Show Name: The Darkness Is Closing In
Barn Name: Delta
Gender: Mare
Story:
The joyful squeals of foals carried on the wind as they darted around the large pasture. A group of 4 or 5 foals chased each other gleefully each foal couldn't have been much more than 30 or so days old. Leading them was a tall colt nicknamed Cory he basked in the glory of being the tallest and strongest of the group often overlooking anyone else's opinion or convincing them to agree with him. While towards the opposite end of the spectrum was the newest addition to the group Delta who was more reserved with her opinions and cautious and the groups only filly. It was a lazy spring afternoon the kind where riders and stable hands who relax a little because the day was nice allowing for some leeway. Meanwhile, Cory had gotten bored of the groups current game and created a new one. "I'm bored," he said turning his gaze around to look at those around him "I have an idea!" screeched Kass. Kass was about the same age as Cory they were technically half brothers but Kass looked up to Cory like an idol and would do anything to impress him. "I found a hole under the fence big enough to squeeze through it leads right next to the pond in the stallions pasture." Cory looked at him with a smile perfect let's go. Within a few minutes, the group had squeezed through the narrow muddy gap under the fence while watching out for their mothers to ensure they didn't see them. Soon they stood in the forbidden stallions pasture gazing out at the pond. "We should dare someone to jump in," said Kass smile growing. "That seems like a bad idea someone could get hurt let's just go back," Delta said. "Ha seems like someone's chicken I vote Delta goes," responded Cory with a grin. "What no way" the filly snapped back "Aww little filly can't handle water," said Kass from his side imitating a highly inaccurate feminine voice. "Fine" she growled glaring at them as she approached the pond she lifted a hoof stretching it out to meet the water she had never seen so much before. "Booooo" hollered Cory from behind Delta start to turn to give that dumb colt a piece of her mind and thud! Something hit her head on pushing her straight into the deeper water. Delta had never been exposed to water deeper than a trough so she had no idea how to swim. So all she could do was struggle to keep her head above water and scream. She quickly got pulled down flailing her limp foal limbs in any attempt to breach the surface once more. But she was unable to push herself up instead she found herself under the murky grey waters of the pond her eyes felt like they were going to explode and her lungs ached for air. This, however, was to no avail as she struggled feeling her body sink deeper. Suddenly something grabbed the back of her scruff pulling her light water ridden body from the water. She Immediately sucked in the fresh air feeling light headed and sick as her rescuer set her down the gelding looked down at her "are you okay?" he asked but the words felt like a blur as she was helped to stumble back to her mother. It wasn't my fault Kass screamed in the background I didn't mean to push her to he shouted as she collapsed by her mothers side and swore off swimming till the day she died.
