Does their beak get in the way of day-to-day activities?
Joseph's beak doesn't get in the way at all. On the contrary, it helps him when in feral form because he doesn't have opposable thumbs. As an anthro, it still doesn't get in the way any more than a muzzle would. However, in both forms, he has had to learn how to avoid running into a wall because he sometimes forgets the length of his beak, which made for some painful crashes when he was younger.
Have they learned to fly yet?
Joseph has learned to fly pretty well because his parents encouraged him as a younger pup. However, he can't fly for very long (almost three hours is his best) and he has to avoid going too high because he is still light enough that the wind can blow him off course. He loves flying and practices for an hour or two every day after school because he wants his wing muscles strong enough that they can support him.
What bird do they think makes the best call?
Joseph loves the house canary call because they're easy to replicate but also sound cheerful and playful. He especially finds the "kiwi" call (in which the canary's whistle sounds somewhat as though it's trying to say the word "kiwi") amusing and finds it even funnier that most people can't recognize their call, leading to more than a few confused glances from his friends as they try to figure out which bird call he is trying to imitate.
