Adventure:
It was a routine cave dive with his rider in which Venture met his best friend. While Venture's rider was wandering through a cavern he had visited before, the gear safely in the saddlebag on his back, he heard the faint sound of snorting and a small, panicked whinny. He was quite shocked, but it was only a few moments before he realised someone was in trouble and he nudged the arm of his rider, giving a little snort and prancing on the spot. "What is it, boy?" Following the sound of the evidently panicked horse, Venture led her rider further into the cave.
Having been here before, he knew the cave back to front, as did his owner, and as he approached, and the whinnies grew louder, he realized that they were getting closer to the crater. In the middle of a big open cavern was a deep pit that had been caved in over many years, and it was quite deep. For those who didn't know it was there, it would be quite easy to fall into, and Venture worried that some damage had been done to whoever was in there.
As he reached the edge of the dip, he ducked his head down and gave a small whinny in return. There was a young horse down there, who had fallen and dislocated something in his shoulder. His rider quickly sprung into action and grabbed out a long, solid rope and a pickaxe. With a combination of carving away into the pit and the strength of the caving horse, they managed to pull the other horse out, able to prevent any further injury.
The younger horses name was Little, and he had wandered into the cave when he was bored and looking for something to do. After he got looked at by a veterinarian, Little joined Venture and his rider, and the two horses have been almost inseparable ever since.
To this day, whenever he and his rider go caving, either by themselves or with Little, training to be a cave horse, they have that same length of rope close at hand, looped around Ventur's neck or body or in his saddlebag, as a constant reminder to that day, and just in case...
After all, you never know when you're going to meet a new friend.
