"When one is young, innocence is a gift. It allows optimism to blossom and creativity to grow. It's what
allows children to believe in dragons and fairies, talk to the trees and imagine that their pets can talk
they just choose not to. It fosters curiosity and creativity, and to them the world is good, simple, and
fair. It hides the dark in this world from their wandering eyes, and allows them to grow as they must.
As one grows older, however, it's necessary to ruin that innocence with knowledge. Innocence prevents
people from protecting themselves from the dangers of our world, something their parents could do
for them as children. As the children grow and begin to wander further from home, they must lose
their innocence. They must know what the should- or shouldn't- do.
So, you see, innocence is necessary. It's needed to protect the young, but as the young grow old the
innocence must die away slowly in order to allow the holder to live the best life they can. As a child,
innocence is a blessing, but as adults any who still truly possess innocence are under a curse."
