Durga lived in an ancient village, Herxheim, plagued by war and the ravages of foul kalons. It was a harsh life and many kalons would not live so long as to become elders. Kalon kits seen as weak by the leaders would be culled (killed) by their parents in order to, in their minds, prevent a worse fate for them in the near future. Be it from natural causes or at the hand of the rulers of the village. The oppressive rulers of Herxheim would sack the village frequently, plundering resources of all kinds.

However, not all parents culled their "weak" children, but tried to hide them instead. Though, hiding them never kept them safe for long.

One day, the village was being raided, and one of the oppressors had found themselves in Durga's family home. He confronted the intruder. "Why do you do this? why do ANY of you do this?" He cried. The kal smirked at the young kit, admiring his courage. "Because we do not tolerate weakness, and neither should you, young one. Move aside now, I'm here for your brother." Durga's brother was sick, he had been his whole life. The kal was here to kill Durga's brother. Durga quickly realized this and grabbed a nearby object and swung it wildly at the kal. He landed a good gash on the intruders face. The kal grunted in pain and anger and growled "You shouldn't have done that." He lunged toward Durga in an attempt to mangle him. Durga had succesfully dodged, the attacker had missed him and sent himself flying into a wooden beam. The beam cracked in half like a toothpick and sent debris raining down upon the kal. It crushed him. Durga's attacker had been deffeated. His brother was safe, at least for the time being.

Though Durga knew that it didn't stop here. There was still the leader and his many followers. They wern't quite safe yet.

Ever heard of the English trope, slippery slope? It's basically defined as taking things to the most extreme possibility... and Gage, in many reactions, seems to fit that definition perfectly, though you wouldn't guess it from their usual calm and collected personality.
For example, if Gage accidentally breaks the last piece of graphite in your person, rather than just giving you a new one, the kid will go and buy you an entirely new pack of pencils.
Needless to say, these extremes went to... well.. an extreme, at one point.
Gage had been wandering through the city streets, passing out money to any homeless people who didn't ask, offering meals, and overall just questioning the state of everything. It struck them, suddenly, that- regardless of how they may claim otherwise- the government really wasn't doing much at all for these underprivileged and unappreciated Kalons. Of course, just this notice wasn't quite enough to make the kid decide to rebel- but, when they saw a young homeless child be arrested simply for looking with longing at the electronics belonging to another, something in them snapped. Gage was furious. In that moment, they decided that they were going to change things. Not in a joining protests and donating money sort of way- no, if they were going to commit, they wanted to go full force.
If the government wasn't going to give the people what they needed, if corrupt corporations were going to keep trying to control and assign labels, then the solution was simple- Gage would simply have to stop them.
At first, Gage didn't quite know how to go about this... they'd always been nimble and quiet, and coming from a wealthy family, Gage could easily fly above the radar. No one would suspect a thing, especially from one so young. But, as it turned out, the solution came to them instead. They were approached by another young child- one who quietly introduced himself as Wire, and smirked as he said, "I know what you want. I can help you." Wire wasted no time in bringing Gage up to speed- revealing his hacker abilities and getting Gage in on the plan to take out corruption, the two even starting a secret base and "club" of sorts to plot in.
Is finding a hacker friend and creating an organization to take out all corruption an extreme response to seeing the plight of the less fortunate? Well, maybe. But they're only children, no one suspects them. And no one can say the solution wasn't an effective one.

Back in Elle’s Middle School years, he had a very close friend by the name of Jay. They’d known each other since early Elementary School and had always been very close. Jay had been a big support for Elle for a long time – especially involving Elle’s somewhat difficult adopted family life and two older sibling issues. Elle was quite shy and didn’t really have friendships aside from that which he had with Jay, so he was sort of clingy, but Jay never seemed to mind and was always up to hang out.

Their friendship was still strong throughout the first two years of Middle School, but something about Jay was changing. He seemed to be more judgmental of others, particularly of those who identified differently in their romantic orientation. Elle was troubled by the behavior, but he tried to ignore it for the sake of their relationship. After all, it didn’t directly affect him, right?

However, in 8th grade, a new student who’d moved into town from a different district was introduced to Elle’s homeroom class. This boy was outgoing and took a liking to Elle – despite Elle being shy. They quickly became good friends - but for some reason, Elle felt something different about his new friend.

It was then that Elle came to realize something new about himself.

He realized he had a crush on this student – his first crush.

Half a school year passed, and Elle was out with Jay at an ice cream shop after their day at school. Feelings had been boiling up inside Elle – and he had no one to talk to about his situation. It was this day that Elle decided to open up to Jay and be honest about his feelings.

Elle didn’t know what would happen. He was awfully worried about losing a friend, but he couldn’t keep the truth to himself anymore. Though, he couldn’t have expected the reaction he received.

“Elle… I’m sorry.” Jay said. “I had no idea.”
“You’re… sorry?” Elle asked softly.
“Elle, I really care about you – you’re my best friend. More than anything, I want you to be happy. I must’ve made you feel awful.” Jay responded. “I feel so stupid.”
“Jay…”

Jay and Elle remained friends and became even closer with each other after that day. Elle felt relieved and learned something important – to be honest with those he cares about.
