prompt; Ophelia believes in many things. Many wonderful things that she could never explain. Often seeing these beautiful visions, and people. Seeing deep down in their stories. She inherited down from her great great grandmother. The visions that is. Her first vision she had been in a flower field. So many crying faces, and voices. Sorrow filling and aching her heart. After that vision, going to her grandmother. Who heard all the stories from her grandmother, believing her granddaughter's visions haunting her. Filling her life with a great sadness and anger. Unable to take it, she understood she had to go to family. That being she found her self at some weird kind of alter with her grandmother. Wilted flowers, and bones all around it. Seemingly dreadful though. Her great great grandmother had the same visions, haunting her every night. Letting it tear into her like a sword. Until she use flowers as an offering, or blessing in a way. Using them was the key to her happiness, and thought it would fill up light everyone else's lives. Leaving a signature bone skull, and a flowers wrapped around it. Death, and life. Beauty, and horror. Both equal out and create something wonderful. Ophelia leaves them as offerings at the alter to this day, and for other peoples lives as well. Leaving other Kalons their own little blessing.

It's cold here and I'm starting to hate. I know I know...I have to be proud to be out here. Mama and Papa as well as Auntie and her husband put in a lot of work to get me here...but I don't understand why it has to be so cold! Ugh, back home, the weather would only change by two degrees and you could still leave the house in shorts and sandals. Out here, you have to wear literally three years worth of winter clothes because the temperature can drop into the negatives.
It sucks but I shouldn't complain. Most would sacrifice a lot to be where I'm at and a whole lot more could be in a worse position. I don't honestly, I have only a few more years left. I can make it (I hope). My professor does his best to make the lectures entertaining but honesty, it goes better watered down afterwards. I wish Mama and Papa Merry Christmas in a letter recently. I hope they get it soon, I have all my joys and woes in their for them to sympathize and laugh with me! <3

~~~~~~~~~~
Christmas nears and I'm starting to get a better understanding of how they celebrate it here in Germany. They have these thing called (in English Translation), the Advent Calendar. Families but a little Christmas presents filled with trinkets on their Christmas trees for 24 days. Speaking of Christmas trees, the university put a 20ft tall one up in the main lobby! We had played secret santa throughout the campus and now the tree has a steady growing amount of presents under it. I got a guy in my class. I don't know much about besides the fact he likes gloves so I might give him a pair (I know, it sucks)!
Anyways, today I was walking around campus after classes when I noticed a tree in the middle of the campus garden. Clinging to the very tip of a black, shriveled branch was a blooming pink flower. It seemed odd. No flower should be blooming but it was lasting in that frost. Just gazed at it honestly. Wanted to pluck it off because of the beauty but couldn't bring myself to do it. I was just about to leave when someone else appeared beside me...
Dec. 11th 2018 {continued}
I was a bit shocked at her presence but she wasn't harming anyone. She was looking at the flower just like me. She wasn't wearing layers like me but was wearing a red fitted trench coat, black tights, and some fur boots as well as her hair tied into a bun with her ears exposed. I know she was cold but she wasn't shivering at all and here I was trembling like a wet puppy.
She pulled back the black scarf wrapped around her mouth and asked me if I thought the flower was beautiful. I told her yes and she proceeded to introduce herself.
Her name is Sayuri. I foolishly asked if it was foreign and she happily told me it was a foreign name given by her grandmother. I told her mine was Azalea but most called me Lea and she told me my name was pretty. I never blushed so hard ever. Anyways, we chatted for a while, longer than I expected, and she asked for me to come back tomorrow. I laughed, more out of nervousness, but promptly told her sure. I wonder how well this will go.
~~~~~~~~~~

Sorry for not being able to write before, yesterday was just great! Sayuri took me to a local café and we had some delicious apple strudel as well as a nice cup of coffee. She told me a little more about herself as well. Her father and mother had passed when shenwas young but her grandmother took her in. She's now been traveling to different countries every month to explore them in the sake of her grandma who can't travel. I asked how she's able to do all that and she says she just knows people all over.
I told her about my small town life in Arizona back in the states. She joked telling me that she understands now why I wear so many layers, I'm so used to the desert heat! Told her that I didn't grow up with riches so I'm very lucky to be here right now. She makes me fill so relaxed around so easily.
She then told me about this talent her grandma gave her, making origami flowers. She made one of the pink flower back in the garden which I thought was extremely nice. She even offered to teach me! Maybe I will try it, it seems hard but Sayuri told me it's quite easy with patience. Maybe I'll try it and ship some over to Mama and Papa

Dec. 14th 2018
~~~~~~~~~
I thought she was joking when she offered to teach me how to male origami flowers. I got a text from her one mourning asking to meet up at the tree again. (I gave her my number, she seems nice enough!) I threw on a thick fleece sweater and dragged myself out there. Low and behold, she was waiting for me with another paper.flower in her hands!
We walked the distance to her little studio apartment uptown, it wasn't for from the campus. It's a cute thing, cramped but cute. Her dog, a shiba inu named Kimi, was quite happy to see us. I complimented on her little home and dog and she gladly told me to make myself comfortable. I plopped myself on her sofa and myself acquainted with Kimi and his wagging tail when she came out with stacks of colorful paper! Here we go!
Sayuri spent a good hour and a half teaching me the basics of origami and how to start folding different flowers. I missed up a few times but eventually I caught the swing of it! She told me to come back tomorrow to help me brazen up my skills!
- Love, Lea <3
Dec. 22th 2018
~~~~~~~~~~

It's hard work but once you get it, you can master it. I've been making about a good 100-200 origami flowers by myself since the 16th. It's not so hard but speed counts. Sayuri has been making just as many with the help of some of her own friends. We have this big surprise coming for central Berlin, Germany Christmas day!

- Love, Lea <3

Dec. 25th 2018
~~~~~~~~~~
Merry Christmas! I got some gifts from Mama and Papa and my secret santa, a girl named Liza, gave me a really pretty t-shirt!
Anyways, I had to meet Sayuri in the middle of the town square with some of her friends. It was cold but I really wanted to do this. She led me to her guy friend's truck that had all our paper flowers carefully packed in various backpacks. The townsquare was bustling with happy people. Once we had all we could carry, Sayuri gave the signal.
I have to say, it was a really amazing feeling. Going up to random people and handing them a flower. Some were confused but thankful while others gratefully took it with many thanks. Its so wonderful handing them to others and watching their eyes turn bright. I gave many of mine to folks that were alone, children, and even to the homeless. Watching Sayuri as well give flowers was just as wonderful.
Once our backpacks were empty and literally everyone had a flower, we took a good long break by the truck after. It was a wonderful moment I would love to re-live again!
      "For me?" Ivvy asked, her graying hair flowing with the gentle breeze. Ana nodded."You looked like you could use a little cheering up today, so I made you a flower crown!" Ana said, a bright smile on her face. It warmed Ana's heart to see another smile, and she felt happy herself knowing that she had made someone else happy.
      ---
      "Have courage and be kind," her mother had said to her. Ana wept as her mother lay in her death bed. "And remember to smile. If not for yourself than for others... for me." Ana felt tears rolling down her cheeks, and offered her mother a smile as her final breath left her body, a weak smile making it's way as she closed her eyes for the last time. Ana's lip trembled but she smiled at her mother, such a beautiful, kind, gracious woman. She kissed her mother's forehead, and on her chest placed a single, red rose. The last flower she had cut together with her mother.
      Ana took a moment to think on her mother's dying words, and swore that she would live by them. Her mother had been nothing but good to her, it was the least she could do.
      ---
      Ivvy reminded Ana of her mother quite a lot. Perhaps that was part of the reason she enjoyed spending time with Ivvy. "Would you want to go see a movie or just get some ice cream and take a walk in the park?" Ana asked suddenly, startling herself and Ivvy out of her thoughts. Ivvy was surprised at the sudden gesture, but agreed to ice cream and a walk in the park.
      They had a good time together, Ana told Ivvy how she reminded her of her mother in more ways than one. They laughed and Ivvy even shared memories of her own mother, and how for a while, she had forgotten her childhood completely. Ana was amazed at the stories Ivvy had to tell, and could barely keep herself from asking to hear more and more after she had already heard so many.
      Later in the week, Ivvy and Ana went around spreading joy by giving others flowers and flower crowns made from flowers from each others gardens, brightening many a kalons days, even just a little bit.
It was a quiet day when she was caught there. The family flower shop that had been running for generations was empty except for Jenny and the lazy bumblebee that had floated inside. Then in came the chief of police, face shadowed as he moved his way past the rows of blooming flowers.In a small town like Jenny's, word travels fast. A crowd was gathered outside the shop and the only news van in the county was parked on the curb, dainty reporter shoving the microphone in the police chief's face the second he exited with Jenny in tow. The usually spunky girl seemed flat, deflated. Her head was hung low as she locked up the shop with shaking hands. So, this was it. The end of the Franklin County Flower Thief. Still, she wouldn't take back the things she did. The actions that had impacted so many people were not those of a cowardly girl, and Jenny was prepared to take the secret to the grave.
The crowd followed them to the station, a line that marked the end for Jenny. The end to the image she had built. The chief led her in with a hand on her shoulder, using his whole body to protect her from the confused and accusing glaring of the other town members. They were old friends, after all. Jenny fell roughly into the chair at the interrogation room, twiddling her thumbs nervously as the Chief sat down.
"Sooooo, why did you bring me in here, Chief? Did I do something wrong?" She asked innocently, her smile tricking the anxiety that was building quickly in her gut. The chief leaned way back in his chair, stroking a bushy mustache for a moment. He sighed sadly and shook his head.
"It's crazy, really." His gruff voice began, booming through the room despite his hesitant tone. "One of my detectives.. Well, you know about the Franklin flower thief, right? The one they're calling a 'Robin Hood' of the modern days?" The chief asked, leaning forward to fold his arms across the table. Jenny just nodded, barely keeping herself from gulping loudly as sweat dripped down the side of her face.
"One of my detectives- I don't even know where he got this from- seems to think it's you. Now, I know how that sounds. It sounds crazy! But I just need your alibi for the nights the flower thief stole flowers and money from a couple of people. Then you're free to go!" He said with a little smile. Jenny tried to smile back, but it seemed more like a grimace. She noticed for the first time a camera by the door, red light blinking.
"Sure, I can tell you my alibi for those nights. But can you turn off that camera? It's making me nervous." The chief glanced at the camera and smiled warmly.
"Oh, of course! It's not like you're a criminal or anything, so it's no big deal." He chuckled heartily and flopped back down in his chair, resuming his previous position with folded arms. Jenny felt her throat constricting and more sweat dripping down her face as she stared at him. She had made pretty good alibis for those nights. She had put up safeguards to protect herself in this exact situation. But in this moment, she was frozen. The alibis she had worked so hard to form slipped away, leaving her with nothing but the truth.
"Chief, I-" Jenny began, but all of a sudden there was a commotion outside the door. The chief stood and held up a finger to her, opening the door to talk to a policeman briefly and eyes widening as he saw the angry crowd at the door. All the people that had followed them, vouching for Jenny and shouting encouragement for her bravery and strength against a police station that OBVIOUSLY doesn't know what they're talking about. Jenny felt warmth flood her heart as the answers rolled right back to her. After a few minutes, the Chief was able to quell the crowd and came back, sighing heavily as he sat back down.
"Where were we? Oh yeah, that's right. Ok Jenny, I'll tell you a date and what the flower thief did and when, so you tell me where you were." Said the chief, pulling a small notebook out of his chest pocket. Jenny nodded with a little smile, confident now.
"May 2nd around 10pm the flower thief stole $800 and all of the hydrangeas out of the home of the CEO of Mallmart. Three days later, a hydrangea bouquet and $800 show up at a struggling food pantry." Said the chief, glancing up at Jenny.
"May 2nd..? Oh, yeah! I was at the shop working late! You can ask the shop keepers around me- I was there pretty much all night in the backroom." She said with a smile. "But I won't tell him about how I really just accidentally left the lights on."
"Great! Ok, uhh... May 18th, estimated around 12AM, the flower thief stole the mayor's prized tulips and $1,300 cash. 5 days later, about 50 beautiful tulip bouquets and seemingly random amounts of money are delivered across the county to animal conservation efforts." The chief looked up from his notebook and raised in eyebrow. Jenny pretended to think for a moment to drive away suspicion.
"I was packing! I actually went on vacation for a week. Couldn't have been me!" She smiled. "Five days travelling around the county and two days spent at the lake up north is still a vacation, right? It's kinda the mayor's fault, anyway, for having that much cash just lying around his house. I mean seriously, that was kinda ridiculous."
"Ok, just one last date. And, uh, if you could keep this one on the down-low, that would be great. It kinda hasn't reached the press yet. June 4th, around 3PM- right in broad daylight. You remember how the president was visiting for a short time? Something about seeing his hometown where it all began? Well, the flower thief stole pretty much the entire rose bush from his mother's front yard, as well as- get this- $3,000." The chief's eyes shone as he spoke about this. Obviously, the flower thief had impressed him with the latest feat. Jenny could barely keep herself from glowing at his attitude towards the thief- AKA, her.
"Woah, that's crazy! How'd she even pull that off?" Jenny said in amazement. The chief nodded vigorously in agreement.
"His guards still aren't sure how it happened. It's crazy, right? Well.. you didn't hear this from me, but the guy kinda deserved it. Waltzing around here like he owned the place.. talking so rudely about the mayor.. it wasn't right. I don't think what the thief does its right, but I can appreciate it. Anyways, your alibi?" The chief asked. Jenny blinked a few times, caught off-guard.
"Oh- well, I was at the rally the president threw with just about everyone else in town. My name's on the entry list, so you can just look at that to confirm it." Jenny said with a smile. The chief slowly stood. "Of course, I snuck out, so my name isn't on the exit list. Of all the people I've robbed, the president deserved it the most. First off, he made it way too easy to rob his house, especially knowing a thief that targets the rich is running rampant. Second off, $3000 CASH??? Who in the WORLD keeps that much cash on them. He totally deserved it."
"I think we're done here, Jenny. You're free to go." He said warmly. He walked Jenny outside, where the bored crowd had eventually dispersed. After looking both ways to make sure it was just them, the chief leaned down to Jenny's ear.
"I really loved those roses from your store. In the back,all those pretty rose bouquets. I won't tell a soul, don't worry. But be more careful. The FBI is going to pick up this case soon 'cause the president was robbed. It's a big deal. Be careful." He whispered, then stood back up with a huge grin. Jenny gave him a big hug, smile plastered across her face as he drove her back to her tiny flower shop and the roses that looked suspiciously exactly like the president's mother's beautiful pink-and-yellow strawberry lemonade rose bush.
Felicity was a strong believer in that spreading positivity was a key element to a happy and healthy community. She lived up on a quiet hill, but would come down to the plaza in order to spread said positivity through any means she could. Whether that'd be helping out with gardening, construction, aiding kalons of an older age, anything, really. Many other kalons would great her with a wide smile and a wave, getting other's attention with a familiar "oh hey, it's Felicity!"
Doing her usual rounds for the day, Felicity came across a rather gloomy scene: a young kit with their head held down above a patch of cracked soil, nothing but a few damp drops from supposed tears and a wilted plant of some sort. "Hey little one, what's the matter?" She said in a soft and comforting voice, taking a seat next to the kit. "Oh... Well, I just... I just wanted to grow some daisies for my mother... She is very sick and it's her favorite flower, I know it would make her happy if I brought one to her." The young kalon sniffled, making it obvious that they were about to break into tears. "Oh no, please don't cry! Here, let me help you. I happen to have some daisy seeds on me, we can plant them and grow more."
"You would really help me?"
"Of course! Let's get started."
And so, the two started on the small patch of garden, Felicity guiding the kit through the steps of how to grow flowers. She wanted to say it was looking hopeful, but in actuality, it wasn't. The kit would put too much soil, not enough water, put the seeds too much together... Really, they did little right, and Felicity had serious doubts that this would work out. It sent her into a state of worry, especially as the day progressed and the sun started to set.
"Alright... This looks good to go! Let's see what happens tomorrow, I'll come back and visit you at dawn." Felicity said once the work was finished, hiding her doubtful nature at the time.
"Yeah... Thank you so much, miss! I better go back inside and check on my mother."
And with that, the young kit scampered off in an excited fashion back to their house. It made Felicity's heart ache, knowing that there was absolutely no way that flowers could grow under the given conditions the kit gave... She pondered ways to fix it, heading back to her own home in order to do so.
Pacing back in forth in her kitchen in her small, burrow-like home, she thought about ideas for the flowers. "It's hopeless... And I can't buy seeds until next month, what to do..." She mused, eventually looking out her window and at her own garden. Her eyes glanced over every neat flower she had planted and nurtured to full health, knowing she had spent years of hard work and determination to ensure the flowers would bloom to their fullest potentials. Everything from the brilliant roses, to the prideful lillies, to the colorful pansies, and to the bright... Daisies.
"Do I really want to do this?" She thought silently, her eyes studying the full, snow white of the daisies' petals and the crisp yellow middle. "They took me years to grow... No, Felicity, someone needs them more than I do."
The very next morning, at the peak of dawn, there stood an absolutely exhasted Felicity standing in the middle of a patch of snow-white daisies where the cracked disaster of a garden once stood by the kit's house. Her paws were dirtied and beat from the overnight job, but she stayed dedicated no matter the cost as she planted the very last flower, covering its roots with soil. She suddenly heard a gasp a couple feet away from her.
"What?! How!" were the words that were exclaimed, coming from the familiar kit she met with yesterday, their eyes gleaming in awe.
"I don't know how you did it, little one, but looks like your hard work made all the flowers grow overnight." Felicity grinned, putting on the facade that it was the kit's work that somehow made fully-grown flowers appear in the middle of the night rather than her doings.
"I don't even know what to say... Thank you, Felicity, mama's going to be so happy!" The kit cheered, beads of tears forming in their eyes as they gave Felicity a tight hug.
"Why are you thanking me? I only helped you, you did this all yourself. Now why don't you pick a nice one out for your mother?"
"Yeah... How about this one? She'll love it!" The kit laughed, picking out a full and near perfect flower near them. They raced back into their home afterward, clearly not wanting to wait any longer.
"Was this really all worth it?" Felicity asked herself as she looked around at the daisies, knowing it would be many moons until she could achieve them again. As she thought, she noticed a light go on in the house, revealing the kit and another kalon in bed, presumably their mother. The kit wore a bright and jolly expression on their face, much in contrast than the previous day as they chatted away with their mother, showing the small daisy off to its fullest.
A grin appeared on Felicity's face as she witnessed the tender moment. "Yes... It was."
Dear Diary,
As I was walking home after a very late shift down at the cafe, I saw a sweet looking kalon sitting outside a flower shop. She was sitting there with a sign. Now, I usually don't go anywhere near kals on the street because they are usually homeless and it just breaks my heart to see kals who have it that bad, but I was feeling adventurous that night. Also I had a very good night of tips and was willing to help a kal out. As I got closer to her, she looked clean, healthy, and well taken care of. I was a bit confused why she was sitting there at first but I read her sign. It said, or what I thought it said was, "Leave some change for those less fortunate than yourself, Leave with a beautiful flower." Now at first I was confused, but then I broke my number one rule of living in the city, never make eye contact.
She had gorgeous eyes. Like don't get me wrong, I love Anethan, but this girl's eyes were something I would love to get lost in. Anyways I starred into her beautiful blue eyes. She looked back into my eyes. She then smiled and spoke. Her voice like silk. She said something along the lines of, and I am probably remembering this wrong with my terrible memory, but it was along the lines of, "Hi there cutie! Do you have some spare change that you can donate to the lesser off kalons tonight? If so, you can pick any flower you would like from my bundle here!" She had like over 10 dozen flowers, all colors and types included. I could only mumble out a few words and the dumb words I spoke was, "Why are you doing this?" I know what a dumb question.
She responded with such a soft tone and with a little bit of heartbreak that you could hear. She talked about her brother was homeless because her parents kicked him out of the house when they found out he was gay. She would always send him her allowance to help him get on his feet. He tragically died that next winter because of frost. It brought a tear to my eye, I'm not going to lie. But then she looked back into my soul, and I swear she pulled on my heartstrings when she said she tries to get as many homeless kals homes and off the street by taking her own flowers from her own flower store and giving them out as incentive for people to give her their change to go to homeless foundations.
I'm so surprised that I didn't just break down in full on tears. I gave her all my tips for the night. She looked at the wad of cash and she got up and hugged me tightly. I was a little shocked but they way she hugged me felt warm and good. She let go of me and motioned towards the flowers. I picked up a teal colored bellflower. I continued to walk home after waving to her. She really changed my view on the world. I don't know, I may just be super tired, but I think I am going to dry the bellflower and keep it. But tonight has been a really interesting night. Anethan is sleeping on the sofa again so I best be getting to sleep before he wakes up.
Love,
Sam
She doesn't really dabble in cars so much as stereos, computers, drones and robots, as well as older things like vintage music boxes or clocks. Needless to say she's very hands on and she appreciates those who are also very hands on so it's often she'll give out flowers to other like craftsmen. Construction workers, painters, window washers, even cashiers are often 'victims' of her flower gifting. She also tends to give out flowers to strangers who happen to be wearing a shirt with one of her favorite words or who happen to say them, however she has never really presented an exact list or told anyone what her favorite words are. Fey typically waits for the end of a sentence before gifting flowers so as to keep the secret hidden.
name; Ayana; beautiful flower
gender; Female
prompt; Ayana is one of those people that you meet for only a second, yet completely changes your day. Every morning at eight - seven if she feels especially pumped up - she goes to her mother's flower shop and fills her little yellow woven basket with small flowers (big ones won't work with what she's planning to do) to the brim. By now it's bound to be the hour when everybody starts going to work and school, which might not be the best. But Ayana fixes this. You see, Ayana isn't the tallest among other kalons her age, but that doesn't stop her from giving out her flowers... and in a particularly... Ayana way. She won't just hand you the flowers. Oh, sure, she'll ask you if you want one, but it's not like she's going to wait for your answer. She'll jump up to your head (she'll climb up there if you're tall) and carefully snuggle them into your hair. Then she'll prance off like a bunny, ready for the next person. She won't hear your "thank you!" or your curses of surprise, or whatever you might say (she can't, either). She believes that maybe, just maybe, this little act may brighten your once mundane day.
