Event Optional - HaikuGently does it blow,
The silver mane in the wind,
Peace filling my heart.
Event Optional - Short StoryToo close. Kal snorted and turned his teeth on the young gelding, who let loose a shrill whinny and cantered away. Really. He hadn't even
actually bit the guy. When Kalóz had broken down the fencing of their home paddock, it had been with the intention of escaping
alone. He had no ties to that place, and once free of it, did not need any dead weight reminding him of his previous captivity.
The bay stallion tossed his silver mane in frustration and continued trotting through the darkening forest. He didn't know where he was going, but he didn't care. Kal was not a beast made to be held in one place. He longed to
move. To travel. To see, to smell, to taste things he never had before. His whole life was spent at one farm or another. Now that he was in his prime, he'd be damned if he didn't get out into the world and make something of himself.
Crack! What was that? Kal whirled and the gelding froze, not ten feet away. Damn it. Didn't he know there were horse eaters in these woods? Pfft, of course not. The young'in had practically never left the barn before. If he met a wild horse eater, he'd probably mistake it for one of those furry yappers the humans kept. Kal neighed darkly and the gelding shied away.
Crack!Now what was
that?! Light. Curses. It was the humans and their light sticks! This stupid gelding had slowed him down! Probably left painfully obvious tracks right to their location, too! And now they would both be caught! Kalóz took off, full gallop over the forest floor. One minute. Ten minutes. Fifteen minutes go by before he slows his pace and looks back. Alone. Finally, alone... An ear twitched as he stood paused. Alone... Did it feel...right? Pfft, of course it did. Back on track, he picked his way over the usual detritus. Branches, leaf litter, the occasional leave-behinds of wild animals.
Aaarrrrooooooo!Hmm...
Stomp! Crash! Crack! The gelding stormed up to him, sides heaving and drenched in sweat. Good grief. That howl was miles away. Even so, the young horse collapsed in a heap at Kal's feet, shaking and snorting in distress. Clearly he was not cut out for life out in the mountains; why on Earth had he decided to follow him away from home? ...Home? Pfft.
Vroom... Whrr...Kalóz sighed, flicking his tail and casting a long hard stare at the other horse. "Just so you know, this is your fault," his eyes said. Moments later the human's beams of light swept over them and those annoying yappers ran up to their side. Kal didn't flinch, but the gelding shot to his feet, pressing up against the stallion and eyeing the small crowd that was forming around them nervously. Oh well. This was just a test run anyway. Yeah, a test run. Maybe he'd try again. In a few years. When the stupid gelding was older.
