On March 20th the day and night reach perfect harmony, everything is equal at this time.
Now, the daylight hours begin to wax and the days get longer and warmer. The earth is coming back
to life, and we enter a time of re-birth. This is the time wishes and hopes give rise to their dreams,
and the energy in the air is bright and plentiful.
In modern times, the vernal equinox celebrates the rise in power of the Holly King before he defeats
the Oak King once again at the Summer Solstice.
The symbols of this holiday are the hare and the egg. The nocturnal hare, so closely tied to the moon,
represents the moon in its daily death and revival in the solar cycle- thus now embodiments of
re-birth and immortality. The egg is a symbol of the promise of new life and potential; the spirit of
new life and all that comes with it.
