame
Boil up and burn out of her
Til nothing was left

She turned to her people, willing to welcome them back
They too, were given another chance
But they rippled with distrust and were ripe with loathing
"Fine," she spat
"If you make me out to be the villain, then that is what I will be."
[579 words]
Rumor ;; The people loved her
Even as the king lost his admiration
For the trophy he had hunted
And found another to prefer
A new chase, for something he could not have
These people, once her neighbors

They sang,
Danced,
Threw flowers,
For Esme Haleth,
Someone low brought high

They loved her
For she loved them back

But rumors were not misplaced
About her lover,
A life gone to waste
Who had perished the night before
Her newfound engagement day

"It was an accident," they say
A shame how things came to be
But what a tragedy, what a mess
To arrive at her own wedding
Donning a funeral dress

Things seemed bright until
Word spread by the night staff who maligned
That the king had proclaimed his wife ill
A sickness in the heart, a toxin in the mind

That is why she wept
Was unstable in his presence
It was not his fault, he'd interject
He distanced himself at every chance
From his crowned mistake

The people were upset, they were confused
Could it truly be what the king accused?
Their beloved queen was no more
In her stead was a paranoid girl
A fraction of what she had been

With heavy hearts, they gave up on Esme Haleth
She faded from their minds
And they no longer heard her mad cries
Her warnings of the king, and what he planned to do
They grew deaf to her pleas, their hearts grew stale
As hope was lost

Until a dinner came
Rumors said that the queen warned him
"Something is wrong tonight,"
But the king disregarded her words,
Felt provoked by his wife
He took a single bite, out of spite
And with it, he took his last breath,
Laughing at her,
And then fell dead

She screamed and fell back
She had known, but hadn't known

Nobody was quite sure
If she hadn't poisoned his food herself
The medic had been too far away
Her warning too late
It all was suspicious
On that fateful date

Now the kingdom was in turmoil
Could it be right to trust the word of the survivor?
But they had no say, as she was dubbed the sole ruler
They no longer cheered
No longer sang
She became harsh with their revolt
had no more room to trust
She became a fearmonger

This queen was their queen
But she was theirs no longer

Name: Amura Fedora

Rumor:Amura Iksha was what they called her, she who was all seeing. With one eye she could see your past, your grievances and your joys and with the other she could look far into the future, past your age and to your children’s or if she was so inclined simply the next meal you would have. The Iksha lives with her mother, born in some unknown land with no father to speak of, even her mother must be careful not to be exposed to her own daughters powers for too long. The Iksha, chosen with Gods’ blessings to be this gifted is kept hidden from view most of the time, for gazing upon her is said to either nullify her powers or cause the one who saw her to fall into a trance which is nigh impossible to break. Only her eyes will be shown on occasion – when something particularly important or trying is to be done- swirls of the sun’s golden rays and the deepest of night’s darkness. She is said to be dressed sheer silken robes of the finest quality and along her arms are never-fading marks of the night’s and the sun’s blessings.

To visit The Iksha is a hard thing to be accomplished, her mother cares for her every wish along with a few maids that are changed frequently but are highly regarded due to their work. Meeting The Iksha can be a long process- which is to be expected as something so powerful and precious must not be open to all for fear of contamination or being stolen- but one becomes enlightened and to see The Iksha is a blessing in itself. One will be offered scented teas, flowery and sweet, as well as the scented candles, which illuminate the darkened room. A sign of hospitality and good will, one may even be given a small charm for good will and as a blessing.

The Iksha has been kept mostly solitary ever since anyone can remember; it is for everyone’s own good after all. The Iksha’s mother bears the mark of one who did not keep enough distance, blind in one eye and with a red burn scar in almost the shape of a tear under the other. For one shall not Gaze upon the Iksha without facing the Gods’ wrath.

What actually happened:
Amura’s story starts with her mother, once a great beauty that was the well sought after daughter of a noble family, however she did not have the chance to marry for love and instead married for status. An affair that was not appreciated by either party but it was spoken for by convenience and increased standing. The father was a vile thing, or so he was in the mother’s eyes, never home and always out. Then one day, a fire tore through the house, the mother pregnant heavy and the father rushing to save possessions- maybe for his soon to be born heir. However in the end the mother was scared and burnt and her beauty had wilted as the cold winter season came.

The relationship became more strained and neither parent was happy. The father lost face now that his wife was an embarrassment and could not host or be by his side any longer but she still carried his heir- the doctor had assured him it would be a boy. But then the day of the birthing came, and it was no son, but a girl, a beautiful one – to surpass her mother’s former glory. And so the father named the child, Amura – to be insightful and have far sight- to forever remind the mother of what she had lost and what it had cost.

He was not a fully heartless man though, he provided them with some money and told his wife to take the child and leave, he would find a new wife and she could live in relative comfort. But the mother did not want that – her child, Amura, would not want that (the mother was certain she wouldn’t) – so she took the money and fled. The mother decided her child would be called something that her mother approves of, not some name her father-No- a stranger gave. And so the mother travelled and lived and her daughter with no name started to grow and learn, however the money given soon ran out.

The mother did not know what to do, she had no way of making money and they were in a rather small village with suppositious people who lived there. And it was then that the mother made the decision, her daughter was blessed with beautiful but unusual features and that would be her blessing. And so the mother decided no one should see her daughter to add the supposition but also to protect her daughter from a loveless life. After all she was doing this for her daughter, so her daughter – and her- could live a comfortable life.

Her daughter –Amura Fedora (insightful gift of god) – became Amura Iksha – The All Seeing. Perhaps the mother did keep the name to spite the husband or perhaps she simple thought the name could be given a new meaning; but it was from here the mother built up her life. She started to get her daughter to learn how to ready body language, speak eloquently and mysteriously and to seem un-earthly. And so Amura became the Divine, All-Seeing One. Her mother would light candles and bring tea to guests to help the readings go smoothly and it must have worked (or there was something lese at play) for Amura never got a reading wrong. And with this success a new lifestyle came, a luxurious though isolated one where Amura and her mother could look after each other.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -

I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.

res w/ the idea that he's a gypsy man c;
he's a swindler and gives other gypsies a bad name, takes advantage wherever he can and is always working an angle. He's developed a reputation with many groups where he is known to be far more significant than he truly is due to exaggerated stories etc etc
