Daughter of powerful sea witch, Merula. She may or may not have inherited some magical abilities herself. For a long time she is kept under the sea in her mother's sea dwelling, until she's finally had enough and defies her. She roams the lands and boards various vessels until she finds her "aunt" Venora's vessel. She implores Venora to not only let her stay but to teach her the ways of sailing and the sea. Venora agrees, not only teaching her all she asked but after several years, naming her successor and Captain of the fearsome pirate crew. Venora remains a part of the ship's crew but more as an advisor who is just contented to go along for the ride as Captain Ursa terrorizes the seas in the open air, a part of the sea that her mother has no power over.

Ursa's color changing aspects are mostly emotion based but are also somewhat control based as well. For example, while her colors may change when she's bored, excited, or sad naturally, she also can change her colors at will to command a presence. Her pelt flaring to a bright red when she's leading a charge or attack. But if she's wanting to command attention from her crew when rallying them or otherwise, her pelt will turn yellow or bright green to command their attention.
