You might be right, however there are subtle differences between the Baby Water and Air blots, so I wouldn't be too sure just yet XD Either way though, I do think he will like the Beach.

I'm not actually sure how long they take to fully grow up but the stages (even more broken down than on the intro post) go something like this:
New egg, no cracks
Egg has small crack
Egg has lotsa cracks
Egg hatches to Baby blot
Baby blot grows slightly bigger (no actual change in size)
Baby blot grows to Teen blot
Teen blot grows slightly bigger (again, no actual change in size)
Teen blot grows to Adult blot

So, all in all, I would guess it takes about maybe eight weeks? I'll probably end up speeding it up a bit. Of course, you can also make the egg hatch directly into an Adult blot with the wide array of Krono's Scythes in the shop...

Sure, if there's any left (I think there might be one egg left). Or, if you don't mind waiting a bit, you can look for some in the new batch of eggs that will be up for adoptiong in the next few hours (I have a tad of homework to do first sadly).
