AH! YOU GUYS! Im sorry! He was planned to be released in a few more days but I was just so excited I couldn't wait!!! SMOL STARRY SNAK HAS CRASH LANDED ON LOCHREN!

This is a little handsome Mole that was inspired by Van Gogh, and he has Earth and Light as his elements, with a teeny little halo as a bonus! He's so awesome owo His st6ar markings and tail blade markings do not actually physically glow, only the halo does so <3

For this contest, I want you to tell me a little bit about him and his life, and show me a GIF that portrays some aspect of him or his life :) Extras are allowed, but certainly not required. Basically, just help me understand the life of this Mole through either yours or his eyes.

Rigel-Tufan Tryout

Postby Eriecht » Thu Mar 29, 2018 6:02 am

Username;; Alaric Glöckner
Name;; Rigel-Tufan
(Rough Translation: Star Storm)
Gender;; Male
Elements;; Earth and Light
Rank;; Pride Mole

Image
Personality;;
Amiable- diffusing warmth and friendliness
Every lion has felt fear, or a heartache, or even depression at some point. To Rigel, those emotions are enemies to his friends. Even if it takes all his effort, he tries to be cheery and caring towards his pals and even strangers. Rigel is social and accepting of all sorts of other lions, radiating a pure sense of excitement and warmth wherever he roams.
Gregarious- temperamentally seeking and enjoying the company of others
Sometimes being the life of the party gets tiring. Rigel finds himself often exhausted just from his social interactions. Even at his worst, he searches far and wide for his friends when he needs another lion to pick him up from emotional strife.
Meticulous- showing great attention to detail; very careful and precise
Rigel has an artistic side and he demonstrates it even outside of fun projects. Rigel can focus, absorbing all the insight he possibly can in order to evaluate any situation. When in trouble, Rigel scouts his surroundings; the details he spots have been lifesavers. In art, specks of life dance along his projects.
Impulsive- acting or done without forethought
Although when in deep thought this trait may not apply, but Rigel has a reputation for being careless in his work. Perhaps his friends are on his mind, but his scatterbrained side has proven to be a complication. On missions, he acts swiftly, sometimes giving himself away by not thinking ahead.
Gullible- naive and easily deceived or tricked
It's inevitable, since Rigel allows anyone into his life, that he would be wronged by others. He knows malicious lions exist, and that he should be more careful, but he can't help his trusting nature. The mole will go along with almost anything, even hunting down treasure that doesn't exist because someone told him it does. Oddly enough, the lies don't bother him unless they're harmful to himself or his friends.

Attacks;;
Image
Earth
Drill Run-
Used for digging at high speeds, can make soil soft and easy to move through
Cave In-
Especially when underground, collapses walls which will both crush enemies and shield himself
Earthen Arrows-
Taking in nature's surroundings and launching them with great force
Arising Temple-
Lifting or moving huge chunks of land to create barriers or change terrain
Image
Light
Rays of Starburst-
A creative light show that reaches from miles away
Laser Pointer-
Takes in concentrated energy, shoots tiny, bright lights to distract enemies; can blind a foe if pointed in the eyes
Diffraction-
Manipulates light and separates the colors, creating a vibrant, rainbow glow
Getaway-
With a single, intense flash, blinds foes momentarily for a quick escape

Armor;;
Mole Based
Make for flexibility and tight fits, Rigel wears a stunning golden armor adorned with sapphires. He ensured his armor had no bulky protrusions, and that it can slip through tight spaces with his body. He can run and dig while wearing the armor, but it's light enough so he can wear it just to show off as well.
The protective glass on his helmet shields his eyes from dirt and mud; it's sturdy enough to withstand a rain of stones if need be. His head, ribs, and paws are vital to his job, so they are all protected under the gold. It also provides minimal spine and rear safety. The metal is dull and earthly colored for camouflage. The gemstones compliment his pelt. Rigel's armor is both practical and beautiful, fitting all of his dutiful or social needs.

His Life;;
Preparation for Times to Come
Cubhood
Fire spread across the lands, scorching ground and vegetation. A battle broke out between two feuding lions not far from the two stray moles. Their elements got out of control and forced everything nearby to flee from their homes. The nearby mole couple ran with all their willpower to escape; there was no time to dig a tunnel before being engulfed by flames. The male encouraged his mate, who tried her best to keep up, but something was slowing her down—she was big with cubs. Thinking fast and taking in all his surroundings, the soon-to-be father ducked into a small cave of rocks. He rushed his mate in first, following her and sealing the entrance with a huge slab of stone.
The cramped room was pitch black, and the temperature from the flames licking the sealed entrance rose drastically in a short time. All the while, the couple was afraid; they were scared for their lives and the fates of their litter. It wasn’t long after the heat died down that a miniscule light illuminated the den. One small cub, born with a halo, brought a surge of love and calm into the frightful moments. His mother called him Rigel, after the bright star. His father thought Tufan was more suiting, as they escaped a “storm” of fire in order to survive. Rigel-Tufan was a symbol of hope and strength for his parents.

Rigel was given the gift of light, like his mother. His father was an intimidating death elemental and Rigel learned to be thankful for taking after his mom. He much preferred the fun he could have making shadow figures on rock walls, or tracing creating glowing lines in midair to form images. While the lioness encouraged and fueled Rigel’s imagination, it was the male who forced the cub to train. “If he’s ever going to survive on his own, we need to get him using these elements for more than sparklers and laughs!” he bellowed and finalized his point. From that point on, the family trained. They hunted, burrowed, and most importantly Rigel learned how to harness the power of his elements.
Image

It was time to give the cub a challenge. He was finally able to catch his own Taxon just days ago, and also managed to escape his mother (who was the fastest lion Rigel ever saw) in a tunneling maze. His most prized feat so far, however, was landing his first attack on his father in their sparring session. Although it was accidental, the cub flung loads of stones into the air and rained them down upon the training ground! Since that day, every move he made was strategic and purposeful. He was ready for anything his parents threw at him now!

His parents hyped it up. Today was the day. He had to prove himself to show he can survive on his own some day! He mastered hunting, sparring, elemental usage, and just about every practical skill a cub could learn. Today, his parents hid a special item, something his mother carried around with her often, so the scent should be easy to trace. It was an odd piece of jewelry she found digging one day. “I know you can track it down, Rigel. You’ll be back in minutes!”
His mom’s soft voice reassured him, while his father had none of that. "Don't mess around, either! It isn't a game." he explained sternly with a serious glow in his eyes. Rigel nodded, ready for his challenge. He wondered where the item could be-- buried, probably. Or perhaps they were clever about hiding it and hung it high in a tree? He knew wherever it was, he'd sniff it out! Once he was sure he was ready, shaking the nervousness out of him, he ran for the field.
Right away, Rigel had his mother's scent. It wasn't too hard to track since they were just here. 'Too easy,' he though 'they've basically led me right to it!' he let out a disappointment sigh. The field was blanketed with 8-foot tall grass where he was, and he was sure the jewelry was close. He went headfirst into the mini forest and came across a bunch of tangled grass. "This was disturbed just recently." the cub spoke out loud "It's here!" and he pawed at the nest-like entanglement, untying the knots and pulling away loose strands. When he got to the core, he found only a loose mound of dirt with a small hole in its center. "What? They tricked me!" he nearly yelled, angry with both his parents and himself for being fooled.
"Looking for something, tiny?" A buff voice bellowed from behind Rigel. He jumped a mile high and landed on his feet facing another lion, a very brutish looking male with mangled fur. He was wearing his mom's necklace! "Hey! Gimme that, it's mine!" the little cub shouted with all the ferociousness in him but it didn't do much to intimidate the adult. The feral lion slammed a paw down on Rigel and hard on the ground. The darkness took over, and his life was in the claws of this stranger.

Forced Into a New Life
Nomad Life
Rigel woke up with his whole body trembling in darkness. His halo was the only source of light, and the only familiar scent around was dirt. He was underground, in some sort of den. His head swam with an ache, his memories slowly coming back to him in gentle waves. He had to get his mom’s jewelry and take it home to her… that was what he had to do. In a futile effort, Rigel tried to dig his way out. However, there was a layer of solid stone directly under the soil; no good for the boy to burrow.
Footsteps could be heard in the distance but they got closer with every second. His muscles tensed and the cub began to shake again, pressing himself against the wall in anticipation. The scruffy male came into view from the narrow passage- the only way in and out of this cave. His figure cast enormous shadows on the wall in presence of the halo’s glow, like beasts watching the two face each other in an arena. Rigel knew if he wanted to live, this cave would be an arena…
The intimidating lion loomed over the cub, inching closer to him. His features were eerily defined in the illuminated underground. “You’re in luck, tiny” his voice was scratchy and deep “we need a mole to get some… information for us.”
“I-information? Us?” he whimpered, confused and scared.
“Don’t ask questions!” He growled and raised his claws, but backed down when the Rigel flinched “That’s your only warning! Now, you’ll be sneaking around the Pride, underground.” The demanding lion continued, and rambled off what he wanted the mole cub to do. All the while, Rigel-Tufan thought up a plan. Just when the adult finished his final word, the young cub slammed his paws into the dirt, lifting an enormous chunk out of the ground. The force threw the captor off, but he quickly regained stamina. Shaking dirt from his pelt, the foe charged right at him with embers shooting from his mouth! Rigel saw the flames, and to avoid a possibly fatal fire attack, he flashed a ray of light in the face of the monstrous lion! The enemy roared, almost screeching, as he couldn’t see through his burning eyes. While he stumbled for a moment, Rigel leaped forward and snatched the necklace right off the brute’s neck—but he wasn’t getting away that easily. The fierce male, still half blind, pushed the cub to the ground and pinned him under his weight. Rigel saw the white fangs that wanted his throat. He had to think fast, but the glare of the beast over him paralyzed the unfortunate young mole. There was only one hope. Looking up, Rigel saw some pointy stalagmites hanging from the rocky ceiling of the cave. He used his Earthen Arrows to bring them down upon the enemy, just as he felt the first fang touch his flesh. He roared again and the cub took no chances; he shined another beam of light to blind the lion once more, and darted out of the cave. He heard sloshes of blood from behind him, then silence.

With all his strength, the mole cub ran as fast and as far as he could while backtracking the scent of his captor. He followed it back to the field, and then retraced his steps to make it home. It took nearly a full day of travel over cliffs and through the woods to reach the destination. However, when he returned, he saw the lands in ruin, the trees burned and carved with claw marks. Rigel rushed to his parents’ den on instinct and thought of nothing more than to be with them again.
The stench of blood and rot filled the cozy den and hit Rigel like a rock wall. He panicked when he saw them lying in the dirt; he knew he wasn’t going to be cuddling up with his parents on cold nights ever again. After taking in the scene illuminated by his halo, he slowly approached his father. Rigel nudged him, but the fur was cold.
“R-Rigel… T-t—“
Rigel whipped around to face his mother, who tried desperately to lift her head. Without hesitation, the cub ran to her side with tears on his cheeks. He couldn’t think of any words to say. He knew it wasn’t going to be okay, and he didn’t know how to comfort her. Wasn’t it Mom who was supposed to be comforting him? No training in the world could prepare him for this.
“I got the necklace back, look!” He squeaked out after some silence. He didn’t want any silence. With weary eyes, she acknowledged her jewelry and smiled.
“Keep it, and go to the Pride. It’s safe there.”
“Wait! What? B-but— Who did this, Mom?!”
The lioness could only wrap a heavy arm around her son before she passed. Rigel-Tufan stuffed his face into her pelt and lay at her side, his mind blank but mourning. He didn’t wonder questions anymore, or ponder the answers. He won’t ever know who was responsible, or if this attack was related to his cubnapping. He didn’t care because it was over, so he stood up still with his blank mind and left the den in search of the Pride, his mother's last request.

For many years, Rigel roamed for a land he did not know. The name just kept ringing in his ears “Pride” and word spoken over and over again in his mother’s voice was all he needed to trudge forward. He got good at stalking prey through tunnels, digging right under their feet and capturing them with ease. He had to fight off several stray lions on his journey, always fending for his life it seemed. His adventure was tiring and each night he fell asleep, he wondered if something would come along and never let him experience life again. His fears kept him searching for that safety he long to feel again.

The mole had already reached adulthood when he took his first step on Pride territory. He didn’t enter the way he had hoped, though. Earlier that morning, hunger panged at his belly. He hadn’t caught anything in three days and started feeling dizzy. He felt his energy drop with every uphill challenge. The thought of moving forward for another day killed his hopes. Had it not been for the waft of Taxon he picked up in a gust of wind, he was thinking about laying down for some sleep. A new light ignited in his spirits with the temptation of a meal.
It only took moments for the mole to spot the Taxon. It was a large fellow, and the brute made a lot of noise as it stomped around. Under his paws, Rigel was able to feel the ground’s vibrations, even if ever so slightly. What a feast to behold! With a rear wiggle to position himself, Rigel bolted towards his food in a flash!
He tore his claws into the slate-blue pelt of the Taxon, but the creature, scared for it’s life, turned to give the lion a forceful headbutt—right to the face! His claws retracted and his body stumbled backwards. The Taxon used the distraction to flee, and it was gone in a flash.
Rigel couldn’t keep himself up and he fell to the earthy ground, his head plopping on the soil. He saw stars, and felt something wet trickle down his cheeks and forehead. The boy focused the best he could to not pass out from the dizziness, but it was futile. For the second time in his entire life, Rigel was knocked out cold.

Soon, Rigel felt his body in motion. He heard unfamiliar voices, but they seemed so far away. With his eyes closed, he felt like he was drifting away on a river, with his head under the water. “He’ll be okay, trust me.” The voice made Rigel finally open his eyes and look around, still being dragged along the dirt. A black and white lioness with vivid red markings was the first thing he saw. Dragging him along was a purple lioness. She couldn’t talk with Rigel’s scruff in her mouth, but he sensed the worry in her heart. The black and white lioness continued talking. “He won’t be if you don’t pick him up a little; you’re dragging the poor thing—Oh!” She halted when she looked over her shoulder, seeing Rigel awake. “Put him down, Caeli! Gently!”
The two lionesses towered over the short, injured male. He tried to talk, but the black and white female hushed him immediately “Don’t talk yet, save your strength. You’ll be somewhere safe soon.”
The purple scout piped up “Can you walk?” She looked eager and excited, but concerned all at the same time. With her help, Rigel stood on shaky legs.
“Where are you taking me?” His golden eyes were nervous for his future.
“The Pride, so, if you can walk, we should go now so we can get you settled in. At least until you heal—“
Again the black and white lioness was cut off. “Pride?! Really? How far is it?” Rigel nearly leaped with shock. “My… My mother told me to go there, and that I would have a good life if I did.” He smiled faintly, hiding the sadness that his memories brought on.
“Kirin will make sure you learn your way around! Just follow us!” Caeli nudged the mole and they trio stepped forth into the Pride lands. When he saw all the lions, the land, the food and the piles of sand, Rigel-Tufan couldn’t help but gasp in awe. His eyes lit up like never before at the sights! Had he not still been woozy from his journey and Taxon fight, he would have loved to frolic about and meet some of the interesting faces he was looking at.
The scout duo nearly had to force Rigel to rest once they showed him the healer’s den. He tried desperately to talk them into allowing for a tour. They both insisted that he would be given whatever he wanted after his assigned healer, Reveur, cleared him. Eventually, he gave in to his own desire to sleep and allowed her to work on his wounds.
It felt like as soon as he closed his eyes, he was awake again! ‘Did I even blink?’ he wondered for a split second before his view focused and Reveur’s image could be made out. “You’re up! Good, you’re free to go then.” She smiled, not looking at the male.
“Huh? But…” he touched his head with a paw and was astonished that it wasn’t sore.
The sky blue lioness sat beside him with a gentle smile. When Rigel noticed she was blind, his shock multiplied. What an amazing place this Pride is! Reveur didn’t hesitate to explain her ways of healing to him—her Dreams element allows her to heal the sufferer who sleeps. She answered all his questions about the Pride’s history, but only to the best of her knowledge. It was more than enough for him! Finally, she brought up something about Rigel herself “Your dreams. They’re very pure. Did you know that? I can’t envision a bad bone in your body.” She chuckled lightly, not seeing the confused expression on the mole’s face. “And your quest is over. This is the Pride you’ve been seeking, but your mother’s promise was false—it is not always safe here. We’re at war.”

After long hours engaged in conversation with the kind-hearted healer, Rigel finally left her den. He learned so much about the Pride already. He was worried, even anxious, but he was still eager to look around. While he was pondering these emotions, he suddenly felt the ground vibrating! Something was right under his feet! He positioned himself for an attack, but instead the face of a mole greeted him! Popping her body out of the ground and shaking the rest of the dirt from her pelt, the lioness confronted him “Oh, sorry if I scared ya!” she winked at him, while he stood in his awkward fighting stance.
Since it was clear there wasn’t any danger, he introduced himself “I-I’m new here, but my name’s Rigel-Tufan!”
“I know you’re new! I would recognize a handsome fellow like you if I’ve seen you around! Delia’s the name.” She was very good at not blowing her cover as a Rebel, and Rigel didn’t notice her bluffs. “Anyway, I’ll see you around, I have work to do…”
“Wait!” The male called out so loudly, Delia had to acknowledge him. “You probably know this place pretty well! Can you show me around?”
It took a second for the female to consider the request. Yeah, she knew her way around, but… Anyway, she thought maybe Rigel could be a fun guy, so she nodded and led the way.
Delia gave most of the tour underground, claiming it’s her favorite way of transport. Rigel didn’t object, but wished he could see what was going on above the dirt. Every now and then, he poked his head up to check out where they were. He say dens, the lake, plants he didn’t recognize, and finally lots and lots of other lions!
A tremble came from the distance as their tour came to an end. It came from a cluster of Bloodwood trees not far from where they were. The two moles went above ground to check it out. Delia seemed unsure of what was causing the /thud thud THUD / Rigel gave her an equally confused glance, almost to ask what was going on. The male poked around the tree and saw a grand brute practicing some physical attacks with his impressive horns. Delia saw him and immediately whispered to her traveling companion “I showed you all I can, gotta go now!” she was definitely in a hurry to not be seen by anyone.
The huge lion emerged from his Bloodwoods and his venomous green eyes fell immediately on the mole. When he turned to see if Delia was backing him from the intimidating brute, he saw nothing. ‘She really just ditched me! Didn't even let me thank her...’ he thought, but all other problems fleeted when he turned his head back to face front—and the lion just inches from his snout. “H-hey there! I’m Rigel!” He chuckled nervously. “Sorry to disrupt your training, I—“
“Never saw you before.” The large brute grumbled with a hint of a growl on every word. “Doesn’t matter. If I catch you snooping around my business again, you’ll replace that tree as my new punching bag.” Without even giving Rigel a chance to explain, he casually stepped back to his training.
Rigel, although close to trembling, was bold enough to ask for the beast’s name. He never forgot it, either, as it was as scary as the lion who owned it—Mephistopheles.

Rigel-Tufan has been informed on Pride affairs, has been given his tour, and has been threatened by a lion that didn’t know his name. All that happened in just a short few days, but the years he spent searching for the Pride suddenly felt worth it. He did have to make a choice, however. He didn’t have to stay in the Pride, with threats and war barging through his future. He saw the good and the bad of it all, and he knew in his heart (with his mother’s encouragement ringing in his soul) that this was his new home.

There is beauty and danger in everything, but the great outer space has captured the interest of many for more than centuries. Like Rigel, it can amaze those who look at it for what it really is. Rigel has proven himself to be a majestic force, something not to be reckoned with. He is strong and can make it on his own, just as outer space doesn't need planets or stars to keep it going. Time just goes on, and Rigel has the same mindset. When something happens, you must move on. His powerful will to continue living is equally mighty to the existence of a galaxy.
Along with mysterious and intimidating, the outside world can be soothing. Simply gaze at clusters of stars and planets and feel your anxiety float away into the specks of light. Rigel, using both creativity and his elements, can create shows of illuminated sparks! Those who watch his artwork come to life can picture real galaxies flying overhead. When times get too tough, and Rigel feels like giving in, he lets himself be taken away by gorgeous sights to regain hope.
