Treasured Item: Kari's most treasured item is a picture of his pet penguin, Dewey. Dewey was a Chinstrap Penguin that he met on his trek across Antarctica. He decided that he'd had enough of the world and wanted to travel alone, and on the way he met a colony of penguins. One small penguin walked up to him out of curiosity, and it seemed like he didn't have any close family members- so Kari took him along and named him Dewey, after his favorite childhood book character. Unfortunately, Kari and Dewey were huddled a small cave that they had dug in the snow, and Dewey had disappeared by morning. Kari hasn't seen him since, and treasures the memory of his short-term companion.
