Cat Name: LittleSpark
Gender: tomcat
Age: 32 moons
Clan: ThistleClan
Rank: Deputy - Day - Ranger (Mountain warrior who's wake during the day)
Song: Be Calm - fun.
Why?: (i'll put the lyrics down below and then explain why each verse represents them) - this song describes their life and them before ThistleClan
As I walk through the streets of my new city
My back feeling much better, I suppose
I've reclaimed the use of my imagination
For better or for worse, I've yet to know

--He's finally begun to understand the world around him, he's become more than just the runt of his litter and is finally proud of something, becoming more familiar with his previous cat group--
But I always knew you'd be the one to understand me,
I guess that's why it took so long to get things right.

--him speaking to his father, he always believed he was the best cat to walk earth, though it took him awhile to learn it wasn't so--
Suddenly I'm lost
On my street
On my block
Oh why, Oh why
Oh why haven't you been there for me?
Can't you see, I'm losing my mind this time?
This time I think it's for real, I can see

--his father abandons him, along with his group, who feel he was a murderer as his father blamed him for his own actions. He's incredibly confused and doesn't understand what is happening--
All the tree tops turning red
The beggars near bodegas grin at me
I think they want something
I close my eyes, I tell myself to breathe

--he's panicky, feeling he's falling apart before he starts to remember what his mother said; who always believed in him--
And be calm.
Be calm.
I know you feel like you are breaking down.
Oh I know that it gets so hard sometimes.
Be calm.

--His mother always looked out for him, giving small words of advice to keep him calm--
I'm scared that everyone is out to get me.
"These days before you speak to me you pause."
"I always see you looking out your window."
"After all, you lost your band, you left your mom."

--Experiences with other cats on his travels, though he's nearly always disassociated from them, not sure if he can trust them--
Now every single crack, every penny that I pass,
Says I should either leave or pick it up
But with every single buck I've made
I'm saddled with bad luck that came
The moment I was baptized

--he feels every chance at happiness or luck he finds he should hold on to no matter what, though of course it comes with a price--
Or when I found out one day I'm gonna die
If only I could find my people or my place in life
A when they come a'carolin'
So loud, so bright, the theremin
Will lead us to a chorus
Where we'll all rejoice and sing a song that goes:

--he's still searching for who he can be, can't figure out what he can do until he stumbles on AdderStar--
Oh be calm.
Be calm.
I know you feel like you are breaking down.
I know that it gets so hard sometimes,
Be calm.
Take it from me, I've been there a thousand times.
You hate your pulse because it thinks you're still alive

--AdderStar helps calm down LittleSpark; then known as Thistle, and treats him like a little brother, slowly earning his trust as they meet every few days at the border of the clan; since Thistle doesn't know if he should join right away.--
And everything's wrong
It just gets so hard sometimes
Be calm.

--he keeps trying to remind himself he can get through it, but it's difficult for him to make due--
I don't remember much that night,
Just walking, thinking fondly of you
Thinking how the worst is yet to come
When from that street corner came a song
And I can't remember the man,
The panhandler or his melody.
The words exchanged had far exceeded any change I'd given thee.

--He was going to meet Adder again, feeling more panicky than usual when he stumbled on him, his presence relaxing as Thistle began to yearn to be in the clan--
Oh be calm.
Be calm.
I know you feel like you are breaking down.
Oh I know that it gets so hard sometimes,
Be calm.
Take it from me, I've been there a thousand times.
You hate your pulse because it still thinks you're alive
And everything's wrong
It just gets so hard sometimes
Be calm.
Be calm.

--Now that he was apart of ThistleClan; his name changed to LittlePaw as Adder wasn't comfortable naming him after his father. he had started to get better with controlling his panicky and erratic emotions and soon ascended up to become deputy, he finally had a place again--
--
LittleSpark was never the best at controlling his emotions, he always got very nervous and paranoid about everything even if it didn't regard his past--which seemed to follow him everywhere. throughout the song, they're constantly saying "Be Calm" which is the corus, similar to LittleSpark, who was constantly being told to relax and think by several people--his mother, AdderStar and finally himself as he learnt to relax and not freak out at every little inconvenience. of course he isn't able to do this right away--hence how the song kept going back to its erratic pace, just like him, though he'd gotten better and only sometimes loses his temper.

Song: Defying Gravity
Why?:
- Cloudjumper has always been a little eccentric which made him a bit of an outcast. While cats were still nice to him he wasn’t included like many others were. He had a fascination with the sky and flying. He loved to be high up and there have been more than a few times that he “tried to defy gravity”. He doesn’t care what other people think of him and as long as he has at least one cat to call a friend he is good.

Why?:
every time that Lochdawn hears this song he thinks of her owner who loved it. When He was kit her owner never felt right and all ways loved to put on chill music and pet him. It was the best but until she moved away, leaving Lochdawn to stay on his own into the wild finding his way to a clan in the woods or near by. Every time he hums that into his head and all ways feeling better in him self and feeling lucky about every thing that comes down onto him. But his owner and this song is all ways in his heart.

Cat Name: Bear Who Walks Among Snow (Bear)
Gender: Male
Age: 28 Moons
Clan: The Tribe of Frosted Pines
Rank: Warrior/Cave Guard
Song: Sloom- Of Men And Monsters
Why?:
Snowbear's history is an interesting one and this song does an incredible job of representing it. I'll explain each verse as well as the importance of each chorus.

You see, it all begins in a dream. In this dream, Bear stands alone in the darkness. He can see nothing and he can feel nothing, just the empty darkness which seems to gradually eat at him. He feels a sense of fear yet a feeling of wonder as water seems to flow in from somewhere soaking his paws. At first, he stays calm as his twolegs often would place him in water or leave him outside it the rain. This was not something strange to him. What he wasn't expecting was the sudden chill the water gained. It was as if the water was turning to ice below his feet even though he could still feel the gentle currents lapping at the long fur of his underbelly. The smooth surface he stood upon seemed to morph as the dream materialized further. Feeling gentle sand grain slipping out from under him, he felt his fear strengthen. Scrambling to find purchase on the shorelines, he yowled out with shock as the currents strengthened and dragged him down below the surface. Salt filled his mouth as his head fell below the surface and he struggled to him himself back towards the shimmering surface. However, he found his strength fading fast as the cold temperatures seemed to sap any hope to live as well as any energy he might have had to survive. Black begins to fill his vision as he feels his chest longing for air. Suddenly, green eyes fill the last of his vision and just before he passes out he recognizes the sensation of teeth gripping his scruff and gentle paws working to push him out of the water.

[Verse 1]
The sea said goodbye to the shore so the sun wouldn't notice
The seaweed that wrapped its arms around you

Symbolism; So the sun wouldn't notice refers to him being pulled out to sea without the knowledge of the tribe leader, Light that Shines at Day. 'Daystar', as she is otherwise known, is referred to as the sun because she is the known to be the light that guides others from the dark, just as the sun lights up the night. When it mentions the seaweed wrapping its arms around you, it is referring to how she, who's green and yellowish eyes appear as seaweed in his fading vision, pull him from the dark depths as the ocean struggles to keep it's hold on him.

He wakes up with a start, the sense of fear still lingering in his being. Feeling nervous and a bit unsettled, he licks the stiffened fur of his chest as he tries to calm his erratic heart. A sudden sound from behind him causes him to screech out in surprise and leap away, turning swiftly to face the intruder with a hiss. Dog, his littermate, laughs heartily from behind him. "Calm down, fluffy buns. I didn't mean to scare you." She grinned up at him as he grumbles at her with a pout on his face. "Dog, that wasn't very nice." He tried to scold his sibling but just as she's never been able to take him seriously, she giggles lightly at him, batting him playfully in the face. "Don't be such a scaredy cat, bro. Calm down." He swatted her ear playfully in scorn and she batted his paw away with a laugh. Smirking at his sister, Bear stepped over to the window and leaped to the frame, bright eyes looking towards the forest. "I'm not scared, Dog. A true warrior is never scared." Puffing his chest out, he ignored the way her face changed. "Oh yeah. The same way a true warrior always stays loyal to his clan and his family. Seems father must have forgotten that one." Anger filled bear as he spun to meet Dog's equally furious eyes. Fur bristling, he lept from his perch with a snarl, the forest he was gazing into temporarily abandoned at defending the honor of his role model. " Our father was a warrior through and through. And one of these days, I'm going to go to the forest just like him." She narrowed her eyes at him with frustration but gave a huff of surrender as she lowered her head. "Whatever you say, bear. Seems his looks aren't the only thing you inherited from that mongrel." His tail lashed as she stood and turned, leaving him with nothing but those words. Closing his eyes with anger, he felt his heart fill with longing. A longing for the untamed forests and wilds which would one day be his to explore.

The carpet on my cheek feels like a forest
And I run through the tall trees with your hand chasing me

Symbolism; The carpet on his cheek refers to his life as a kittypet however by comparing to a forest, he expresses how he longs to live in the wilds. Running to the tall trees he would finally be free and by the hand chasing him, he's referring to how he wants to leave his sister's anger and hatred behind and leave her running after him as he follows his dream of becoming a warrior.

Days went on and the two kits continued to grow. Under their mother's care, the two blossomed into fine young cats. They began to mature and gain a better understanding of the world. Dog continued to grasp on to her sense of pessimism, with her sharp tongue and quick wit she quickly became the more standoffish of the two. Meanwhile Bear was the gentle giant of the two. His calming persona paired with his cheerful optimism made him a joy to be around for most. One thing that continued to separate the two was easily their opinions of their father's stories. You see, their father was a warrior within a distant clan, one who was taken from his clan by twolegs. He was placed in his home where he first met his mate, their mother. Her love was the only thing that kept him in their twoleg den and he stayed only for her and his unborn kits. When two kits were born, he named them after the most ferocious creatures he had personally met in hopes that they too would carry the strength and perseverance of their namesakes. In his desire to inspire his kits to seek more than their kittypet origins, as they grew up he would tell them of his clan and all the different aspects of it. From the code, to the cats themselves, and even a few of the herbs you could use in a tight spot, he filled the minds of his children with the ability to see what's behind the door without having to face the world themselves. Bear would always look upon those stories with awe, eyes wide and mouth slightly open. He looked up to his father and every time he would play with Dog, he would tell his sister about how one day he would be a warrior too, living far away in a forest clan. Dog, however, wasn't as fond of her father's stories. She was content with her simple life and the life of a warrior filled her with fear. It was all so confusing and dangerous. She didn't want a life like that.

[Verse 2]
The books that I keep by my bed are full of your stories
That I drew up from a little dream of mine, a little nightmare of yours

Symbolism; The books that I keep by my bed refer to his memories, preferably those of his father. His fondest memories of his father were always those which told mention of the clan of cats living far away within the forests. He longed for this kind of life, wanting to live out the stories given by his father. While this may be his dream, his sister does not share this dream. She fears the life of a warrior and would much rather prefer to live safely with her twolegs than follow him into a life of risk.

At the time, none of us knew just what was happening. All he could see was that something had his mother on edge. She looked at their humans with caution and a fearful sense of understanding. The twolegs themselves were acting strange too. They never would stop to place their paws on our heads, instead passing by us as if we didn't exist. They began to move the things in their nest too. They'd put them into these large square things which smelled vaguely similar to the place my mother made her nest. At first he assumed they were simply bringing us new bedding, but then he realized there were far too many to be just for their little family. Unease filled his gut and he feared what would happen next. He was right to feel that fear. The day finally came. All the square things had been moved and the nest was left feeling empty. He woke up beside dog, feeling a chill around himself. His sister slept on soundly as he took in the seemingly abandoned place which he called home. A sudden yowl resounded from outside, the call is instantly recognized by the young cat. "Mother..." he gasped, racing towards the entrance and out the cat door leading to the outside area. Looking with desperation, he used a large trash can to boost himself up so he could jump over the fence. Landing harshly onto the concrete, he groaned as he stood. Making his way around the nest, his eyes widened as he looked at the twolegs. They had packed all the square boxes into a small monster and all the twolegs were sitting inside the monster as it suddenly roared to life. Backing up, he felt hesitation fill him. This hesitation was instantly pushed away when, just as the monster began to run onto the thunderpath, another yowl could be heard. His eyes widened as he took in the sight of his mother, locked in one of those things she told him was called a cage. She was fighting the bars but could do nothing as the monster sped away, stealing her from her kits and her life. Bear stood there in shock before a sullen sigh from behind him shook him from his stupor. Turning, he met his sister's broken eyes. "What do we do now, Dog?" he asked in a quiet voice. "Same as we did last time, big guy." She shook herself as she stood and began to move in a seemingly random direction. "We move on. Just like we did with that foxheart you call our father." A familiar anger rose within him at the insult of their father, but he quickly pushed it down. This was no time for petty sibling squabbles. From now on, the two of them had to stick together. After all, they only had each other.

To be us to take this plunge, to forgive and forget
And be the better man, to be a better man, to be a better man

Symbolism; The two had to take initiative. Without their mother, they had to move on and face the world on their own. The two have to forget the life the left behind, forgiving each other for their faults. To be a better man is a strong reference to Bear's growth as he previously would not hesitate to protect his father's honor, however now that he'd grown older and they were on their own he's had to grow up and sacrifice his own beliefs to keep his sisters company.

[Chorus]
So love me mother, and love me father, and love my sister as well

Bear longs to go back to the way things were before. He felt they had been the perfect family. Just him, his parents, and his sister. Though now he knows that this will never come to be, it's a dream that he can't help but wish for, especially now that it's him and his sister facing the world alone.

They followed the thunderpath for what seemed like moons, watching nervously as the twoleg nests seemed to get larger and larger. The path became brighter as twolegs lit up the way with bright lights shining from above. Dog and Bear stayed close to each other as they continued, caution in their steps. Sounds seemed to increase even though the moon was high in the sky by the time they finally collapsed from exhaustion. Taking shelter in a narrow way between two nests, the siblings did their best to share warmth as they experienced their first night as rogues. When morning finally came, Bear felt exhaustion in the very center of his bones. Longing to stay curled up and move as little as possible, he buried his fur into his sister's pelt, flicking his ears at a crashing sound. He was nearly asleep again when a growling sound woke him. Leaping to his paws, Bear was quick to locate the eyes of the beast, a mighty dog with sharp teeth and a drooling maw which seemed far too close for comfort. Taking a step to the side, Bear stepped between the beast and his sister, raising his fur until he seemed to nearly triple in size. The dog was unfazed, barking loudly as it lept towards the two. Lashing out at it, Bear did his best to protect himself and his sister. Scratching the dog's nose, it let out a loud yelp before turning tail and fleeing from the two. "Seem's h-he wasn't as t-tough as he thought he was." He faced his sister as she spoke, taking in her shaking form with concern before seeming to collapse on his own two paws. Relief filled them as the trouble had passed and as the sun rose behind them and the twolegs lights began to darken, they rested in the presence of the other. They had made it through their first trial alone and for them, simply being together was enough.

[Verse 3]
The cat's silhouette as big as a monster in this concrete jungle
With street lights hanging their hats

Symbolism; The cat's silhouette refers to, even though Bear is not the kind to want to harm another animal, he does so in order to protect his sibling. A simile is used to compare him to the city that the two have found themselves in.

About three moons had passed since they moved into their new home. They stayed in the place they found that first night, learning how to hunt and scavenge for food and water. They felt confident in their ability to survive outside of their soft kittypet past, but sometimes confidence can lead to recklessness as the sense of caution falls away. Dog began to become bolder, traveling further and taking more risks than what is necessary. Bear tries his best to warn her of this dangerous behavior but just as she did when they were kits, she ignores him. She feels comfortable with the concrete and she loves the independence of this new life. One day, she took that independence too far. She woke up before her brother, eating and leaving some prey there for when he woke up. She always was the better hunter after all. By the time Bear woke, she was long gone and her sent had gone stale. Fear filled him, the same sense of fear he felt when his mother was taken. Abandoning the prey, he quickly sought out her scent, tracking her as she traveled deeper into twoleg place. His fear only rose as he smelled more cats in the distance eventually meeting with her scent and leaving drops of blood on the concrete. As their smell became fresher, Bear tried to brace himself but there was no way he could brace himself for what he saw. Cats laughing, mocking the still form in the middle. Dog's fur was stained red from her wounds and he strained his eyes to see some glimpse of movement from her. She was completely still. These cats had killed her. "-Ey, boss. Looks like -e got 'nother one." The call rang through the clearing as Bear met the eyes of a scraggly tom. Seeing the others obvious lust for blood and the joyous chants of those around him, Bear felt horrified. Turning his tail, he fled the clearing and abandoned his sister's form. "Ya better run, ya mangy kitte-pet. This is ma turf. An don'chu come back, ya here." Barely registering the sounds as he fled, Bear felt his heart shatter. His sister had died to protect the home the two had built together, he just knew it. She would've been too stubborn to ignore the mocking of their enemies and ultimately it cost her life. 'And here I am fleeing with my tail hung low' Bear thought. Mortified at his cowardice, he lashed out at some bins nearby. Is this what a clan was truly like? So low and cruel as to attack a cat, no, a kit to take the scrap of land that they chose to live in. His dreams were shattered. All those years he had fought to protect the honor of a clan but it turned out Dog had been right. They really were nothing but a bunch of murderous rogues and now his ignorance had killed his only sibling. He was alone.

So make all your last demands for I will forsake you
And I'll meet your eyes for the very first time, for the very last

Symbolism; He could feel the dread before he found out what had happened to his sister, therefore by leaving the prey for him, Dog was making her last wish known. She wanted him to live on. In fear of the rogue clan, Bear unknowingly does just that but in fleeing the rogues he abandoned his sister's body. She will never get the burial she deserves. Now, Bear sees these rogues as if they were all clans. he adopts the hatred and fear of them that Dog once had. He only wishes that he could apologize to her for all the times he said otherwise.

[Chorus]
[So love me mother, and love me father, and love my sister as well
So love me mother, and love me father, and love my brother as well] x2

The two now forever divided will never get to be a family again. Bears hopes and dreams have been shattered and everything he wanted in life has left him alone and desolate. In this chorus, he's asking his parents, wherever they are, to forgive his sister for all the mistakes she's made. He knows that, despite Dog's hatred towards their father, he would've been proud of how honorably she fought for her small family. Meanwhile, Dog continues to watch over bear. While she was not a clan cat, she finds herself walking among starclan. There she finds their father and discovers that the reason he did not return was that he had died. In her death, Dog forgives him and vows to watch over Bear from starclan.

Time does not stop to mourn and Bear learns this the hard way. He finds himself unable to return to their small home and fleeing from the twoleg place altogether. He hates that place. Dog had loved it so much. She loved how it always seemed to be active with twolegs and lights always moving. He savored the silence of the forest as he left that life behind. Snow coated sections of the ground as he took in the sharp scent of pine. His head hung with sorrow and exhaustion as he stumbled through the undergrowth. Seeing a clearing in the trees ahead he pushed his way through until he stood before the sandy shores of a river. The water seemed calm and slow but Bear couldn't help but feel as if he'd seen this all before. No matter. He knew he had to get across. Stepping into the shallows, his fur rose at the chill of the water. It felt both horrible and wonderful as it numbed the pain he felt in his worn muscles. He began to walk deeper, panicking slightly as the water rose up to his underbelly. Suddenly the river seemed to deepen. Letting out a fearful yowl, the currents pulled him into their icy grip. Struggling, he only then recalled the dream he had as a young kit. When green eyes filled his vision and everything faded to black, the last thing he remembered asking himself is if this was a memory or reality.

When he woke up, it was to a gentle smile and a warm nest. Groaning slightly as he cleared his vision, he took in the she-cat. Silver and gray fur patterned her back as she groomed herself calmly. Her green and yellow eyes twinkle when she met his gaze. "Are you alright?" She asked him, tilting her head with concern. He gave her a smile of gratitude. "I'm feeling much better. Thank you." She seemed to narrow her eyes as she took a slight frown on her face. Bear was surprised by the sudden change of mood. "I didn't ask how you were feeling. I asked if you were alright." Taken aback by her skills of perception, he lowered his head and closed his eyes. "I-I don't know. but... I think I will be. In time." She nodded in acceptance of his answer and smiled again. "That's good. We all need to move on eventually, but all things take time." Bear could remember Dog saying something similar once. Smiling wider at the memory, he gave her a nod. It may be true that things will take a little bit of time, but meeting this strange she-cat who shared many traits of his sister, Bear felt he was finally taking a step in the right direction.

[Outro]
I met a man today and he smiled back at me
Now there are thoughts like these that keep me on my feet, that keep me on my feet

Why?: Flarethorn is represented by Guns and Ships because she is fierce, always ready to fight, and won't stop until she's dead or has defeated her enemy. She is very loyal to GullClan like Lafayette is to France, and she is also fiercely loyal to her few friends. She is energetic and quick also, like the song.

★ falcondream | rise | #478

Postby F0XFANG » Wed Apr 11, 2018 10:22 am

username ;; rockpelt.
clan link;; boulderclan

name ;; falcondream
gender ;; male
age ;; 13 moons
rank ;; medicine cat apprentice

song that describes him;; wind-up toy - alice cooper (alt. link on spotify)

Overall, the song relates to Falcondream's experiences in his home clan and how he was moderately ostracised by his clanmates due to his connection to StarClan. The clan he was born into was borderline rogues, as nobody believed in StarClan, and if anyone did they met a rather abrupt end. When he was only a few moons old, he started seeing starry cats in his dreams, but they'd never speak to him, just stand and watch. He tried talking to his parents about it, but both said that it was "just a dream". The dreams never got any better; only ever worse, more vivid, more hectic. He became an apprentice like any other cat would and for a moon or so, the dreams stopped. It was a blessing to Falconpaw, but one night, he woke up screaming, calling out for anyone who could rescue him. His parents, along with their leader, forced him to stay in the Aldertail's, the medicine cat's, den until he got better; so he didn't wake up the entire camp from a 'nightmare'. His nights were spent alone, with only any insects brave enough to venture inside the den as his companions. Sure, Aldertail spent time in the den, but even he hardly spoke to the apprentice. It was a lonely time.

Every few days Berrysong, Falconpaw's mentor, would come and take him out for some training. She was unbelievably patient with him, as even the smallest noise would make him jump. Because of his training, he started to feel like he was getting better; being able to control his dreams more. The cats would fade quicker as he continued training, honing his claws to attack whatever came his way. He was getting better. Each bit of training was a little step up from the dreams he was having. One night during his apprentice moons, he had no dreams at all, and promptly woke Aldertail to tell him all about it. The medicine cat was confused, but intrigued. And thus began the experiments. Each day, Aldertail made Falconpaw do something different, whether it be training with Berrysong or helping in the medicine den, to see what the impact on his dreams would be. But the tests proved pointless, as each night Falconpaw was having less and less vivid dreams; it was almost like he had never suffered from the dreams at all. Falconpaw still retained his jumpy nature, but the strange starry cats had disappeared. At least, they had until Falconpaw became Falcondream; a sick joke made by his leader, in reality.

He sat vigil like all new warriors would, but managed to fall asleep, though none of the other cats knew this. Not until he started screaming again, of course. His stream was beautiful at first; a luxurious field filled with stars. There was something so unbelievably comfortable about his surroundings, like it was a safe haven for all cats. That's when she showed up, her pelt made of stars and her eyes as bright as the sun. Falcondream felt his heart in his throat as she opened her mouth, but barely a sound came out. His breathing grew rugged and he felt his head become dizzy, though she tried speaking again. "Leave the clan, Falcondream." His eyes widened at her words, though confusion swept over him. "Find StarClan if you want these dreams to stop!" Without a sound the she-cat vanished. He woke up with a scream and was subject to sheer embarrassment for falling asleep during his vigil.

Falcondream was going crazy. This strange cat, from the dream land wanted him to give up everything he'd ever known to seek a mystery clan that probably didn't exist just so he could stop the strange dreams?

The looks his parents gave him in the morning made the decision all too easy.
--------------

Voices come from down the hall
In my room all painted white
I have my bat and rubber ball
I like to sleep with them at night
Falconpaw was alone in the medicine cat's den majority of days. His only company consisted of Aldertail and Berrysong, and even then, their moments were fleeting. He'd always hear things going on outside the den, gossip and rumours most of the time, along with cries of agony when cats came to get help. Aside from Berrysong taking him out for training, it was his only contact with the rest of the clan. He found enjoyment in sniffing around the herbs, trying to identify things that he'd heard about, but most of them made him feel sick from how pungent they were. Falconpaw found the most comfort with a single sprig of lavender that he pinched from the store and placed it under his bedding. It was a small thing, but it made the days feel a little bit better.

    But now I'm all smiles
The good little shots must be winning
    Yes, they crank my dial
My motor is stalled but my wheels are still spinning
As the days moved on, Falconpaw started trying to fake being better in order to get out and train properly. If the cats appeared in his dreams, he willed his body not to shake back in the den; not to alert Aldertail that he was having them again. It worked well for a short while, and the medicine cat stopped paying as much attention to him, until one night where he was thrown into the middle of a battle. Cats clawed and spat but none scathed him. He woke up with a yelp and Aldertail knew that he was faking anything to do with him feeling better. Rummaging through the medicine storage, the tom started trying to feed Falconpaw a mix of herbs that he didn't recognise to try and help him calm down. Nothing he consumed worked.

    Daddy won't discuss me
What a state I must be
Mommy couldn't stand living with a wind-up toy
Falconpaw hardly had any visitors, but the lack of his parents hurt him more than anything else. Neither of them spoke to him anymore, not with the strange dreams. Most days he'd look to the entrance, hoping, waiting for one of them to walk through and spend time with him, but it never came. Aldertail looked him up and down once and simply said "They call you a disgrace behind your back, Falconpaw. That's why they don't see you anymore." He felt his mouth go dry at the medicine cat's words. His parents didn't even love him anymore, and it was all his fault.

All my friends live on the floor
    Tiny legs and tiny eyes
They're free to crawl under the door
And, and someday soon so will I
Every few days, Falconpaw would see an insect or two crawl into the den. They were always so small and fragile; one paw on them just a little too hard and they could die. He'd watch them move about, not caring that there was a predator watching over them. Aldertail would constantly scold him for letting the creatures in, claiming that they would eat the medicine in storage, though Falconpaw never really believed him. Why would his new friends think about hurting the clan like that? He'd watch them leave and not come back for a few days, and ended up giving them all names. Were they always the same insects? Probably not, but Falconpaw believed that they were.

    But now I'm all smiles
These good little shots must be working
    I'm so happy now
Look, my fingers don't shake and my head isn't jerking
Forcing himself to do something never helped Falconpaw, but he'd still try it. He started smiling too much, being too happy, being too fake. He'd still wake in the middle of the night, screaming about the cats in his dreams, but during the day he was just another happy apprentice. He'd suck up to Aldertail, trying to get the medicine cat to let him out of the den permanently. But he was shot down every time. Aldertail knew that the apprentice was just trying to get out, and as much as he wanted him out of his sight, the older tom didn't believe that it was safe for the clan to have such a...strange cat running about the clan.

    Daddy won't discuss me
What a pain I must be
Mommy couldn't stand having such a wound-up boy
One night, Falconpaw was having trouble getting to sleep, so he decided to sit at the entrance of the medicine den. Knowing Aldertail was still awake meant he couldn't even consider leaving, but feeling the cool air on his face made him remarkably happy. Though he caught the sound of his father speaking. "He's a failure to me and my family. I wish I had a different son." Falconpaw quickly retreated into the den and curled up, crying to himself. The last thing he heard was Aldertail scolding the cat he called his father. It wasn't long before his mother appeared in his life again; only a nighttime. She walked into the medicine den the next morning with a nasty scratch on her shoulder from a border skirmish. Though despite his attempts, the she-cat would hardly cast a glance in Falconpaw's direction, let alone speak to him.

    Doctors want to check me
    Poke me and dissect me
    What do they expect?
    Feelings from a wound-up toy?
    I don't think so
    I'm just a wound-up toy
    I'm just a wind-up toy
The disgusting taste of mixed herbs tainted Falconpaw's mouth. Aldertail was, once again, trying different herbs to stop the dreams, or at the very least, make them less prominent. Though once again, nothing worked. Each moment that went by that Falconpaw didn't get better, the medicine cat became more and more frustrated. Until one day he snapped. He told the apprentice to get out for the day, not to train, but to just leave him alone. Nobody dared approach the 'crazy cat' as he plodded to the fresh-kill pile, only taking a small mouse for himself. He could hear the snickers from the other apprentices, about how 'Weirdpaw' was allowed outside for once. It hurt his heart, but he only cast a short glance at them before turning back to his food. He was numb; sick and tired of how everyone was treating him. He would give them no satisfaction of a reaction. That night when he returned to the medicine den, he didn't speak a word to Aldertail and simply curled up in his bed. Maybe he really was just a failure to his family?

    I'm lost in a nightmare
    Shiny white halls
    Drawing rats on the wall
    Solitary confinement
    Chained in a cell
    Got my own private hell
For Falconpaw, the medicine den was both the most comforting place and the worst place for him to be. Comforting only in the fact that Aldertail didn't hate him to the extent that he'd avoid him if he saw him, but aside from that, it was not the place he wanted to spend his apprentice moons. The smell of herbs especially made him hate the den; he'd constantly feel woozy and lightheaded if he so much as stepped into the storage. It eventually reached the point where Falconpaw wasn't sure if he was going crazy from the dream cats or the smells of the medicine den. Aside from leaving to do his apprentice training, there was always a part of him that never wanted to leave simply because of how much his clanmates hated him. It was his own private hell.

    Preacher crucifies me
    Warden wants to fry me
    I was never young
    Never just a little boy
In the middle of the night, only a moon or so before Falconpaw was supposed to receive his warrior name, he heard Rockstar speaking to Alderfoot, albeit quietly. Though through the hushed voices, the apprentice knew that Rockstar was talking about him. He caught the words 'apprentice ceremony' and 'doesn't deserve it' in the same sentence, and quietly curled in on himself, trying to ignore the leader. Though a third voice peaked his attention, and he realised that the deputy Minnowrun had joined the conversation. The two most powerful cats in the clan were siding against him; against their medicine cat. Sure, Aldertail wasn't speaking remarkably highly of the apprentice, but he wasn't shooting him down like the rest of the clan had. Part of Falconpaw's emotions sided with the leader and deputy though; he never did the things apprentices should do. He spent his childhood cooped up in the medicine den hardly training and hardly living his life. He hated the dream cats and what they'd done to him.

    Daddy won't discuss me
What a pain I must be
Mama couldn't stand having such a wound-up boy
    I'm just a wind-up toy
    I'm a wind-up toy
    I'm just a wind-up toy
    I'm just a wind-up toy
It was only a few days until he was supposed to receive his warrior name when his mother broke his heart. Aldertail was in the nursery helping a queen when Leafstep approached him. "You're not my son anymore, Falconpaw. You can take your freaky dream cats and leave me and my mate alone." His whole body turned numb as she walked out, leaving him alone with his thoughts. His life was still getting flipped around. His breathing was shallow and he fell to the ground, his brain barely working. Berrysong prodding him to get up was the only thing that jolted him from his state. She took him out to the training grounds, smiling and shouting encouragement at anything and everything he did. He was doing great until his father turned up, with his apprentice trailing behind him. The two were given the task of fighting against the other's mentor to see how far they had come, though weren't allowed to wound them. Falconpaw's father walked out of the training grounds with blood dripping down his face. Even though it felt great in the moment, the looks from his clanmates made him rethink what he'd done. A true warrior wouldn't attack a clanmate unprovoked, right? He slept in the medicine den that night, stewing over how much of a failure he was to the clan, to the code. The dream cats didn't appear that night.

    "They come here every night
I see them. Don't you see them?
    Hmm, that's odd, isn't it?
I'm so tired, I'm winding down
You'll have to go now, it's bedtime!"
What did appear that night was a new friend, a grand grey tom, who smiled and laughed with him. No stars covered his pelt, and his body wasn't misty like the other were. He was different, and he was comforting. Falconpaw questioned him about whether or not he could see the strange cats, but the tom shook his head. The two spent hours together, having fun, hunting in the plains of the apprentice's dreams. He even taught Falconpaw some new fighting moves; ones that Berrysong hadn't even mentioned to him. The mystery tom was the friend he never had. Eventually, Falconpaw started growing tired, and sat down, feeling himself start to doze off. The tom sat next to him until the apprentice had fallen asleep, ready to wake up in the real world.
"Stay safe, Falconpaw."

    "Steven!"
The starry she-cat that called Falcondream to find StarClan would not stop finding him in his dreams, even as he left the clan. Every time he'd close his eyes, he could see the stars on her pelt shimmering as he wandered to find where she meant. Her calls were the only thing that guided him, never leaving his mind, always there whether he needed her help or not.

Until he stumbled across the Star Tree at the edge of BoulderClan's territory.

Cat Name: Pelicanstar
Gender: Tom
Age: 53 Moons
Clan: HurricaneClan
Rank: Leader
Song:
What a Wonderful World- Louis Armstrong
I see trees of green
Red roses too
I see them bloom
For me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

I see skies of blue
And clouds of white
The bright blessed day
The dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow
So pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces
Of people going by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying
"I love you"

I hear babies cry
I watch them grow
They'll learn much more
Than I'll never know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world

Oh yeah

Why?:
A variety of reasons for this particular song has been chosen to fit Pelicanstar. We will discuss each of the reasons in a list of the sake of simplicity.

    1.) Background
By background, I am refering to Louis Armstrong and his image. The jazz musician grew up in New Orleans and became one of the most well-known and respected musicians of all time, best known for his gravely voice and outstanding trumpet solos. As HurricaneClan resides in New Orleans, I wanted something that could be tied to the area. Seeing as Louis Armstring is a favorite and inspiration for my own musical attributes, this felt like a fitting artist to use. Pelicanstar is very much a New Orleans cat and is gets his name from the state bird, the pelican. This combines the pride and background that Pelicanstar exemplifies.

    2.)Tone
What a Wonderful World provides a smooth flowing, easy-going tone that is very lax and upbeat, traits that describe Pelicanstar's personality as well as the city of New Orleans. The city is incredibly laid back and easy going, so much so that it goes by the name The Big Easy. This goes for Pelicanstar, too. He is a wise, older cat who likes to take his time and has an incredible amount of patience. He likes to take life one day at a time and truly tries to enjoy each one to its fullest. His positive outlook on life helps him see the beauty in nature, from the birds to the smelly swamps, to the sweet delicacies two-legs leave behind on Mardi Gras, he appreciates it all. He has learned that life is just more enjoyable when you aren't in a rush and take the time to stop and smell the roses. The little things matter to him and he does what he can to get others to see them as well. His lax personality is good for helping to sooth tension, confiding in, and cooling tempers.

    3.)Meaning
The lyrics provide an excellent example of Pelicanstar's attitude toward the world. He sees the beauty in everything and loves each of his clan-members, or "neighbors". Everything to him is a glorious creation that needs to be cherished and celebrated. StarClan has it there for a reason, afterall. Every moment of his life is important to him and every moment of his Clan's lives matter to him, as well. He wants whats best for his clan and thinks appreciating everything they do, from their victories to failures, is the best thing to do.
