First day as apprentice -
He never had a true apprenticeship. The day before he was supposed to become one, that’s when the chaos happened. It ended in him and Smokedance running for their lives, to find a new home in some unknown land. The foxes had come and taken everything that Northkit knew. Even his dear mother was gone.
. Still, Smokedance taught him the basics - how to hunt and fight. And it would have to do... he would get no other education until he arrived at Wildstar’s border.

His mother fell into a thorny bush shortly after she found out she was pregnant. She and her mate joked about one of their children being called Thorn-. When he was born, his fur stuck up everywhere and wouldn't go back down. The spiky kit became Thornkit.

As he got older, especially in his later apprentice moons, he had quite the cheek. He'd stand up to his mentor, to his leader, to his parents, speaking with snark and sarcasm. -tooth simply refers to his mouth that speaks before his brain thinks.

Thorntooth's first apprentice day went as badly as you can expect.
"Alright Thornpaw, it's your turn." Lilybloom turned her head to her apprentice. Lionpaw had already climbed the tree, with precision and grace, showing off his abilities. Thornpaw glanced up at the tree; it was too tall and too scary, but he didn't want to disappoint his mentor. He managed a tail-length in height before falling. "You've got this, Thornpaw. Just concentrate." So he did. Each claw into the tree gained him more and more height, until he was suddenly on top of a thick branch, looking down. Cheers came from below as Lilyblood gestured for him to come back down. Thornpaw carefully lowered his back leg onto the bark, but retracted it quickly. His whole body shook; an apprentice shouldn't be up this high! he thought.
"I c-can't get back down."
Lionpaw's laugh was all he could hear.

Name Meaning:
Ashtail was born to a kittypet. At a young age their home caught fire and his mother carried all of her kittens to the forest by the peatland. A PeatClan patrol happened to pass by and rushed back to help rescue the remaining kittens. He was the last one out. Covered in ash, the clan thought he was a different colour underneath but only after many hours of grooming they saw that he wasn't. His mother recovered and headed home but left her kittens behind, convinced they had been 'ruined' by the two moons spent with the clan cats. He was named Ashkit for his colour. At his warrior ceremony, he was named Ashtail for his long tail.

"Maplestride," the apprentice shouted as he ran across the clearing, "what are we doing today?"
The chocolate cat greeted him with the touch of her cold nose.
"Just getting used to the territory," she purred. The two walked across the mire, sinking into the mud. A few times the warrior had to pull Ashpaw out by his scruff. The boisterous apprentice was asking less questions as the day went on.
"Can't we go another way?" he asked.
"You've got to get used to it," she comforted, "this is the only way to the big lake."
"What's so good about this big lake then?" Ashpaw grumbled.
"It's always full of prey," she smiled, "unless you want to chance the river."
"But it's so cold and wet," the apprentice shivered, "I don't like it!"

Sealstar had found him wandering her territory when he was younger, still calling himself Tinsel. Looking back, he had been foolish. He’d heard tales of a ferocious feral cat who lived by the ocean, killing any intruders. But he had been curious.

“What are you doing here? Haven’t you heard? I’m not to be disturbed, especially by nosy kits like you.” A pale grey cat had appeared before him, moments after walking into the forest.

He hadn’t been able to bring himself to speech.

“Pitiful, really.” She said, looking at him. “But behind that, you are strong, stronger than most your age.”

He stood still, as if the large molly would attack him. He hadn’t even noticed the rain around him.

“Well? Are you coming? I don’t offer apprenticeships to any old kit who happens to walk my way. Consider this your first day as an apprentice of OceanClan.”

“It’s a kittypet name.” Sealstar spat. “You are worthy of much more than that. And you are much more grown up than when I first met you.”

Sealstar looked at him strangely for a split second. “In the clans, we name our kits after the world, after things that remind us of them.” She paused momentarily. “When I first met you, it began to rain.”

“I don’t understand.”

“Tinsel, you have shed your ties to your previous life. With the power StarClan has given me, I name you, Rainpaw, apprentice of OceanClan.”

Smokepaw's first day of apprenticeship was indeed a mess, having a sneezing fit during the ceremony indeed has it's charm. He was embarrassed as is but the fact SootStar is his mentor is a big deal, he wanting to be humble but having the leader as a mentor was huge to him. Sootstar had shown him the territory only for him to exhaust himself by bounding next to Sootstar. Though it did end on a good note as a gathering was that night, the trek there was a blast as he and the other apprentices raced each other down into the small area where the clans met together. He met many strange cats with many new smells, though he did almost get in a fight for being called "Leader's pet" as he was Sootstar's apprentice.

They were named after the smoke that was filling the camp at a rapid pace, they had to protect the kits from breathing in the smoke but sadly Smokekit (now Smokepaw) breathed in a good amount of the smoke. Many worried the young newborn would die only to their surprise that he survived and it made his lung stronger even. In his honor and her surprise his mother named him Smokekit.
