Being the sweet and caring mare that she is, Calypso's owners turned her out with a newly orphaned foal to keep him company. The lonely little fellow took to Calypso straight away, and didn't want to leave her side at first. As adorable as this was, he had a naughty, nervous habit of sucking and chewing on sections of Calypso's mane. Sweet Caly was far too tolerant of some of the Colts shenanigans, and soon her mane was a choppy, uneven mess. Her owners decided that the only way to save her now ragged mane, was to roach it and let it start growing out evenly again.

What happened?: May is a very curious mare and does not know when she should stop doing what she's thinking about doing. She is a mischievous little thing and seems to always be getting in trouble. One day she was trying to get out of her stall because she just could not wait until she was switched over to the pasture with the other horses. She was causing a ruckus and when she knew that it was not quite her turn, she tried getting out of her stall on her own. She has a wrapped and clipped type stall because she is smart enough to use her lips to pull out the latch on her stall. When she leaned her head over to try to take off the rope holding her stall tight, her mane got tangled in a rake because one of the lousy staff did not clean up correctly! It was too tangled to simply pull out, so we had to cut her mane and let it grow back on it's own!

What happened?: Mira often rubbed her neck on the fence outside in the pasture. Over time, it rubbed away at her mane, pulling out hairs and fraying them. It got so bad, that it would get so tangly and stuck that Mira would sometimes get stuck on the fence and either pull out more mane or get it untangled by one of the stablehands. Eventually, they just decided to cut her mane to save it and to prevent Mira from accidentally hurting herself more.
