||Lunar New Year Event 🌸 Prompts [OPEN]

Postby Gladis » Tue Feb 20, 2018 11:44 am

Tell about a time your kalon made a bet with a friend that they lost.
    Gabriel & Lijia

"When I scan my shine, it pops up as Takos! (AKA Takis© but I don't wanna get sued lmao) Gabriel smirked.

"As if! No company would want you. Plus, what are the chances your barcode shine just happens to be Takos? I don't believe it." Lijia rolled his eyes at the younger male as he scribbled furiously into his notebook.

"You're just too dumb to know that. You're a biology major, I thought you'd be smarter."

"Wanna bet? I bet you ten dollars & pizza night if that's true," Lijia smiled mischievously, he knew this would catch Gabriel red-handed. He would have no choice but to confess how he was a liar. To Lijia's surprise, Gabriel stuck his hand out for Lijia to shake in silent agreement. Oh Gabriel... You're so damn stubborn. & so the 2 broke college students set off towards Walmart.

    ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

"I thought this was simple. You just scan your shine & see what it pops up as," Lijia couldn't help but crack a smile. Gabriel kept insisting that he couldn't find a scanner anywhere around, but he knew Gabriel was just stalling. Gabriel's persistence amused Lijia. He was obviously a liar but he was too stubborn to admit that.

"Ah! I found it!" Gabriel pointed to a small machine wedged on a pole. "Now watch.... Magic!" Gabriel lifted his tail & scanned his barcode shine.

    Beep.

    Beep.

    Item could not be found.

"H-huh?" Gabriel's face turned white, "this can't be right. Wait, give me a minute."
"Just admit you're a liar Gabriel! & this Friday, you're paying for the pizza."

    Beep beep beep beep

"Gabe... Just stop, you're just making a fool outta yourself"-
    "NO LIJIA LOOK!"

    Takos. $1.50

Lijia's heart dropped. Huh? So Gabriel wasn't lying this whole time?

    ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

& so on that fateful day, Lijia lost $10 & pizza to his roommate... If only Lijia knew that Gabriel's dad was the founder of Takos.

Day 4 🌸

Postby Softea » Tue Feb 20, 2018 11:46 am

Day 4

The Bet

Leo knew that he didn’t have a chance, but he decided to bet anyway.
“Hey Cocoa.” Leo paused,
“Let’s have a baking competition.” At this comment Cocoa seemed to smile, a smirk that seemed to be above all others.
“Oh? Do you believe you can beat me?” Cocoa laughed
“I literally run a baking business!” Cocoa started to cough on her over exagerated laugh.
“Yea well-“ the singer felt embarrassed,
“I want to try anyway. I’m a pretty good cook you know.”
Cocoa kept the smirk on her face and looked back down at her hot chocolate, as Leo drank his tea,
“Well I’m not going to say no to such an easy competition.” Cocoa huffed, laughed then got serious. She tied up her hair with an orange ribbon, then put her white apron on.
“Let’s do this!” She had a sparkle of pure adoration in her eyes, which made Leo nervous.

Later, once they both had finished their baking, which Leo decided to make Golden Orange Cupcakes, with a tinge of lemon- and Cocoa deciding to make Caramel Cream Explosion, which was a small cake of sorts, with a caramel icing and a creamy center.
“Well,” Leo wiped the sweat, sugar, flour and other baking ingredients off of his face.
“I think I did pretty good.” Then Leo looked over at Cocoa’s dish and gauked at the sight.
“Yea you did pretty good buddy!” Cocoa laughed, then smirked as she walked over to him,
“Now switch places to taste.” Leo did as he was told and switched places, he took a bite and it immediately melted in his mouth. The flavor combination was perfect.
“Mmmm..” Leo knew who had won, and it most certainly wasn’t him.

pip laughed. "deal!" he told his friend. they were both working overtime at a restaurant, and as the night went on. it got painfully more boring. they were betting on the last dish served. the two most popular dishes were their famous burger or the pizza. they were both delicious, and he cared for them both, but obviously people had other tastes. a family sat down about half an hour before they began to clean up for closing time, and they promised it would be quick. they waited impatiently behind the bar, waiting curiously to see what the order will be. the kalon, which looked like it was the mom, ordered a salad. then the kids; two kids Mac n cheese's, and finally the mom of the family. he huffed as he looked over the menu one last time. finally he ordered; pizza.

"ha! you owe me a meal." his friend retorted to pip. pip huffed, annoyed he lost the bet. but his friend won fair and square, and he needed to give him the dinner.

"fine. get what you want. but remember, under 10 bucks."

—> Prompt 4 with Mariam and Aria

“I’m leaving Adhæsit,” Aria declared.

Mariam didn’t register what Aria said at first. After all, she was one to have her head in the clouds and the two had been sitting in silence anyway, so her first answer was a droned, “Cool.” Soon after, she realized what her sister - her best friend - had said; then, Mariam shrieked, “What?!

Aria was waiting for the second response. She was level-headed, much more than Mariam. “I’m leaving Adhæsit,” she repeated. “I’m going to a neighboring town. It won’t be for long. It’s important.”

Mariam’s jaw dropped, and her eyes held the pain of betrayal. “You can’t just leave,” she yelled. “I depend on you! Adhæsit depends on you!” She dropped the pan she was tending to before and rushed to Aria’s side. “I - How about we bet? If I win, you stay. If you win, do whatever you’d like. Please? Aria?”

Aria rolled her eyes jokingly; Mariam was rarely so forward with her emotions and motives. Still, she knew Mariam would never let her leave on good conscience unless she agreed. So, she did; “Fine.”

Soon, a quick game was prepared. Of course, Mariam picked a game she had an affinity for, but Aria was determined. Mariam knew this.

Mariam braced. As a baker, this was her specialty: rolling dough. She had bet that she could roll the dough the thinnest without breaking it. It was something she did hundreds of times a day, so she knew she could do it.

Later that day...

Aria packed her final bag. Mariam awaited her at the door. As expected, the annoyance in her face from losing remained even as she wished Aria good travels. As the sun fell below the horizon, Aria’s silhouette became smaller in Adhæsit’s eyes, while Mariam remained still in her little town’s doorstep.

PROMPT #4
______________

Birdie and Ivieri

Birdie's pale pink tail swished against the sidewalk. The sun was beginning to go down and she watched as the streetlights of her town turned on. Her eyes scanned the street and she was almost ready to give up when she saw the golden coat of her wandering friend approaching. "Ivi!" she called. Ivieri's speed picked up as she happily trotted toward Birdie and they hugged, giggling and nearly falling to the ground. The two only got to see each other every few months, since Ivieri was always traveling, never sitting still. They walked side by side, already flooding with conversation. Sitting atop the pier where they used to go while they were still in school, they watched the lights of the boats as they drifted across the water. The sky was very clear tonight and the stars looked just as bright reflecting on the bay's surface as they did in the sky. "I have a challenge for you," Birdie chirped. "Oh yeah?" Ivi smirked, shoving the smaller kalon with her shoulder. "Bring it on!" "I challenge you to send me a postcard from every place you visit, no matter how dull you may think it seems, and write me a poem about what you did there." Ivieri was quiet, slightly surprised by the quest, but then a smile broke across her face. "Of course I can do that!"

A few weeks later, Ivieri went on her way, headed from Brunswick, Georgia to the white sandy beaches of California. Sure enough, Birdie received a postcard with blue waters and palm trees. A poem was written on the back.

"Little bird, you'd love it here,
the water and skies are bright and clear.
I'm serving pina coladas down by the coast,
and the swaying palms I do love most."

Birdie smiled and pinned it up on her wall with the rest of her pictures and various keepsakes depicting her loved ones and favorite places. It was soon filled with a collection of different postcards. Birdie would receive one twice a month for about eight months, but there came a time where April was nearing its end and no new mail from her golden friend had arrived. She began to think nothing would ever come and was sprawled on her apartment floor reading an intense scene from her book when a knock on the door made her jump. She opened it to find Ivieri standing with a smile on her stoop. They hugged happily and decided to go for a walk down the street as the sunset cast pink and purple tones across the sky.

"You know, you lost the bet," Birdie teased. "What?!" Ivieri gasped. "I did not!" "Where's my postcard from Brunswick?" Birdie smirked, hardly able to keep laughter down from her own joke. Ivieri rolled her eyes and laughed, shaking her head and jokingly trotting ahead of her friend so that she had to run to keep up with the longer legged kalon. Ivi stayed for about three weeks, working at Birdie's shop, and after she had departed once more Birdie returned to her bedroom. Something on her pillow caught her eye. It was a Brunswick postcard. Birdie smiled as she read what was written on the back and pinned it right at the center of the rest of the cards.

"Little bird, I may seem far,
but do not fear, we never are.
Because we share the same gold heart,
and as friends we will never part."

"Tell about a time your kalon made a bet with a friend that they lost."
|| Halcyon "Tori" || Loraline "Lora" || Thalassa ||

"I'll bet you twenty dollars I can make that girl cry."

Tori scarcely looked up from the book he was reading, turned the page with an idle hum. "Too easy."

Lora scoffed. Him and his twin both were waiting for an audience with Queen Clytemnestra, and appeared to still have a great many folk in front of them. The hall was crowded with peasants and nobles alike, and Tori had determinedly sat himself on an empty bench when they'd arrived and took to reading. He had been reading ever since, much to Lora's obvious annoyance.

"You didn't even see her-"

"Too easy," Tori repeated mildly. "Pick someone harder."

Lora made an impolite noise and turned away from him. His eye was caught by Thalassa shortly thereafter, as the tall man forged a path to them. He was broad enough that it wasn't difficult, and when people lingered he simply stuck his elbows out and persuaded them to move. He had two sets of arms and both were impressively thick, and had he been in the mood for it he could have easily lifted those strangers out of his way.

Lora abruptly straightened. "I can make him cry," he said, gesturing once to Thalassa.

Tori finally looked up and barked a surprised laugh. "You cannot," he said firmly. Thalassa had been stopped by a woman halfway across the hallway and was bent to listen to her, nodding sagely. "That man cannot cry."

"Twenty dollars," Lora said delightedly.

Tori closed his book and considered it. Thalassa had set a firm hand on the woman's shoulder and was gently setting her outside, looking at the twins with a vaguely annoyed twist to his mouth.

"Done. Twenty dollars if you can make him cry."

Lora looked thrilled, and waited impatiently as Thalassa finally closed the distance between them. He ran a hand back over his hair as he stopped, upsetting the tight curls that he'd tucked into a braid that morning, and sighed.

"The queen's advisers assured me that we'd see her by two."

"Even with all these people?" Tori asked disbelievingly.

Thalassa shrugged. With the additional arms, it was something of a short, unusual gesture. "I guess. The advisers have been pretty good about-"

"We'll be here for the rest of forever," Lora said sharply. "Forever."

Thalassa lifted an eyebrow. "I mean-"

"Forever," Lora emphasized. "We'll be locked in here with these heathens for the rest of all eternity." When Thalassa only looked blankly at him, Lora leaned closer. "How does that make you feel, Thalassa?"

"Uh." He looked at Tori, who offered him an innocent shrug, and then back to Lora. "Bored, I guess?"

Tori said smugly, "You can pay me over dinner tonight, brother."

Lora sputtered and Thalassa scrutinized the two of them, his brows drawing down over his moody eyes. "Did you make some sort of a bet?" He asked.

"We would never," Lora said over his shoulder, and then turned to Tori and hissed, "You can pry that twenty from my cold, dead hand."

prompt 4. the rabbit
when you make a deal with the devil...

well, perhaps calling parhelia the devil was a bit overdramatic. but to be honest, despite the fact she claimed to be noble in her intentions, it was clear as day that she had ulterior motives. there was just something about that smile, about the way she carried herself- something about her that was unsettling. as she was constantly drenched in the aura of someone so smug that she knew more than you.

regardless, nameless was loathe to call her a... friend. a coworker, maybe. an acquaintance. but certainly not a friend. but it was all too often that she would show her face, as if to mock him. to say, "those fake eyes of yours could never compare to mine." and it wasn't like she was wrong, not that she wanted to admit it.

"i bet we'll never make it back up there, though." he heard her say once, staring up at the starry night sky. "i mean, even with my knowledge and your experience, we've still got no chance." her face, although her words were sad, was still curled up in a smile.

nameless huffed, stood up, and kept walking.

even if he wanted to have faith, it was a bet he didn't want to take.

Tell about a time your kalon made a bet with a friend that they lost.

        seraphim & florence

        “First one to five wins?”

        “You’re on, older brother.”

Seraphim smirked, sabre ready in his hand to face his eldest brother. Usually, on days like these, the two would make a fun game out of their fencing lessons. Today, however, held a new sort of risk. Florence had come to watch Sera during his lesson, and the prince had to prove to his lover that he can hold his own despite his small stature. He wanted to make Florence proud, after all. The prince took his stance, sabre expertly wielded in his fingers as he readied for the start signal.

They had made it to a solid 4 points each, tied, neck and neck to the last straw. Sera was suddenly nervous about the whole situation, usually he’s better than this ! He had just wanted to impressive his lover, too ! A side glance at said man, and Sera was smiling lovingly at Florence’s general direction when he felt a poke to the ribs.

“Point!” his eldest brother yelled, smirking in his direction.

Sera was momentarily stunned, he had lost looking at the very man he had been trying to impress. Florence was laughing under his breath, which made Sera flush. In the end, Sera still got a gentle kiss on the head and a soft ‘good job, baby’ anyway. Even though he was still upset about losing, that was good enough to smooth over his frown.
