200 words wrote:Though Minnowkit tried to remain silent as she passed the barrier into the warrior's den, she froze as a deep, familiar mew resounded through both her paws and ears. "I sense a disturbance."
"Pretty tiny disturbance, at that." Minnowkit looked up to see Canaryleap's lithe head rise up from the darkness. She heard his telltale yawn like a silent gust of wind, and her ear twitched at the low rumbles of Alderfang's snores a few paw lengths away. The den was musky with the sleep-scent of numerous warriors, but she ignored it as the warmth of the den chased away the night's chill.
Closest to her, she peered into the small, dark blue slivers of Ottersplash's eyes. His long fur brushed against her paws and she craned her neck down to take in his uniquely hickory scent; Alderfang's and Canaryleap's scents mingled her way in a mesh of lavenderalmond. Minnowlit relaxed further as she stepped over the loose bodies, always welcoming. Ghostmire's unique mint-scent tickled her nose as she wedged herself between the warm bodies. Any sticky threads of anxiety fell away as the scents enveloped her. She fell asleep to the gentle rasp of a tongue to her forehead.
