Prompt answer;; ice skittered along behind the others, listening to feather giving instructions. she saw some pale, brown shriveled up berries on the ground, and thought they looked like rat poop.
*wait...* she thought,
*if that looks like rat poop to me, maybe it would to feather.* she giggled under her breath and in plain sight of everyone else, mimed eating the berries.

Prompt answer; The charcoal black pup lifted her nose in the air, taking a deep breath of the sweet mountain air. Viridiscent leaves blocked her view of the sky, and the scent of the summer greenery filled her lungs. Everything of this place reminded her of wonder, calm and beauty. She smiled, tilted her head up, enjoying the peace, before being barreled into by her milky silver companion, having the wind knocked out of her.
“Ice, watch where you’re going!” Crow groaned, shaking her head to clear it as she slowly pushed herself into an upright position.
Laughing, Ice jumped up energetically back to her paws, grinning and nudging her friend. “Come on, Co (the nickname that Ice gave her, and only ever used by Ice, as it was the only part of her name she could pronounce when she was younger), get some life in you! Let’s go explore, there’s so many things here to see!”
Crow wrinkled her silver muzzle, the only part of her body that wasn’t a pitch-black other than her back two paws; yeah, it was wonderful and a new place, but it’s nothing they haven’t seen after all. Just trees, right? She sighed, smiled at her friend in resignation and followed. It wouldn’t hurt to look around.
“Come along youngsters, Watch where you step, there are thorns!”
Crow glanced back, hearing their mentor’s warning. Feather was always so fretful. She rolled her eyes and continued forward; the pup greatly appreciated everything Feather had done for them, but they were growing! They could be independent sometimes without getting hurt. And the only thorns were near the blackberries, which she clearly had more common sense than to go near them. The slow-witted Leaf, one of the two male pups, clearly did not.
Hearing his clumsy paws speeding towards her, she jumped out of the way with a squeak of protest and annoyance. “Coming through!” He shouted as he whizzed past, an umber blur, grinning.
Crow stopped, wide-eyed, regaining her breath after the scare. She had told that obtuse little crazy mouse never to come up behind her on her right side so many times! Did he never listen to her or something?
She was heterochromic; her left eye was a dark mahogany wood color, while her right was a light ice-blue. She could see perfectly from her left, but her right eye was much weaker and it was difficult to see from it, making her half blind on that side. She could see shapes and general outlines, but things were still a little hazy. It was something that ran in her family.
Ice bounded forward, her small legs pumping to catch up with her brown racing buddy. Leaf shouted in despair when he realized she was past him and went faster himself, catching up.
Crow huffed, frowning. “You’re going to get in trouble if you go too far away!” She yelled before turning around and making her back to Feather. The adult was talking animatedly to a quiet, shy Rock, the other male pup, and waving her paw around as if describing something large. When Crow came back, she raised her eyebrow before glancing away from the pair towards the others.
“Ice! Come back here! Oh, Leaf, please watch where you’re going!” She shouted, her voice strained.
Crow made a pointed face as if to say ‘I told you so’ when the two shuffled back towards the trio guiltily, and followed their leader next to Rock. He didn’t really talk much, so she was fine with him, but he did tend to make life a bit dull. He was sweet though, and tried hard at whatever task Feather presented them with. She generally didn’t do the same, being more on the ‘eh, whatever’ side, but loved using sticks and different tools she made. Crow really could be intelligent, and is when putting in effort, but tended to be more lazy.
Leaf, already getting bored with the mere task of walking forward, started looking around for anything to entertain himself among the trees and blueberry and raspberry patches. He strayed away from the group, humming to himself before stumbling over a very questionable small brown thing. Crow, having been watching him out of the corner of her left eye as she walked forward, made a disgusted face. Why would he pick that up?! Seeing his mischievous face, she realized he wouldn’t look so interested in whatever the brown blob was if it was what she thought it was. Looking around at the ground, she saw a few other similar things scattered around the grass near the raspberry bush. Oh. It was just a moldy, shriveled up old raspberry that fell from the bush. But what would he want with that?
“Now, just around this corner,” Feather said over her shoulder as she approached a large gathering of boulders. Confused by Crow’s bewildered stare, she followed the pup’s gaze to see Leaf “eating” what looked like very nasty rat dung.
“Woah, WOAH! LEAF! Leaf? Oh, ok, I see. You thought you’d trick me into thinking you’re eating a rat poop, huh? Well, very funny. Come on, put that down, and let’s get moving.”
Crow rolled her eyes again as Leaf scampered forward. He was so immature. They were all the same age, but he could really benefit from acting more like her.
“Oh, grow up, snail-brain,” she whispered when he fell behind Feather next to her.
Leaf, appearing stung by the comment, glanced over at her with a frown.
“What’s your problem, Crow?” He said with a hint of annoyance, “Can’t you ever learn to lighten up? Life isn’t all about being haughty and thinking you’re better than everyone. It’s okay to have fun you know. There’s a reason I prefer playing with Ice.”
Crow shut her mouth, hurt by his snapping tone. She did deserve it, but whatever, she was above replying to such a rude mouse. She moved forward, choosing to walk right beside Feather. Looking behind her after a few moments, she saw Leaf and Ice giggling behind her.
“This is why I wanted to stay home,” Crow whispered, her spirits lowered.
“Oh Crow, stop complaining! We’re nearly there,” Feather said heartily and lightly pushed her with her paw. “Think of all those tasty berries! So sweet and juicy...”
“I can’t wait to eat, I’m really hungry,” Rock added, attempting to cheer her up with his small, bashful smile.
As they went around the large pile of rocks, blackberry bushes appeared on the other side, most of the fruit already more than ripe, and many littered around the base. Rock hopped forward, eyeing the one’s that had already fallen. “We dont’ have to work for these,” he said softly with a half-smile as he presented one to Crow.
“No Rock, don’t eat the ones on the ground, they’re all wormy.” Rock, crestfallen, dropped the fruit, and Feather patted his shoulder lightly. Waving her paw for all of the pups to gather around her, she hopped forward and stood at the base of the bush.
“Now. Look up, do you see the blackberries, amongst the thorns?” They all nodded, Leaf and Ice very enthusiastically.
“Anyone want to try get one?” She continued, her gaze dropping on each young mouse individually. Rock, nervous, shook his head, while the others stood silently, unsure of what to say.
“No? Good, because today you are going to learn how to harvest them without getting thorns in your paws.” Feather moved to the right, pointing at the wood’s rind.
“Ok. See this bark on the ground? Good. Now Crow, Ice, each of you grab a piece and place it on this low branch like this, covering the thorns. Now push down.”
Crow shuffled forward awkwardly as Ice leapt forward to do their mentor’s bidding. Both taking a piece, they began to mimic Feather’s actions, topping the spiky barbs. Feather had made it look so easy, doing everything in one swift motion effortlessly, but Feather made everything look easy after all.
“Keep pushing, nearly there!” Feather encouraged, nodding her head.
The duo pushed harder, both beginning to break a bit of a sweat. Crow groaned, but Ice didn’t look like she was having too much difficult other than the hard huffing, but it was evident her paws were shaking.
“Yes! That’s it. Now Rock, Leaf, reach up like this and each of you grab hold of the base of a blackberry with your teeth.”
The boys hesitantly came forward, reluctantly biting the base of the fruit.
“Now pull! Keep pulling!”
As Leaf and Rock bit hard, trying to pull off the blackberries from the branch and to gnaw their way through, Ice’s breathing got even heavier. Crow’s paws began to shake too, and they made eye contact, both too tired to keep the branch down. As their hold began to loosen, the branch slipped out of their grasp, and Ice yelled as they were thrown backwards and the branch sprung up into the air.
“No! Crow, Ice, Don’t let go of the bark! Now look what you’ve done?!”
Crow closed her eyes, feeling a pain in her hind left paw, but she stood up anyway. It wasn’t that bad, but she was concerned with Ice, who appeared to have had a harder impact. She hopped forward, leaning over her ivory friend, and sitting back relieved when she realized the pup was just winded, not injured.
“Leaf, good job for letting go of your berry when you felt the branch go up.” Feather praised the startled pup, who sat shocked.
Realizing there were only three pups on the ground, Feather knitted her brow, looking around for the fourth. Ice pointed up with her muzzle, gulping, and they all looked up to see Rock still holding onto the blackberry.
“Rock? Are you ok up there? Hang on, i’ll just push the bark back down!” Feather quickly covered the thorns again and pushed down the branch, her larger size making it much easier for her to rapidly do the task.
“Hff… Puffhh.. Wow! Rock, you got one!” Feather exclaimed, grinning at the pup. He nodded shyly, offering the fruit to the mentor. “Who wants to have a bite?”
Leaf wrinkled his muzzle, eyeing Feather with repugnance. Ice snickered, yet came forward nonetheless, along with Crow.
“Leaf! Don’t look at me like that!” Feather laughed, “These are berries- Not rat poop!”»»————- ✼ ————-««
I got the idea to make Crow have a lazy eye because of a study on Crows that is shown
here.
I hope you enjoy reading my entry, even if it doesn’t get picked. It was so much fun to write! :D

Prompt answer;;
"Come along youngsters, Watch where you step, there are thorns!" Feather warned, which warranted a sigh from the black and white buck. Crow didn't have a problem with Feather, but the other young mice that surrounded him. It was because of their peppy and energetic nature that caused Feather to spout obvious warnings such as that one, and it always made him feel as though he wasn't as intelligent as he believed himself to be.
"Ice! Come back here! Oh, leaf, please watch where you’re going!" Feather squeaked with alarm, rushing after the two bouncy mice. Though, Crow supposed, their unwise decisions did make him feel as though he were more mature than his young age would suggest. He flashed a small smile as he watched his mentor struggle to get the others in line who were, admittedly, good at enjoying themselves.
"Now, just around this corner. Woah, WOAH! LEAF! Leaf? Oh, ok, I see. You thought you’d trick me into thinking you’re eating a rat poop, huh? Well, very funny. Come on, put that down, and let’s get moving." Feather huffed, dragging the other two mice back to the group by their ears. Crow couldn't help but chuckle as he looked at their pained faces, the mischievous glint still in their eyes.
The group continued walking, and slowly Crow began to grow impatient. Feather had just said it was just around the corner, and yet they had been walking for ten minutes after that. The groups bickering had begun to get on his nerves, and eventually he couldn't hold in a comment any longer, "We've been walking for ages, how far is it?" Feather turned and looked at him, then gave one of her classic smiles. "Oh Crow, stop complaining! We’re nearly there. Think of all those tasty berries! So sweet juicy… "
Crow quickly became unnerved as Rock, the mouse walking beside him, began to look too closely at the old berries scattered along the floor. As they went to grab one to take a bite Feather batted it out of their paws, shaking her head, "No Rock, don’t eat the ones on the ground, they’re all wormy." and she continued walking, discussing the wondrous taste of blackberries. Rock looked a little sheepish, so Crow gave them a reassuring nudge and a soft smile.
Eventually they managed to reach the spot Feather was talking about. "Now. Look up, do you see the blackberries, amongst the thorns? Anyone want to try get one? No? Good, because today you are going to learn how to harvest them without getting thorns in your paws," she instructed, her loud voice hushing the talkative mice, "Ok. See this bark on the ground? Good. Now Crow, Ice, each of you grab a piece and place it on this low branch like this, covering the thorns." Crow curiously followed her instructions, grabbing the piece of bark with Ice and placing it over the thorns. It was an interesting technique, and he could see how this could work.
"Now push down. Keep pushing, nearly there!" Feather chimed, as Crow and Ice began to push down on the bark.
"Yes! That’s it. Now Rock, Leaf, reach up like this and each of you grab hold of the base of a blackberry with your teeth. Now pull! Keep pulling!" She yelled encouragingly as Leaf and Rock slowly pulled the berries closer to the ground.
Crow was watching his companions with excitement as he felt the bark become harder to push. He turned to look at Ice, who's focus seemed to be so closed in on the berries that they had loosened their grip on the bark. "Ice don't..." He began, before the bark began slipping beneath his paws. "No! Crow, Ice, Don’t let go of the bark!" Feather squeaked, running towards the two in an attempt to grab it. Ice looked back in alarm as they realised what was happening and went to push harder, but it was too late and the bark slipped from their grasp. The branch snapped back up to it's original position, taking poor Rock with it.
"Now look what you’ve done?! Leaf, good job for letting go of your berry when you felt the branch go up." She praised the startled Leaf, who appeared to be staring with fright up at Rock. "Rock? Are you ok up there? Hang on, i’ll just push the bark back down…" Feather encouraged, doing Crow and Ice's job with ease. The branch came down lower and Rock was able to jump safely down. "Wow! Rock, you got one! Who wants to have a bite? " Feather said excitedly, patting Rocks head proudly. Rock beamed with pleasure as he held a sizeable berry in his grasp.
Crow sighed once again, but this time it was out of relief for his companions safety. Though he may not like these three, crazy mice and their attitudes, he couldn't help but be concerned for them. As they shared the berry together, which lived up to everything Feather had been rambling about earlier, he couldn't help but feel happy. "Leaf! Don’t look at me like that! These are berries- Not rat poop!" Feather chirped as Leaf gave her an unimpressed, disbelieving look. Crow shook his head. They may not be as bad as he thought they were, but they were just as eccentric.
(I'm sorry it's so long and I hope it's okay I used the prompts exactly? I don't know how Feather acts and I wanted it to be as accurate as possible)
