So to smile and

Must do to find joy?

Firefern leapt through the bushes, and felt a satisfying crack under her paws when she smashed into the mouse’s spine, and she quickly snatched the mouse up into her mouth, saliva dripping from her tongue. She perked her ears and heard a rustle. She looked over to the bushes, seeing a black and white cat lying in the bushes, three tiny shapes nestled at her stomach. She scrambled to stand, and hissed, defending her young. She perked her ears as Firefern stepped forward and dropped her mouse at the paws of the she-cat. She cautiously stepped forward and picked up the mouse, eyeing the she-cat who had hunted it. She brought them to her kits, and dropped her head to the mouse. Firefern perked her ears, proud, and wrapped her tail around her paws, purring.

Honeyshade always hang around the nursery of the clan attending to the queens and kits that needed food or other resources. She wasn’t much of a fighter and therefore became overwhelmed with sadness for not doing her part for the clan. However, the leader Snipestar never thought of her as a “waste of space.” She once had a meeting with Honeyshade and talked about more of what the clan needs and not just fighting warriors. But clan members that love and help each other out. There is more to a warrior than fighting its about protecting others in your own way, with your own strength.

It was before sunrise, Honeyshade was already awake and began her task of the day, finding prey. She was always an early riser, but this suited her for what she loved to do best, giving food to kits that had been abandoned by other clans, kittypet and twoleg. Though this was not necessarily wanted within the clan but as long as Honeyshade provided prey for the clan as well the leader let her go about her day.
Honeyshade never nearly knew why she wanted to help kits in need but she had a very strong conscious that she would never let another cat starve. The leader Snipestar called this ‘Charity’ and this was Honeyshade special power that she used to help the clan and others in need.

One particular kit that Honeyshade had been visiting for a few moons is a little grey tabby tom, who was abandoned by his mother due to his health. He lived in a small area where no clan had claimed as their territory and lived in a fallen hollow tree. The fluffy she-cat catches all sorts for him and sometimes semi live prey so the little kit can practice his hunting for when he is old enough to fend himself. They have a very close relationship and a few times the kit would refer to Honeyshade as his mother, which she happily approved of.
