Why do I love gems so much? Oh, you poor thing... you don't know, do you? Otherwise, you'd certainly treasure them as much as I do. As much as any who know the truth do.
Gems are, after all, the basis of all magic. And how boring would this world be without magic? With no magic, there's no life.
It starts off simple. You know, the beginning of this realm- the minerals crashing against each other wish no rhyme or reason, until eventually, somehow, something was born... the first gem. The first egg. And when it hatched? Well, that was the birth of the elder dragon, and that flaming gem, after it cracked, became the birthplace for all dragons. Everyone knows that the dragons created all life, even with some taking it as well, and that burning gem is how the new ones- those with the powers of deities at least- are born to this very day. And for us born with the gift to speak to magic? Well, the gems are the simplest way to do so- magic happily grants wishes to those that ask her nicely, and the little gems are the best conduit for it... there's a reason dragons are depicted to hoard treasures- especially jewels and gems. They simply know better. They are, as they carry the direct orders of magic, the lifeblood and the only law of this earth- the sentient magic the gemstones hold inside themselves is incredible, vocal, and nearly overwhelming in its majesty.
Magic- through gems- is incredible.
Just remember, you cannot demand things from magic. If you play with fire, you'll get burned... and the rage of gems and magic burn stronger than the hottest flame existing.
