Purple gift wrap is a special item that you can use in order to get a better chance of giving away rarer gifts.

Macaroon gift wrap allows you to choose which species items you will gift.

"how do I use my gift wrap?"
purple: in the forum, you use to send a gift, under recipient, simply add 'I want to use my gift wrap!'
you need to add these under every forum you want to use a gift wrap on.

Macaroon: specify on each forum that you will use a macaroon gift wrap, make sure you put down exactly which of the four participating species you would like to use.

"what if I dont have any gift wrap?"
if you try and use gift wrap that you dont actually have no effect will be applied to the gift, it will be a normal roll.

"How do I get some gift wrap?"
gift wrap is in the prize queue. it's a mildly uncommon gift to receive.
