wip my broski

HUGE WIP
His daydream was disintegrating before his eyes, washing away to reveal a bleak gray-black landscape doused in the waning evening light. And despite the dim yellow glow on the horizon, the world seemed a dark and shadowed place, and the territory was cast into a deep, dull blue twilight. The stars, Stormpaw noticed, had begun to appear - twinkling merrily in the sky. But, they too, seemed distant and cold.

"Stormpaw. Stormpaw. Are you deaf?
Stormpaw gave a great start, finally being jolted from his thoughts. He looked blankly at the cat that had appeared beside him, struggling to focus his gaze on their figure. A pale, blurred silver, with dark stripes that swirled hypnotizingly into a cool gray. Stormpaw stared, entranced.

"Stormpaw! Oh my stars, have you gone daft?"
"No," he mumbled in reply, tearing himself from that familiar hypnosis. But someone else had already said something, and another figure had appeared - this time a muddy brown. He, too, was marked with black stripes that danced when Stormpaw stared too intensely.
But, no, he hadn't said anything - he was just chuckling. Then, "Are you kidding? This is Stormpaw we're talking about. He's been daft, for ages now!"

More soft laughter, which for some reason sounded harsh and grating against Stormpaw's ears ; he could feel his stomach clench slightly, his face burn with a strange rush of blood. But, as soon as these strange emotions had surfaced, they sank back down again - back down into the blurry abyss.

"Ha, ha," he replied, deadpan. "Truly hysterical."
The brown one laughed even more, eyeing Stormpaw with a sharp orange gaze. So did Rainpaw (the one with lovely gray), whose laughter was gentler and more subdued. "Oh, Stormpaw. You know we mean it affectionately. Right, Birdchaser?"
Ah. So the brown one was Birdchaser. Stormpaw felt unsettled, then, thinking: but shouldn't I already know that?
That thought was not allowed much time to marinate inside of his sloppy, heavy head, because Birdchaser had fixed his unsettling orange stare on him once again. "Of course! Of course," a pause, then, "So! What all have you done today, Stormpaw? Any hunting? Patrolling? Speaking of which, where's your mentor been?"

"A bit of everything," he replied mindlessly, trying to fix his attention on something else. Like maybe Rainpaw's eyes, which were a lovely, sun-shine yellow. He wished he could see more yellow around here. She smiled under his stare. "And.. yeah, some hunting, I guess. And Fernpelt is on some trip."
"Ah. Ah, okay. But you don't seem to be doing too much, now, are you? Just sitting and watching the world pass you by." Birdchaser sneered, swishing his tail maliciously. "How long've you been doing that for, eh? Since sunrise?" But his words were distant and fading against the backdrop of everything else in Stormpaw's head. He nodded blankly, looking away from the smiling Rainpaw, trying to focus. Trying to anchor himself to the present.

"Since sunrise?" Birdchaser scorned, incredulous. "I thought you said you'd been hunting."
Rainpaw sighed her gentle sigh, swishing her tail back and forth. "Oh, let him alone," she chastised, narrowing her eyes at Birdchaser. But then she, too, glanced at Stormpaw, and in her eyes he could see a sort of disapproval. His heart, strangely, gave a sad little wrench.

Birdchaser finally relented, sweeping his gaze from Stormpaw and to the forest behind, which hummed with nighttime life, despite the chill starting to set in. "Oh, alright," he breathed, slinking over to Rainpaw and rubbing his cheek affectionately against hers. She grinned softly, flushed with quiet delight, and suddenly Stormpaw found himself getting up, too. His fur bristled a little bit, the first time in a while. He was not really the confrontational sort, but this gesture really rubbed him the wrong way, oddly.

But Birdchaser didn't seem to notice Stormpaw's irritation, he was too busy babbling again. That was the annoying thing about him, Stormpaw realized, he just couldn't shut up.
"Yeah.. I think I'll be joining the night patrol tonight. I'm exhausted - from all that I've done today - but there's a distinct lacking in capable warriors these days and I think I've got to fill in. Haven't you noticed? A whole lot of aging cats and a couple that are.. well," he twitched his head slightly in Stormpaw's direction, a subtle gesture that Stormpaw himself didn't even catch. "you know. A bit off."

Rainpaw frowned at this statement, her face crinkling with a confusing mixture of emotions. But then Birdchaser was tenderly brushing is tail over her side, and her concern dissipated into something strange and giddy, and she beamed at him again.

------------------------
Then came more talking, and more laughter, and just generally a whole lot of other sounds that began to appear very loud and overwhelming to Stormpaw, who was struggling to take it all in.
Night had fallen, thick and cold and syrupy and black, and everything was cast in a horrible sort of shadow. But there was a whole lot of hustle and bustle in the camp - cats strolling around and some huddling in groups, shivering in their skin. Maybe he could hear their bones rattle, if he tried hard enough.
Indeed, it was cold, far colder than it was in the twilight. The stars glittered stupidly in the sky, happy as they always were - Stormpaw resented them for it.

In the distance the Twoleg Place shined, too, but those lights were brighter and warmer-looking - lovely oranges and yellows that reminded Stormpaw of summer. He focused on them, thinking of the hot summer sun and the chilled creek and the bright green leaves that devoured the landscape. The smell of grass and little blooms and the earth baking under the sun's intense glow.
He wrinkled his nose, as if to smell it, but found that he couldn't.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You," she seer said quietly, eyes locking with Storm----'s. His blood instantly ran cold, and he turned away, trying to dissolve into the crowd that had gathered.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was storming. Not the dark, brooding kind of cloud-cover one might expect under such circumstances. Rather, the sky was a broiling, medium gray, with a thick mist that hung wet and heavy over the forest. Lightning occasionally flashed overhead, brief flickers of white that one could hardly distinguish from the rest of the sky - that would then lead to a great clap of thunder that made the earth tremble in fear.

Stormseeker gazed up through the foliage, squinting to see through the heavy rainfall that was whipping through the air in thick sheets. He soon realized it to be a useless endeavor - the tops of the trees were shrouded in ancient, damp mist that made it hard even to see the leaves. The fog swirled hypnotizingly, a thick veil cast over the earth below, and stormchaser found himself staring mindlessly into that void for quite the while. Falling back into his old habits.
In any case, this was a new land - the earth was outstandingly green and the leaves grew thickly upon the trees, which stood near each other in a dense maze of forest. The remaining forest floor was covered either in a plush carpet of moss and fallen foliage (which was damp and smelled of mildew) or a whole lot of brush. Bracken with thorns that pricked, massive plumes of ferns with glittering water droplets, and many more plants that Stormchaser could barely hope to identify.

And he was, for the first time in his entire life, completely alone. For good. And he found that his head was getting clearer by the day, or perhaps it just seemed that way. His mind was no longer so heavy and cold and distant. His skin felt warm and tingly with his newfound vivacity ; with excitement and fear and a gentle kind of happiness that warmed his blood and felt like the summer sun was flowing inside his veins. It was such a nice feeling.

Perhaps that seer, that ratty old seer, had been right. Stormseeker grinned slightly at the notion
-------------------------------------------

He could hear faint whispers in the wind rushing through the trees - small phrases and words that he could almost catch, but would slip just out of his reach. He shuddered terribly, sinking to the ground out of such an intense feeling of unease that he could hardly bear it.

There - a slipping shadow of a figure. That was definitely a cat. Right?
But it had disappeared into the mist as soon as he turned his head - and Stormchaser squinted, trying to catch it again. Raindrops pelted his back, soaking him to the bone, but he didn't dare move.

Then, a voice - clear and commanding and stern. "Who are you?" she said firmly, "Why are you here?"
Stormchaser whipped around, his skin humming with a sudden burst of energy. He stared, wide eyes and admittedly very afraid, at the she-chat who had appeared behind him.
She was real, definitely, or perhaps she

Cat Name: Aspenwhisper
Rank: Warrior
Clan: Slateclan
Age: 17 moons
Future:
Aspenwhisper has never been much of a planner, simply because he doesn't want to get his hopes up and end up being disappointed if he happened to expect something else. To prevent that, he mainly takes life as it is, rather have it come his way spontaneously while trying to lead it as easy going as it gets without regret as he looks back on it.

Already starting in his kithood, all the other kits were exclaiming what fine and great warriors they would become and in apprentice years, everyone wondered what their warrior names would be. Dreaming big, that's what they did, but Aspenwhisper never really cared much about these things. Either you turn out to be lucky or unlucky, but if you had no exceptions to begin with, you won't be sad or mad about the outcome.

Generally, the tom is level-headed and down to earth, but exactly you social butterfly among the crowd neither the outsider alone in a corner, just your average clanmate. However, although he's still pretty young and became a warrior just a while ago, Aspenwhisper is rather smart and mature for his age, rivaling other cats that have been in their duty far longer.

He's witty, quickly connecting pieces of information and fairly strategic, adjusting his actions and behavior the given situation to receive the best result. Although he's not very strong, more so a flash in the wind, his movements are fast and precise, easily dodging bulky opponents. Making it up by being quick on his paws and using his brain skillfully.

However, there's a certain case where the tom is still green behind the ears, nothing like his usual collected self; it's love. In fact, he's a hopeless romantic fool, highly naive to say the least. Assuming things, wishing and hoping only to get kicked in the gut by the truth following after. Like this, Aspenwhisper is easy to trick, far too trusting/believing as they sneak their way into his heart just to get a paw on the possibly valuable information he holds. Simply outsmarting him.

Being nothing more than the juvenile he is, the tom does indeed wish for a mate, a loving partner to call his companion, another he can share memories with, someone he can lean on for support in times of need. Simply put, a cat he can trust in, cheer and even pick each other up if life is hard.

Although it may not seem like it, but the young warrior is doing fairly well in leading patrols around and hunts that include hard to catch prey, yet never been assigned as the head of anything by his clanmate, simply became of his age. However, Sagestar, over time started noticing his unusual talent but Aspenwhisper would never agree as being more than a mere follower, too humble.

    future:

mottlemist bounced around camp, she and her mate, crowheart, found out she was expecting kits.
she hoped she can bring the best life for her kits and raise them to be great warriors, or medicine
cat if that is their dream.
    "coalstar!," she mewed deighlitfully
the grey tom turned around to see the exuberant marbled tabby.
"hello mottlemist, what has you in such a good mood today?"
"oh just that i'm expecting kits!," she meowed cheerfully and did a little dance. coalstar's face began
    to light-up.
"that is great news!," he replied.
mottlemist smiled, said her thanks and went to talk to her mate. as she went to find him, her mind
wandered to a place that made her think about her future more than ever.
"my kits are going to be my life," she sighed out loud, "i will protect them with my life and pray
to starclan they will lead them on a wonderful path.
" she padded on to find crowheart, but before she
went on she took a stop by the waterfall. she looked at her reflection, will i be a good mother? mot
tlemist questioned herself. a figure appeared beside her in the water. it was her mate, the love of her life.
    "crowheart," she muttered.
"yes my love?" he replied softly
"what do you think our kits will look like?"
