after some tough debates with myself, I've determined for certain this babe will go up for adoption. Originally when I posted the ticket, I thought I would but I had to rethink it some when I saw how cute this kid turned out. But I didn't really have any plans or ideas, and I still really wanted to put this kid ufa. c: So if you're interested, the contest will be in this post; just check out all the rules. c:

I wasn't sure what to make the prompt, and even though this is a hatchery adoption and not a technical breeding between my couple Farley and Nereida, I do still want to take them both into account when making this comp. So for the "prompt", it'll be "What is their dream, goal or aspiration?" I feel like this ties into both of the parents when I made their personalities and I'd love to see what they aspire to. It doesn't have to be something big like becoming a leader, or taking over the world - something as simple as wanting someone to share their life with or kids is just as worthy to aspire to.

Also, it's not required that this kid have any connections with the parents; however, if you'd like to have relationships with them and/or their daughter, then that's just fine too! I'll leave some info on all three of them in case you want it. c:

xxxThe gentle waves lapped at the shore, curling back as they retreated into the lake before another would take their place. Upon them was carried a delicate morning breeze, lifting and tugging every so carefully at the braids that were nestled upon the young Viscling's shoulders. A frown was etched into her young features, forehead scrunched into a look of concern and childish fear as she gazed upon the gentle lake. It was a stretch of clear water, the distant horizon occupied with the sight of the other community.

xxx"Aris? Honey, aren't you going to get in?" Her mother questioned softly from her spot behind her, watching her youngest daughter with a warm light glittering in her eyes. Damaris turned her head at the sound of her nickname, her fins pressing back as she gave a light whimper, bottom lip popping out with the oh-so-famous puppy eyes. Nereida arched a brow, pushing herself to stand and make her way down the sandy shore before settling beside the Viscling.

xxx"Mother... I don't like the water... It's... scary." Damaris nestled into her mother's comforting touch, peering out into the distance with a hint of fear and disgust swimming in her eyes. Nereida gave a warm laugh, stroking her paw down her back as she watched her daughter nestle into her pelt further. She wasn't going to force her daughter in if she wasn't ready or didn't feel safe to. Damaris stuck her tongue out at the waves, puffing her cheeks as a tiny hmpf left her.

xxx"I wish I could be like you or daddy, or even Amalthea... You guys don't care if the water looks scary or not." Damaris sighed, head dropping in defeat as she felt her eyes begin to water with tears of frustration. She just wanted to overcome her fear of the lake. Her family wasn't cursed with such a plague! Only she was and it was... terrible. She hated feeling like she held her family back. Nereida sighed, leaning down to cover her daughter in reassuring nuzzles and kisses. The tears dried from her cheeks and a giggle bubbled from Damaris's lips. She playfully flopped against her mommy, sighing in content.

xxx"One day, mama, I will go out into the lake, no matter how much I don't want to." The young Viscling declared, tilting her head back to peer up at Nereida. The older female smiled down at Damaris, love radiating from her eyes.

xxx"Of course, my sweet, I have no doubt you will." Nereida cooed her belief, giving a playful kiss to her forehead. Damaris giggled, nuzzling her face into Nereida's side, giving a purr as her mother wrapped her arms around her in a comforting hug. After a moment of debate, Damaris finally pulled away, marching down to where the waves lapped.

xxx"Aris?" Her mother's voice called after in worry. Damaris threw a grin at her mom before turning back around. She puffed her chest up, coming to a reluctant stop just as a wave rolled up over the sand, barely grazing the tips of her paws. Damaris gulped, fins pinning back before she slowly inched her way after the wave as it pulled back, heart thumping heavily in her chest. She came to a stop, ready to flee if she felt she needed to. Her paws itched feverishly with the need to run, not enjoying being so close to the dreaded thing that plagued her entire body in fear.

xxxShe stepped forward, everything seemed to happen in slow motion now. Damaris's eyes snapped shut as her paw finally was submerged in the cold water, a gasp tearing itself from her lips at the sensation. Her eyes ripped open as she stared at her paw in wonder. Time seemed to stand still now, her eyes wide in astonishment at the feeling of the water flowing around her paw. Yet she was yanked from her spot as a wave tore in, bubbling and rolling with rage. Damaris cried out and scrambled backward in fear, fins flaring as she dove behind Nereida for comfort. Her mother leaned back to gently stroke her neck as she sniffled, tears bubbling. Her small body was shaking and she dug into Nereida's arms. Damaris finally broke away partly to peer up at her mother, voice cracking as her eyes gleamed with large crocodile tears.

xxx"M-Mother.. One day I-I will have enough courage like you t-to face my fear of water... I will make that my life's goal." The tiny Viscling croaked out, sniffling as she dragged her paw over her eyes. A gentle smile crossed Nereida's face and she leaned down to kiss her forehead.

xxxShe heaved the goods into the bag hanging off the side of the large beast. He gave a huffing rumble, adjusting his stance so it didn't affect him too much. Damaris sighed, leaning back as she dragged her paws over her cheeks, shaking her head. Her braids knocked against her neck as she did before rustling back as she briefly tided her mane. Standing back up, Damaris raised a paw to fix her thin half-moon spectacles, tilting her head up to smile at the large Iguanodon. He gave a low rumble, shaking out carefully, body weighed down with various bags of Damaris's materials and work studies. The Iguanodon was one of her many loyal tames that didn't wander too far from her home but this time, he was the lucky candidate to travel alongside her because today was her typical long journey back to her parents' home to see them for a few days.

xxxDamaris had picked up her father's love for traveling, making it far into the world to see what she could come across. She left home in her teenage years despite her urge to want to stay close to both Nereida and Farley. It was a struggle for her, as she had no true idea how to survive on her own. Though her urge to travel carried her, leading her across the lands in a search for something she knew nothing of. Damaris had ended up settling down on her own in a location that was home to just a few dinosaurs, deep within a forest where it appeared she had it all to herself. From there, Damaris picked up studying in gemology and even marine biology, despite her lingering fear of the water. Both studies let her travel far from her new home but she always wound up back, settling down after a long day of work. Luckily, she had agreed before leaving her parents that she would visit them regularly, and she did just that.

xxxFixing her long black scarf, Damaris gently patted the Iguandon on the side. He tilted his head to peer down at her, eyes glimmering with hope at the chance to see more than the usual towering tree and if Damaris was certain, she could have sworn he had a smile etched into his features. Damaris giggled and pressed her cheek to his shoulder in affection before going to step ahead, turning to face him once more.

xxx"Ready, big guy?" His low grunt was the only response to her question. She giggled and smiled, gesturing for him to follow before she began on her trek back home. The Iguanodon, nicknamed Okra, stayed close at her side, his slow and heavy steps echoing. A soft hum left Damaris as she let her gaze wander. Okra's breathing lulled her into a daydream as she retraced the steps she took nearly a month ago. Her mind wandered, a small smile pulling her features as she stepped carefully, Okra guiding her along the path.

xxxThe path winded along, taking them through forests and plains, and even mountains. Her steps grew reluctant as she neared what she feared the most: a lake. The gentle waves inched up the shore, curling back slowly. Shells and pebbles littered the clean, untouched sand. The sun caught the waves, showering the land in a soft shimmer of crisp morning light. Damaris moved closer to Okra for his comfort, his nose nudging her shoulder in gentle reassurance. Damaris swallowed the lump in her throat as he guided her down the path.

xxx"T-Thank you, Okra.." She murmured, patting his broad neck. He just huffed softly, head low as he trudged beside her. Damaris silently agreed with his comment, nodding lightly as she gazed out over the water, breathing shallow. They returned to their shared silence as they crossed the path that etched across the lake, their destination not too far on the horizon. However, Damaris wheezed as she came across a... minor inconvenience.

xxx"Oh dear... The path is flooded. Well, time to turn around." Damaris squeezed out a shaky laugh, backing away from the flowing waters over the ground before them. Okra gave a deeper snort, bumping his nose against her back hard to push her forward. Damaris shrieked out in surprise, digging her paws into the ground so she did not touch the water. Okra gave a frustrated huff, nudging her harder, signaling that she just needed to cross. Damaris hesitantly glanced back at him, eyes wide.

xxx"No, buddy. I-I can't..." Damaris gulped. Her fear still ate away at her, leaving her frail and nervous anytime she came close to a body of water bigger than a puddle. Okra visibly rolled his eyes at her and huffed, sharping nudging her in the back. She gasped louder, body tensing up as water brushed her feet. Glancing back, she noticed he had her blocked. There was only one way to go: and it was through the water.

xxxGaining the confidence after much internal debate, Damaris clenched her eyes as she took her first step. A gasp bubbled from her throat at the sensation of cold water rolling around her foot, eyes snapping open. Okra stepped past her, trudging through the water with not even a little flinch. She scrambled, clenching his tail for purchase on the slippery path. Pebbles dug into her paw pads but she trudged on, shaking nervously. She clenched her eyes again, hugging his tail desperately as she shuffled after him. No shark was going to eat her..... right? Before she knew it, Damaris's feet brushed dry land and her tensed shoulders loosened. She had waded up to her waist in the water, pelt damp. She exhaled slowly, glancing up at Okra as he waited for her, huffing impatiently. Though, a shaky, breathless laugh bubbled from Damaris suddenly.

xxx"Okra! I did it! I went through water!" She bounced on the tips of her toes, turning to face the flowing waves behind her, a massive grin pulling her expression. Her fin-ears were flapping from the soft breeze and even slightly from excitement. She gave another laugh, shoulders shaking. A heavy stomp from the Iguanodon brought her back from her little daze. Damaris threw him a shy smile before she trotted back to his side, heart thumping from the adrenaline. She did it! She went through water that reached higher than her toes! Giddy, she trotted ahead of Okra, a grin plastered on her face.

xxxTheir journey back to her parents' home was nearly two hours in total. Damaris lifted her gaze to her childhood home, going to approach it to find one of her parents but a distant call caught her off guard.

xxx"Hey! Aris, sweetie! Over here!" She turned around, grinning as she found her dad waving by the lake, a large grin plastered on his own face. Damaris nudged Okra gently to lay down before bounding over to join them, laughing as Farley pulled her playfully into a crushing huge.

xxx"Awh! Look at you! You're so big!" Farley teased, peppering her forehead in kisses. Damaris laughed, squirming as he kept his hold.

xxx"Oh dad, you saw me last month." Damaris cooed as he let her go. Farley grinned wider and ruffled her mane playfully before turning to return to Nereida's side. The two had been enjoying a nice day by the lake together, relaxed in peace. Nereida smiled up at them as they approached, eyes twinkling warmly as her gaze drifted to her younger daughter.

xxx"Aris, good to see you again, my little one." She cooed softly, rising to sit up as Farley took his place beside her again. Damaris smiled and nuzzled her cheek gently, suddenly gasping as she looked out at the water.

xxx"What is it?" Nereida questioned worriedly, brows knitting together as Damaris stared out over the lake. She reached up to nudge her shoulder, blinking when Damaris rushed past suddenly. With a gasp from both parents, Damaris suddenly dove into the water after building up the confidence. She held her gasp beneath the waves, eyes snapping open despite her mind screaming not to. She flinched, expecting it to burn but... she felt nothing. Damaris grinned as she dove through the water, resurfacing not too far from the surface, laughter bubbling past her lips.

xxxHer gaze drifted to her parents. They had looks of pure surprise etched on their face. Damaris shyly grinned and waved at them, unable to contain her giggles now. It was as if a switch had been flipped off after she waded through the water with Okra, her body no longer felt fear when she was near water. Damaris floated for a bit before she closed the distance between her and the shore, dragging herself out of the water with hesitant reluctance. She grinned as she nodded the reluctance: she was no longer afraid. She wanted to be in the water now. Before she could raise her gaze, her parents suddenly were on top, hugging her tightly in pride.

xxx"Aris! You went into the water." Farley grinned at his daughter suddenly, cupping her cheeks. Damaris grinned up at him, eyes watering happily as she nodded excitedly. She made sure not to get them too wet, keeping at a bit of a distance. Her fins were flared joyfully, eyes twinkling.

xxx"When did you get over your fear?" Nereida asked as she led them back to rest in the sun-warmed sand, nestling in her spot against Farley's side. Damaris gave a cheesy grin, pawing at the sand as she glanced out over the lake.

xxx"Oh... just today." She responded casually, blushing as she heard her father's chuckle. Nereida raised a brow, tilting her head as she gestured for her to continue. Damaris smiled at the ground, mushing the sand between her claws before shaking it out, watching as she settled down to warm up.

xxx"Well... So, the path on the way here was flooded at the dip and my Iguanodon over there, Okra, decided that I wasn't going to chicken out and just abandon visiting you two today. So, he basically egged me on to wade through and with his help, I did." She explained, lifting her shoulders in a shrug. Nereida glanced over her shoulder at Okra, who was settled down in the shade, resting after his journey.

xxx"It certainly was nice of him to have helped you, I suppose." Nereida mused but smiled warmly at Damaris again. Farley nodded, settling down and curling his tail around Nereida. Damaris smiled at her parents and rested in the sand, jaws stretching into a yawn before she blinked, not realizing how late in the day it had become. The sun was setting over the mountains, rays gleaming out in decorative patterns, their light shimmering off the lake's gentle waves. The sky had begun to darken, clouds in covered in playful colors of reds and oranges. She relished the sight, a gentle smile drawn on her face as she took in the beauty of nature. And here, she was able to enjoy such a magnificent sight with the very two Viscets she cherished.

xxx"How long do you plan on staying this time?" Farley suddenly spoke up, head against Nereida's as he as well enjoyed the sight before the three. Damaris blinked, scratching at her cheek as she thought a moment, tail twitching.

xxx"I suppose as long as you're willing to let me hang around." She joked, shoulders shaking at her small laugh. Nereida glanced at her, beaming warmly as she reached over to touch her paw.

xxx"Honey, you know you can stay as long as you want." She cooed. Damaris nodded, settling down, leaning against her mother's side, breathing in the comforting smells she'd known since the moment she hatched. Her gaze drifted over the lake, taking in its beauty with eyes no longer hindered by the plague of fear. She could feel herself relax, no longer feeling the old familiar tension in her shoulders. Her heart swelled with peace and joy. She had done it.
