what cheers them up?: caihong is an artist, although she's not well-known and doesn't share her paintings with many people. she's a chinese woman who recently moved to portland, oregon, so the rain has been a very big inspiration for her. cai enjoys painting while listening to classical or instrumental music. she loves the sound of the drops falling against the windowpane over the notes of violins or pianos. sometimes she'll paint the scenery outside, and sometimes she'll paint something from within the confines of her imagination. the music inspires and moves her more to paint something out of the ordinary or different. painting is her passion, but she has a love for rain and music too.

what cheers them up?: Iris is not one for physical activity, and so she’ll take any excuse she can get to stay inside. But she loves being confined to her house for a different reason. She takes this opportunity to look through all of the family’s photo albums and old videos. There’s nothing she loves more than looking through old vacation photos or family dinners.
As Iris is a budding photographer, she feels a sense of pride when she looks through the albums. She took many of the photos of her family, and though she’s not actually in most of the pictures, she can still vividly remember the moments captured by them.
As much as she enjoys taking photos to capture the moment, Iris also loves recording videos. She finds happiness from piecing them together to create a montage. What could be better than fun memories combined with great music?
The rain offers another opportunity to Iris. Sometimes, she’ll try to get her family to do some sort of activity, like making hot chocolate or splashing in the puddles, and she’ll bring her camera. Photoshoot, anyone?
