Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. All of our animals are special and deserve a chance to be happy with an owner that will care for them. The question is: are you ready to love them?

Spring is also a time of new surprises! This kiddo was born completely black (as with most black grizzled tabbies) with the barest amounts of white, but as they grew older, their pelt started to shine like a well-polished mineral under the right light. The glittery look is reminiscent of its wild genes. Describe their childhood for me! Did their old look affect their childhood in any way, or did they grow up with grace? You decide! What was their childhood like?;

Agate was born with an ego the size of a small country. The young cat was known for his charismatic attitude and silver tongue. Naturally, he used these talents to lead his siblings into trouble as any youngster would. Though in the end, he could usually talk his way out of it. This earned him plenty admiration from his siblings which only contributed to his ever growing ego. His sleek physique and velvety coat always earned him plenty of looks from the ladies. His shift in coat color never bothered him, in fact, he seems to think it only makes him more handsome a fact many would agree with.

He is charismatic, charming, and arrogant. Agate knows he is a egotistical handful but his silver tongue can lul almost anyone into a sense of calm. Agate has also proven both resourceful and intelligent he is quick to pick up on things and can steer any conversation his way. He is a natural socialite known for his divine taste in the finer things in life he loves people and conversations. However, a mix of his need for control and natural commitment issues keep most from getting close.

Relationship with Prem;

Agate is both infuriated and deeply fascinated by the bobtail. Prem is a puzzle that Agate seeks to solve. He finds himself saying things in the tom's presence he has never told anyone else. When he sees him he feels like there are butterflies in his chest. Yet he has never felt this over any other tom before. Most frustrating is that his tricks don't work leaving him out of control of his situation emotional free fall. Prem is not enchanted by him like many others this both bothers him and makes him want to find out more.

What was their childhood like?;
Rex was always pushed around as a kitten along with the other black-furred cats. The words “cursed” and “evil” would ring in his massive ears at night, his underdeveloped claws digging into the moss he slept on. The cat never knew his parents and he couldn’t help but wonder if they were blasted with the same taunts he was.
Rex’s white splotches meant nothing to the bored felines around him in the city. After all, most black cats do have some sort of white on them…
Rex eventually ran away, travelling into the outer ring of the city where no cat seemed to stand in his way but stare in awe of him.
He began to ask the felines what they were afraid of and the only response he could get was a respectful bowing of the head.
Rex didn’t know why these cats looked up to him, until a massive but lithe dark tabby came forward with white on his muzzle and neck.
“Our city has been blessed with good luck!” He called out and the cats began to yowl with glee.

Never again was Rex considered one to bully. Respected and revered, he made his way to the top until finally coming to the SCS. He knew he wasn’t built for city life and wanted a true home.

Personality;
Rex is a very tense cat. He rarely likes to show emotion but can't help but purr or smile when happy. It's easy to tell when the feline is mad, however. His whiskers stand on end.
Rex loves the water, swimming, heights, silence and running across a wide expanse or through an obstacle course. He dislikes attitude and seeing other cats having their spirits put down- unless they were stupid, and deserve it.
A natural born leader Rex is willing to take on any task... unless it involves being in a car.
