WHAT IS A YAEKO?

A Yaeko [yay·kho] (plural: "Yaeki") is a creature from outer space who has somehow found its way into the ecosystem on planet Earth. Roughly the size of a Great Dane, these oddities have long and powerful hind legs enabling them of bipedal movement over short periods of time. Their front legs - structured more like arms - possess three long claws as well as a "thumb" claw. These claws are surprisingly flexible, leading some to believe they may be used as fingers. Yaeki have been observed using these claws to crack open nuts, spear fish and cut open fruits - some even using them to pick locks and open doors. Their heads are encased in a thick layer of "ivory" which works as a protective helmet for their otherwise very sensitive heads. Yaeki communicate through a series of chirps, similar to those of a bird, although domesticated Yaeki may attempt to mimick human speech in the same manner a parrot would. They are intelligent and curious creatures - behaving much like an average toddler - and possess a strong will to learn and please their owners.

The most fascinating aspect of a Yaeko's anatomy is the transparent "dome" attached to their chest. The dome itself appears to be made of some sort of glass-like material. The contents of this dome are unknown, but it appears to contain some sort of colourful liquid or mist. Floating around in the strange substance is a charm. Every Yaeko has their own unique charm used for identification - and surprisingly, keeping nightmares at bay. People with a Yaeko in their household report having fewer nightmares than people who don't. This leads to speculation that Yaeki "trap" good dreams in their domes for safekeeping so their owners may have the same good dreams over again.

Eyes on this yaeko's head are blind, it can only see with its neck.

You are allowed one piece of art of this yaeko and another character (or their reflection in a mirror?) interacting with each other. Anything else you add to the form will be counted as an extra and will not help you while judging.

None of the sections have a word limit, however a short and intriguing idea will have as much of a winning chance as a wall of text so don't overwork yourself!

🔪 Why are they so sad? Rocky grew up with his sister Midnight, and things were rough. They never got along and Midnight was always nagging him about things that he already knew about which really got to him. One night Rocky was fed up, he couldn't take any more of his sister who's always been better than him rubbing it in his face. He could feel his anger and pain festering up inside him...

It was a beautiful sunny day, everything was nice, and LoveStroke was about to go on their first date with the person they've always wanted to date! They went to the movies, went to a diner, and watched the sunset, but suddenly one day, she said it wouldn't be enough anymore for their relationship, but she didn't just say that, she broke his dome, and as she left he sobbed, he loved her so much but he didn't know she would leave him..

🔪 Why are they so sad? Heart Broken is so sad because, well she go her heart broken. Her mother always favored her siblings over her, she had a glass heart, that can be broken very easily. She could put up with the bullying and yells of her siblings, But one time she couldn't hold it in. Her own mom said she hated her. Heart Broken's Heart burst open, crying and she felt sad, all the time. She noticed she was depressed. Her friends didn't hang out with her anymore just because she was depressed. She is still upset, she lives by herself in a cave, thats underwater in a glass dome, to remind herself that some Yaeko's have gentle hearts, and they can be broken easily.

Ace saw a wonderfully beautiful girl, dressed in pastel colors she looked heavenly. Ace spent what seemed like forever admiring her, 'stalking' as his friends call it.
Royals' friends noticed Royale stalking her, they finally started talking, Ace: what do you guys want? unnamed friends: just ask her out, dude.
Ace being his outgoing self walks over to his crush and hears her talking with her friends.
Dream girl says, I would never go out with him, he creeps me out. her unnamed friends say, how do you know, you never gone near the guy plus he has taken the time to know you, I've seen him stalking you. Dream girl: well thats scary...
Ace walks away, walks past his friends and says shes terrified of me.
