Anyways, here's Longneck #200!

In less than 2 months, we've made and adopted out 200 Longnecks :0

That's actually amazing, like how??

We've had a few hiccups, like the whole Extremely Rares being more common than uncommons, but overall we're doing so great and it's been so exciting to see the Longneck community grow.

I hope you all like this little guy ^^ I was really excited about it, so maybe you all will be too

Story (min. 400 words): I quietly stepped out of my own little peaceful home
I used to enjoy the forest
Being stuck here so long though, it doesn't have the same feel it used to
So, as you could probably guess, this tale of mine starts there
I was walking in the forest, until I heard whispering in the bushes
That was the last thing I heard before I was ambushed by a gang of other longnecks

Eventually, I woke up
What I woke up to? I was stuck in a cage being dragged along by that gang
I wanted to scream
A small part of me wanted to try and talk it out with these people but-
I knew that wouldn't help
I started kicking at the cage, trying to break it
But they only laughed

"Hahaha!"
"So.. What should we do with her?"
"Hm.. Doesn't seem to me she's willing to help us, we'll just leave her out somewhere and be done with it"
"She doesn't look like she could be used for anything anyway"

And that's how I ended up here
I don't know who those people were, or what they wanted me for
I don't even know what they're doing today
I just know that I'm here now because of them

It isn't that easy to survive
I mean, I'm used to being alone, I always have been alone after all
But, they left me in what's probably the worst forest to survive in
Food is hard to find, same with water
Took me forever to find a good water source!
At least a home was easy
I found an abandoned den near the water
I don't know who once owned it, but a den is a den, and I sure needed one

Food isn't as easy to reach as the water though, I have to walk so long just to get to the part of the forest that has the most food
And, that's where more of this story comes in
I mean, I didn't escape, I'm still trapped in this barren forest.
However, I've found company!
After about a month in, I found another longneck
His name is Xigua
I saw him while I was looking for food, and he met up with me every day after that to keep me compaby
I mean, he isn't the best with talking, but, it doesn't change the fact that he's trying to help me get back..

"I'm pretty good with tracking things, and while I'm not entirely sure of the path you used to get here, I think I could find it"
"Thank you! I've been here for far too long, and all I could ask for at this point is to go home!"
"Well, if I want to do that, your gonna have to help me"
"With what?"
"You were awake when you were left here, right?"
"Yeah"
"Your gonna have to take me to the place you were set down at, it might help me find the path"
"Okay!"
And so, the journey to get me out began
I'm not sure if I'll end up getting out, but hey
It can't hurt to try!

It was always a bit odd, being the way she was among other longnecks. Her tail got her some questions she never really was comfortable answering. What was wrong with her tail, why was it long and pink and fleshy? While others had short, fluffy, soft tails, hers was just... different. So to say she was a bit... self-conscious about her own tail was an understatement.

One day, while playing among other longnecks she met someone almost like her in tail structure, their tail was long and thin as well! Yet... it was still soft and fluffy. Why was it that her own tail had to be so different? The discovery of this long tailed longneck gave her hope though. Maybe she wasn't so weird? Maybe, just maybe there was someone out there with a tail just like hers! Long and thin, pink and fleshy, it wasn't... so bad, was it?

That was all she had worried about though, until another little longneck had stared her in the eye and asked, "Why are your eyes so red? What's wrong with them?" It wasn't something meant out of malice, curiosity in that thoughtless way people often use without meaning to. Yet, it took Clementine off guard.

Never before had it occurred to her that her eyes were odd. They were red, that's true, but they were hers. Almost all the other longnecks had different colored eyes too! She knew many longnecks with pretty brown eyes, ranging from darks to lights. With a few even having blue or green eyes! Aren't people supposed to have different colored eyes from each other? She had never noticed until then that she was the only one around her with red eyes, but now that she'd thought of it, she couldn't stop from thinking about it.

Was she really that weird? Did she stand out that much from everyone else? The more Clementine thought about it, the more she wanted to cry. No one was ever going to like her, she was too weird. Too fleshy tailed. Too red eyed.

The only place a weirdo like her belonged was alone. So shuffling off to the darkest corner of the darkest room she could find, a storage room forgotten for the most part, Clementine curled up behind a wayward box and felt sorry for herself. Sniffles came, and quickly after that fat, round tears. She was the worst. No one was going to ever really like her because she was just... too ugly.

Quietly as can be, a little scurrying noise got closer and closer to the distraught Clementine, so quiet she nearly missed it with the way she was sniffling. Hearing the soft scurrying, Clementine's sniffles drew to a stop, tears being wiped away with the pass of a paw. She hoped to not draw any attention to herself, wanting to be left alone in her sadness.

The scurrying kept coming though, until a little head popped from around the corner of the box. Staring at her rather curiously was a little creature she's not sure she'd ever seen before. With a tiny head and little half rounded ears, the creature was... incredibly cute. Staring transfixed at the little creature, she could tell it was of a light color but in the dark the exact coloring was lost to her. The creature seeing Clementine's stillness, moved just a bit closer, body coming into view.

Eyes widening with surprise, Clementine could see the little creature had a tail just like her! Her moment of astonishment quickly faded to sorrow. That must mean this little creature is thought of as ugly, just like her. Such a precious, little creature doesn't deserve to be told things like that.

Thinking of this small creature being outcast brought tears to her eyes again, but as one tear dropped, the creature tentatively made it's way to her. Moving slowly, it brought its nose to her paw and sniffed, bringing a small smile to Clementine's face. Maybe her and this little creature can be different together.

Light flooded in the room as the door opened, startling both Clementine and the little creature. Another Longneck calling for Clementine at the door. The little creature took off, darting to the other side of the room to its escape, the light catching it just well enough as it looked back to show a pair of startling red eyes.

After a moment, the thought occurred to Clementine that, maybe looking the way she does isn't so bad after all...

Story (min. 400 words):

Head tilted towards the sky, Ivory allowed the suns rays to glance off of the closed eyelids before slowly turning back to her parents. This was it, the day she would be able to find the meaning behind her name. As she sat below the oak tree, waiting, he eyes slowly drifted to the scenery surrounding her.

"Oh, how lucky a I to be here of all places," she muttered, scratching the tip of her nose beneath the skull she wore, "and not only that, but to be surrounded by so much goodness."

As she slowly wandered farther and farther from the tree, lost in her own thoughts, a sudden thwap drew her out of her daze. Sitting at her feet now was a small crow, no bigger than her front paw, looking just as confused as she.

"Are you oka-" Ivory began to ask before being cut off by the crow,

"No time, not time," he muttered, ruffling his feathers impatiently, "I'm already running behind schedule, just look at how high the sun is in the sky!"

Even before looking up, the young longneck knew that she had been wandering for some time and was too late for her appointment. With a sigh of defeat, she looked at the grass below her feet.

Through all of his rustling and squawking, the crow eventually noticed that something was on Ivory's mind,

"Well? Are you going to tell me what's wrong with you?"

With a shake of her head, Ivory started off, her head hung low, back to her nest to await the disappointed looks when the other's learned she had failed her journey. Just as she reached the crest of the hill, a slight weight landed upon her shoulder and a thing voice crooned in her ear<

"Well, Ivory, do you want to know how you got your name or not?" A much larger crow was perched on her shoulder, a smile in his eyes. "You don't really think I'd let you go without you knowing, did you?"

Ivory turned her head slowly, towards the newcomer, who continued, "I am Hickory. And this kiddo here is Ebony," he said, motioning the the smaller crow, "Your parents and I were good friends."

With a grin on her face, Ivory bound off with the two crows following close behind her to tell those whom she knew all about the tale of her parents and their best friend, the crow.

(Oops... That went off in a whole different direction XD)

Rune has never really liked humankind, and it seems humankind never really liked him. Which was just as good, he'd say. He didn't want to live with them anyway. The streets were his home, after all, and that's how it always would be.

But why didn't Rune like humans, you may ask? Well, you see, Rune has always felt much closer to common "pests" as they're known. Rats and mice were his friends, his companions. Sometimes even a stray hamster or gerbil would tag along. Other longnecks were okay too, but in Rune's opinion they just couldn't compare. His family was comprised of rodents.

Now what does this have to do with humans, exactly? Quite a bit, actually. Rune has seen so many of his friends, of his family, befall to the traps and poisons laid out for these rodents. He's watched the merciless ways humans treat them. It makes his blood boil and his heart break. After all, rats and mice get hungry too. So why do humans tend to leave the perfect little crumbs everywhere if they're going to get mad when someone else eats it?

So Rune may hold a heavy grudge against humanity for that reason. Which makes his current predicament all the more fun. He had only been trying to gather food when he spotted the human's back door open. He's not as small as his companions, but he's small enough to sneak by most humans. So that's what he did. He snuck in and headed straight for their food storage. Unfortunately, just as he was about to turn around with his little arms full of goodies, the sound of the door shutting resonated throughout the house.

Dropping his catch, he scrambled to press himself flat underneath the closest piece of furniture he could. Watching and listening with the most shallow of breath as large feet moving about the room. To say he was terrified was an understatement. He didn't like these humans, but that doesn't mean he wasn't scared of them either. He's been whacked with one too many brooms to think they'd treat him with kindness.

Eventually, the human left the room. This was his chance to try to find a way to escape. Rune darted out and started desperately searching for any opening in the room, but there was none. In fact, it seemed almost too closed off, as if it were meticulously made to keep things in.

His daze couldn't last too long though, before he heard the sound of footsteps coming back his way. This time, he managed to make it under a small couch. Maybe he'd be safe enough here until tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow the human will open that door again and he can leave. He could do nothing but hope and try to keep his heart beat steady.

His mantra only helped for so long though, before he spotted it. It was a rat! A little black and white rat with rather big ears. Glancing to the human's feet, then back to the rat, Rune realize he had to do something. And fast. This rat was going to get hurt if he didn't!

So he darted out and barreled towards the rat. The rat squealed, the human screamed, and Rune ended up tripping and headbutting the wall. For a moment, nobody moved. The room felt as if time had stopped. And then it all started back up again. The human lunged for Rune, Rune lunged for the rat, and the rat just wanted to go hide away in between the couch cushions.

Snagging the rat gently in his mouth, Rune barely missed the human's grasp. Frantically running around the house, he evaded the human at all costs. He couldn't let this little rat down, though he would appreciate if it would stop screaming.

Then it happened, he dropped the rat. Or more like, the rat had broken free from his grasp. Skittering after the rat, and the rat skittering towards the doorway, Rune soon found himself in a new room. The rat ran up a small stairway like thing into a cage bigger than Rune had ever seen. It had colorful parts and toys and smelled like there were some wonderful treats hidden somewhere in there. In fact, it was so eye catching that Rune had forgotten all about the human. Until he was scooped up into it's arms, that is.

Being too tired to struggle, Rune accepted his fate. The human turned him so they could face each other and... smiled at him? The human gave him a smile and let out a small sigh, muttering words he had only ever heard spoken to pets before. Rune was in disbelief as he tried to process everything around him. Then, it clicked. This rat wasn't in danger, it was a pet. It was welcome here and... perhaps so was he?

This photo reminded me of my baby, who has sadly since passed away. It's been many years since I had him, but he manages to find his way into my thoughts frequently. I really miss him. He was a cool little dude who enjoyed the taste of couch cushions.

Anything Else?: Happy 200th Longneck! I'm so happy to see it's based on a rat! I adore rats. They're such precious, curious little things. This little longneck looks absolutely adorable. <3
It's also pretty amazing how fast this adoptable is growing, and I'm so glad I get to be a part of it! I've made some friends through this community that I really appreciate and I definitely look forward to making more. c:
