How they view the world
To Ransom and Rogue, the world is something to be challenged, feared, and just generally fought pretty much at all times. They believe its a learn quick or die quick world as they steal not just for fun but for survival. The world gives and takes as it pleases as some days they will eat like kings but others they're lucky if they scrape by with a single apple to share. A lot of that has to do with losing more than food, Ransom and Rogue were born into a wealthy family and had all that they could ever want but when they were still very small kits they're family home, along with most of the rest of the town, caught fire and burnt to the ground destroying pretty much everything they owned. While the two of them and their parents made it out they lost their only sister to the fire along with all of their worldly possessions, distraught and ruined their parents didn't know how to cope with the tragedy. They tried their best to provide for their remaining children while also trying to claw back their wealth but were eventually unable, a few long months after the devastating fire the pair of brothers were left at an orphanage while their parents left to find something better, that would be the last they ever saw of them. This is what imprinted the "gives and takes" idea as well as learn quick or die, it also instilled a distrust of others and believing you can only trust yourself each one only making an exception for the other. Despite that, at their ages now and the traumatic memories mostly repressed or forgotten they don't see the harm in having fun with challenging the world every day as they often do things that even most adults would find crazy.

Ransom dreams of saving enough money to start up his own business, though he hasn't decided what that might be, and using the money from that to buy a real home to call his own which he can open to kids who don't have anywhere to go. He also dreams of settling down with a special someone and starting a big family.
Personality
Ransom has always been very calm, cool, and collected with a decent amount of charisma, he's worked hard to build on that and his ability to talk and even flirt his way out of various situations. Outwardly he appears very confident, intelligent, and mild-mannered almost passing as someone who grew up as a high-born while in private he faces his own share of demons. Ransom often has a number of nightmares at night which tend to keep him up at night though he keeps this from Rogue so to not worry him. He has a lot of anxiety when away from his brother and even more when alone in general, most of his nightmares stem from the fire that took everything from him and his brother and most involve the fire leaving him with Pyrophobia and afraid of any larger than a small torch. He doesn't like stealing but does it as he feels they have no other choice with the circumstances they were given and the seemingly endless opposition they face.

Rogue dreams of seeing his name in the proverbial lights, he wants to be known all across the land and become the head of his own gang. He dreams of becoming an infamous criminal and more importantly becoming rich to show everyone who looked down on him that hes made it.
Personality
Rogue is much like his brother but also vastly different, like Ransom he is very confident but he also tends to be pretty cocky when it comes to his abilities. Unlike his brother, he doesn't pass off so well as a high-born as he doesn't mind having to fight his way out of something or make a run for it when things go south. Internally he doesn't face much doubt and his biggest anxiety is whether or not they will have enough to eat that day or not, he has some memories of the fire but has forgotten and dealt with it better than Ransom. However, he does have the same anxiety as him when it comes to being separated though it isn't nearly as severe and he doesn't mind being alone in general. He is somewhat aware of Ransoms internal issues but doesn't press it as it very much upset Ransom the one time he did so. Rogue has little to no issue when it comes to stealing and even finds some enjoyment in it seeing it as a sort of challenge.

The brothers
Ransom and Rogue are inseparable, where ever you see one you are almost guaranteed to see the other by his side or not far behind. Only having each other to rely on for almost as long as they can remember they only separate for as long as necessary even after arguing they usually won't go much further than a few rooms from each other. Having said that, each one is fine acting independently of the other and they usually do this to successfully steal and get out of trouble. However, due to this tactic, the village people and local shopkeeps of the area they happen to be in usually catch on pretty quick which causes them to move from place to place pretty quickly. They're ok with this though, they enjoy seeing different places with each other and while they don't want to have to steal for a living forever they're also ok with that for now.

A day in the lives of thieves
Ransom trotted up to the fruit stand that sat off to the side of the road, a calm and confident smile on his face, he looked over the various fruits before looking at the kalon standing behind the counter that sat off to the side of the stand. "What can I get for this?" he asked as he slid a couple of copper coins onto the table causing the kalon to lean forward and count them out before looking over at the fruits then back at Ransom replying with a tired gruff tone "two apples." He walked back over at pointed towards the green apples "these?" he asked in a puzzled tone; he knew which ones he was talking about and it definitely wasn't these more exotic green apples, "no!" he heard back, man, this keep either had a long day or just a short temper. He then pointed at the less exotic but still semi-expensive yellow apples causing the shopkeep to let out an irritated sigh and walk around from his counter and pick up two regular red apples and push them into Ransoms paws "these!". Man, really short-tempered, Ransom smiled glancing behind the kalon as he noticed what looked like just a quick blink of a shadow then put the apples into his bag he had slung over his back "oh! Why didn't you say so? Thanks a lot, sir!" he smiled and gave a wave then quickly walked off leaving the vexed shopkeep behind. After a moment he turned off into an alley and heard a chuckle and a voice "I can't believe you pointed at those green apples with a straight face! I thought he was going to make you eat those copper pieces for that!" looking over revealed another young kalon leaning against the alley wall. This kalon was none other than his partner in crime and his brother, Ransom smirked at Rogue "easy peasy, see, that's why I do the talking...you got the copper back right?" Rogue walked over and dropped the copper pieces into Ransoms paw before pulling a green apple from his bag and handing that to him as well "easy peasy," he replied chuckling again. The two sat down getting ready to chow down on their stolen fruit feast when they suddenly heard a gruff voice yell "Hey! You thieves!" they looked over and heading for them was the, now very angry, kalon they had gotten the fruit from "I guess he noticed the missing copper...Or uh...Silver..." said Rogue causing Ransom to look at him in semi-shock "silver?!" he shook his head "never mind that, run!". The two quickly pushed their food into their bags and began sprinting Rogue looking back at his brother who was beginning to fall behind him, Ransom had never been the fastest which was the main reason he always played distraction in their little system while Rogue was in charge of the taking part. Rogue looked at the shopkeep that continued to pursue them who was slowly but surely gaining on his brother then looked forward again looking for an escape route when his eyes landed on a stack of crates off to the side of the alley. He slowed slightly to fall next to his brother and looked at him "you see those crates?" Ransom looked at him then looked forward his eyes landing on the crates stacked high, they were large but got slightly smaller as they were stacked higher and while an adult likely couldn't get their paws on the ledges without slipping he bet that someone with smaller ones could do so easily...someone like them. He looked back at him "up?" "up" Rogue replied with a smirk before looking back again at the kalon behind them, he reached into a pouch on his bag and pulled out a paw full of something while mumbling quiet "ow's" then tossed it behind them revealing it to be a number of spurs, small so easy to carry and not cause serious damage but big enough to still hurt if stepped on. They both continued forward and began quickly climbing the crates as they heard angry pained shouts from behind them as the shopkeep stepped on some of the spurs causing him to have to stop and pull them from his paws giving the two enough time to scale the crates and make it to the roof of the building they were next to. Ransom caught his breath for just a moment looking at Rogue "spurs?" "yep, works everytime" he replied with a smirk "you only used them the one time!" "hey...one time has been every time so far hasn't it?" they cut their conversation short and quickly made their way across the roof to the next as they continued to hear angry shouts come from the alley below. After a bit when they had left the shouts far behind they carefully made their way down to the street and slipped into a small abandoned house that they had been staying in and both sat on one of their makeshift beds. They sat in silence for a few moments before they both started laughing "I can't believe those stupid spurs worked!" Ransom said once he stopped laughing quite so hard,"I told you didn't I? And I thought you were a goner! You're so slow!" Rogue responded in a teasing tone causing Ransom to push him a bit as they both continued to laugh a bit then finally start to dig into their stolen fruit."Oh, I also got a gold piece" said Rogue before taking a bite of his apple, this almost caused Ransom to spit out his food but he swallowed and looked at his brother "you what?! You're crazy!". Rogue shrugged and took another bite as Ransom shook his head and wrapped his arm over his brothers shoulder, he said that but it was them against the world and he knew that as long as they were together they were an unstoppable force.
