“Pandas weren’t made to fight, they were made to love, Amelia.”

This was a common phrase that Amelia often heard growing up. In Furtopia, the panda tribe firmly believed that they were made to love others rather than fight. It simply wasn’t in their nature to be mean or to harm others. Amelia’s mom emphasized how important it was to stay away from war and that she should be focusing on learning how to be a kind, caring mother instead. The other animals in furtopia agreed. They think that pandas are soft creatures that get pushed around and need their help to protect them since the pandas can’t protect themselves from harm. Amelia was different though.

All her life Amelia knew that she wanted to help out others. The tensions between tribes of other species were tense and war was about to break out. It was a stressful time for everyone and they all lived in fear. Amelia wanted to do something about it but because of her mother’s disapproval, Amelia pushed aside her goals and dreams to make her mother happy. She learned how to take care of children and over time she loved it. Amelia found that she adored traveling to third-world countries and helping out children who are in need. Her mother was reluctant to let her baby go out into the dangerous world but with some convincing, she finally let Amelia out into the world.

Her dreams of becoming a solider and helping protect those that she loved didn’t come up again until she had witnessed the first attack that a gang of wolves had set upon her camp. Amelia had been treating sick children and helping give them the nutrients that they needed when she had heard gunshots and screaming as the animals tried to escape. Amelia had quickly ran out, saw the scene, and instead of fleeing she had seen a children backed into a corner. She instantly grabbed a gun from a fallen soldier and charged.

Amelia became a hero after that. She saved every child in the small tribe and had retreated with them. They looked up to her as both their mother and idol. Amelia’s heroic act spread like wildfire, for a panda never fought in war and yet she had done it to protect the children. Only one other panda had ever gone to war and he was known as Ling. Amelia had used him as inspiration since he was not only a soldier, but he became a commander and was one of the military’s best animals that they had ever had. Amelia now knew though that she couldn’t hold back anymore. She had to sign up and travel around the world, fighting other animals. When she had tried to sign up, the lieutenants mocked her and laughed at her. “Shouldn’t you be at home taking care of your kids?” They would always ask. Amelia was faced with many challenges but because of her heroic act, she became known as Amelia Heart by all. Luckily she got in the military due to someone returning from a battle and having seen her out opening fire. They told the lieutenant that they would regret it if they didn’t let her in. They had said “When an animal goes to war, they will fight. But when a panda goes to war, they will run.” This had made Amelia smile from ear to ear before she was accepted into the military.

She trained long and hard hours but with patience and determination she was eventually allowed to go back out into the world. The war still continues today, but Amelia now operates as the commander of many animals, all who’s goal is to charge into battle and save as many lives as possible. They’re the soldiers who help evacuate others and will give them emergency supplies. Amelia has never left a fallen soldier behind nor a civilian if she can help it. She’s very passionate about what she does and is a role model by both pandas and others. She’s proven that it doesn’t matter who you are, you can do anything if you put your mind to it.
