- A silhouette of a large person could be seen, even with the shades drawn, in the window of a small shop.
Inside the shop, a hunched figure skillfully manipulated the warm wax, deft hands moving with skill and practiced precision. Strands of hair fell from their topknot into their face and were brushed away quickly. This was, after all, a time sensitive matter. In only twenty minutes time, the wax would harden and any further carving would be impossible. The person working so diligently could be heard humming lightly, completely in their own world, as they created beautiful twists and petals on the candle. They were so engrossed in their task that they failed to notice the shop door open.
"Cam," the woman sighed, "You work too hard, you know. Have you even slept? Do you ever sleep? You were in that spot yesterday when I closed."
She sounded a bit criticizing, but her tone was gentle and warm, and Camelot didn't mind. They had been a drifter most of their life, and the only real passion they had discovered was candle making. Carving required patience and care, which were concepts that Cam had not been particularly familiar with before they began working with candles. They liked that about it, though. Making candles was their way of slowing everything down; the world outside was hectic and chaotic and candles were a way for Camelot to make something beautiful while also practicing mindfulness.
