explanation: as you can probably see, riley is a little bit obsessed with tassels and dangling jewelry. that’s what ultimately led them to buy the bracelet, the tail wrap, and the earring. the ghost hair clip, however, is worn as a sort of tribute to their brother, who is currently studying abroad. he gave it to them as a parting itt, and they wear it everywhere since then. the same goes for the headphones, though those have a less sentimental backstory. they just bought them because they looked nice and they needed a pair. however, in public, they often won’t play any music through them, preferring to sit in silence with their headphones on and observing others that pass by. they know they’re less likely to be approached simply so long as they’re wearing them, and they like the closed-off feeling they give them, like they’re disconnected from the rest of the world. even at the most formal events, you’ll find riley, well-dressed in a suit and tie, and wearing their ghost hair clip and headphones.
