Prompt #1

    qiz β€” day 1 β€” nonowner [ pip ]

    β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”
Tell about a time your kalon had to use a creative solution to solve a problem.
    β€Ί Pip is male
β€Ί Anthro/Human au ( however you want to read it as )
    β€Ί Ray(mond) is a character of mine,
thought that I should be creative aswell ^^"

Pip held both of his hands to his chest. Each breath he took wasn't rushed, it was calm. Despite that, his heart was beating in an erratic manner. It was threatening to burst out of his chest, to break within the confinement of his ribs and turn the scene into a gorey sight for those unfortunate enough to witness it. His eyes were closed, as though he was deep in thought; it's the complete opposite as he was thinking of nothing. He had cleared his mind, with each controlled breaths through his nostrils, he was trying to trick his own mind. No matter how much he had done this, he couldn't help but feel so nervous.

It felt like it was just yesterday that the winter breeze would make him run for two layers of blankets, but it was already spring and little saplings had already thawed the snow. The clouds were threatening to rain, but he had prepared a small umbrella if the sky decided to cry. He took one last, deep breath, embracing himself for what to come. The nervous Kalon reached for the door bell with his shaky left hand, then withdrawed. He didn't liked the sound those makes, so he opted for the better option. Turning his hand to the backside, he started knocking on the wooden door, twice. That ought to do it. From inside, a cheerful boyish voice shouted in clear british accent. "Coming, love!" He heard rushed footsteps coming from what he thought were upstairs. It got louder as the owner had came closer to the entrance. When the door opened, Pip raised his shoulders and made his best effort to smile without making it look obvious he was on the brink of a heart attack earlier.

That cute smile, those lively green eyes and his bright grin. Pip had seen them countless times but everytime he would, it still would make his heart melt. Ray's blue hair looked like he was just done styling it, but it was nicely done nonetheless. "Oh! Love, you're here early. Let me get my things, yea?" Ray giggled at the end of his words, leaving the door open as he went back inside. Pip nodded to no one, and let his shoulder fell back to their place. He sighed, he wish he could swallow these butterflies. Or was it digest? He can't think right anymore. Suddenly, he felt a wet sensation on his nose. A drop of water. "Damn it-" He cussed to the sky, frowning as he looked up. The sky replied with a straight drop to his eye, he yelped and held a hand to his now not-that-injured-but-still-hurts right eye.

Ray was back in no time, donning a blue denim jacket and his shoulder bag. "Hmm?" He showed confusion to the situation before him, a Pip crying with his right eye with the most hurt face he had ever seen. Then, the rain began to pour. "The bloody British weather for ya." He laughed, patting the back of the taller male, as if consoling him. "Ah, I forgot to buy an umbrella." He frowned, angry at himself for losing the last one. It had such a nice design too. Pip quickly recovered, pulling out his foldable umbrella and quickly opening, albeit clumsily and failing on his first try as it opened upwards, earning a heart chuckle from Ray. "Nice, but does it fit both of us?" He commented, looking up at it. The size could fit one adult at most. Pip went silent for awhile- as usual. Ray didn't mind his best friend's quirk of only speaking at most two words at a time or none at all. It's more fun to figure it out through his body language. Then, the taller of the two took one step forward, too close for comfort, then hugged Ray. The little spoon chuckled, returning the hug as if agreeing with the gesture he's suggesting. "Smooth." They both went to the mall that day, with Pip hugging Ray from the back so neither of them will get wet from the rain.

[ the creative rat ] -- [ creative kalon , neith ] -- [ 889 words ]

xxxThe king walked among the beautiful ladies standing before him, those of which he had competing to earn a place in his court. Neith stood, a determined facade placed upon her delicate, pretty features. "Tonight, my dear ladies, will be a grand ball celebrating my culture," he began, keeping a slow pace to look each young lady in the face. "I will make my decision on this night, when the full moon is high. You will be judged based on your charisma and your attire. And, not to mention, how well you entertain the foreign diplomats. Those who perform with beauty and grace will be invited into my court."
xxxMany sucked in a breath, and Neith had exhaled air she didn't even know she had been keeping captive in her lungs. She shook away the intimidation. Just put on a nice dress and be nice to the diplomats. This is going to be easy! I'll earn my place in no time! She thought. Oh, how much she wished for such an honor. Her family desperately needed the money, and such a position would ensure them money to last them many years to come! Just the thought ignited a determination inside her that she knew nobody else would have. It was time to get to work.
xxxNeith had then spent the entire day working on her dress. It was absolutely marvelous! It was a bright, festive red, with gold accents placed in all the right places. A high waist, and belled out bottom made it catch the light in very lovely ways. Gold flowers adorned the full length sleeves, which were laced with gauzy, red silk. Oh, Ma would be so proud! I suppose all those lessons endured on how to sew and seam payed off! She thought, nearly bursting from her excitement. Her small paws carefully held the minuscule sewing needle, carefully weaving it back and forth through the very delicate material of her dress for the ball. And soon enough, it was done! Now all she had to do was wait.
xxxWhen the clock struck 6, Neith couldn't help but do a dance inside her head while she hummed around her temporary home. All the ladies would be reporting to the beautifying parlor to change, do their hair, and come out stunning enough to be allowed into the ball. Descending down the grand cascading stairs, she nearly sprinted to the parlor and to her station. With a breath, she pulled back the curtain to see her dress, marvelously laid out on the mannequin.
xxxBut, something was wrong. Something was utterly and totally, wrong.

xxxHer dress was torn to shreds.

xxxNearly every seam was torn, fabric adorning the floor. Silk had been cut, sequins pulled out of their perfect spots. Feeling the tears rising to her lashes, she forced them down. I won't cry over this. If I want to win, I need to think of something. She said, immediately running to the closet. Her dark eyes fell upon a completely adorned and jeweled dragon.
xxxShe would know that dragon anywhere. It was the largest cultural symbol of their kingdom. And that was when she was enlightened.

xxxStepping into the ball, heads turned in unison to gaze upon the figure that wore the dragon costume.
The king laughed, clapping his hands in amusement. "How lovely! This is the first cultural expression I've seen tonight," he said, beaming in pride. The foreign diplomats even smiled, raising their champagne-filled diamond glasses up to her.
xxxThe king looked among the crowd, still very happy to see a dragon costume, though he had absolutely no clue who was behind that mask. "As you know, ladies and gentlemen, that it is tradition the citizen who volunteers to wear this costume has the honor to do the first cultural dance. In light of this, would you do the honors?" He said, looking to Neith with a hope in his eyes. She knew the dance inside and out. According to her mother, she needed to know every aspect of the culture's traditions and history.
xxxSo, she did. Taking a step into the middle of the room, the quartet began the traditional music for the dance of the dragon, one of the widest and most popular pieces of music. Twirling and moving to the music, she finished with
a dramatic end of the music, and the crowd burst into a roar of applause, the king looking absolutely delighted.
xxx"Marvelous! I've never seen anyone dance with such vigor and enthusiasm. Please, take off your mask. I'm sure everyone would like to know who has such talent and dedication to the culture," the king beamed. There was a round of yeah! and come on's! before Neith pulled off the heavy, feathered, and jeweled dragon mask, evoking a mantra of gasps.
xxxThe king, awestruck, motioned her onto the platform. "Never have I seen such wonderful dedication to a culture, and you truly shined tonight. Instead of wearing a ballgown like these women have," he began, pointing to the ladies in their lovely dresses standing in the crowd. "You wore something representing our kingdom and culture. Not to mention, you danced." Neith smiled shyly, feeling overwhelmed with happiness that something went her way after such horrid events prior to this ball.

xxx"How would you like to become part of my court?"

The ladder ----

Postby doubledare » Sat Feb 17, 2018 3:42 am

Prompt 1

----
Amalia is a professional wrestler
Century is her tag-team partner
Menace is sick and almost completely out of it
----
''But i neeeeed to get it!'' Amalia cried down at menace, from the top of a ladder.
''What are you trying to get?' menace said drowsily.
''My old gear! - there's a big ''throwback'' match happening tonight and unless i turn up in old gear i won't be allowed to take part, and Century is already there!!'' Amalia balanced on the edge of the ladder and cautiously looked into the attic. she knew her old stuff should be in a red box, and, in theory, should be pretty easy to find.
Menace and Amalia had accidentally broken the original ladder to the attic not long after they moved in,and had replaced it with a ladder almost a quarter shorter. This hadn't been a problem until this point,as they never took anything out of the loft, and haven't put anything in since they moved in.But now, this caused Amalia to not be able to enter the attic. She considered jumping, but knew more likely than not she was going to fall, and the last thing she needed was to be out with a injury for a few months.
Amalia was currently standing on the top rung of a ladder balanced against the wall directly across from the attic opening. She realised she wasn't going to be able to compete today and defeatedly dragged herself down the ladder. As she put her paw on the middle rung, the ladder budged forward just a inch, and it came crashing down, pulling Amalia to the ground. As Amalia caught her breath,She had the lightbulb moment to end all lightbulb moments.
She raced down to her workout room and rustled through the closet until she found it, her saviour, her ultimate moment of genius. She had brought the mini trampoline months ago and she could barely remember why. It had never been taker out of its box, as shortly after she brought it Amalia realised how utterly pointless and useless it was. She ran upstairs, Mini trampoline in hand, and put the mini trampoline right where the end of the ladder had fallen.
She propped the ladder back up and climbed right to the top and tugged her bodyweight backwards as hard as she could. The ladder fell and she let go,hitting the trampoline at full force and springing into the attic with a hearty t h u d. Amalia sat back, smug at her own creativity.

isabelle. - day 1 - prompt 1 - Tell about a time your kalon had to use a creative solution to solve a problem.
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Stella had a choice to make. The threat of war hung over her head like boulder on string. If she didn't make
the proper decision soon, that thin thread would break and that boulder would come crashing down. The King
dom of Yuèliàng would fall, and it's magic would dissipate. Her kingdom was often a target, the greedy and t
he hopeless wanted the kingom's magic of the moon.

One thought that occurred to her was that she could ask the the empire of Huyuka for help. Certainly, the De
'lladros would help her, right? Stella shook the thought from her mind. They were too small of a kingdom, and
the princess that was soon to take over that empire might look down on them. The few times Stella met the p
rincess, she was just as intimidating as she was kind and caring.

Stella paced in the throne room, racking her mind for ideas. A warm, comforting embrace from behind caused
her to stop pacing and look up at Raven, her husband. He smiled and said, "Think of what the attackers want."
His deep voice vibrating against her back. Raven was right!! That was it! They could use the Kingdom's magic!

"We could hide the kingdom... make it look as though this place was destroyed not long before their arrival," S
tella said, looking to the family emblem that was carved into the walls of the crystal palace. She sighed. It was
a longshot, but it could work. Raven nodded his head at the idea. "Perhaps it could work. But we must tell the
Empire of the North, and the Empire of the East to play along with it, that the Kingdom of the West has, in fact,
disappeared. That it was destroyed by someone else. An unknown force. No survivors." Raven said, giving Stella
    a stern look.

"While we're in hiding, perhaps the armies of the Empires of North and the East can destroy the enemy, so that
we can come back out of hiding to the safety of moonlight." Stella said, looking him clear in the eyes. She bro
ke eye contact and thought. It would take each and every one of her subjects doing their part, and keeping up
the lie day and night. It would take every mage and sorcerer's last bit of magic to keep the illusion of the des
    troyed kingdom going.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx A few days laterxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The word was out to the entire kingdom, and the empires of North and East agreed to rid of their foe while the
y hid themselves among ash and rubble. Today, the kingdom was empty. Everyone was inside, waiting for the m
agic to be put to use.

The mages and sorcerers gather in the town square, and stood in a circle. At the center of it was Stella's son, P
rince Valentine. He offered to make the sacrifice of giving himself up for the time being to protect the kingdom.
As worried as Stella was about her son, the mages and sorcerers all assured her he would return upon the break
    ing of the spell.

Stella watches as the mages and sorcerers began to perform their magic, chanting in the ancient language, the
sorcerers pointing their staffs at Valentine, beams of magic coming from each of them and striking Valentine. H
e put his head down as his consciousness began to fade, his eyes closing. The mages held hands and surrounded
the sorcerers. The mages chanted some other ancient language, and off the ground they, the sorcerers, and Val
entine rose, until they were up in front of the moon. As they rose, Valentine's crown slipped from his head and
    fell to the ground.

From where they were, a force field only visible to those of the kingdom spread and encapsulated the kingdom.
It would protect them. To outsiders, the force field gave off the illusion that the kingdom was destroyed. Those
inside saw it for what it really was. Perfectly fine. As long as none of her subjects left the force field, Stella kn
ew that the spell could not be broken.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx A month passesxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The tirade came today. The enemy of Stella's kingdom stepped into the barrier and were shocked to see what th
ey did. The kingdom looked as though it had been destroyed. That made their job easy then. With no one around,
they could easily get what they want. A hooded kalon went back to the sacred moonpool. It was empty? How? Did
this kingdom's magic dissipate with it?

"Sir their is no magic here! And look, it's still daytime!" he said to his general. The general growled with rage and
told his army to leave. Their was nothing here for them. As soon as they left the barrier, they were attacked by a
huge army that greatly outnumbered them. They were quickly defeated, and Stella's kingdom was saved.

Soon after, the spell was broken, Valentine returned, and the Kingdom could return to it's normal ways of life.

Rho and Cadence | day 1 | tuna fish

Tell about a time your Kalon had to use a creative solution to solve a problem.

"Now how are we gonna cross?" Cadence whined, eyeing the large puddle of water that blocked their path. She wasn't too keen on getting her hair or fur wet.

Rho sighed. "I'll look for a way around it, simple." The fuzzy black Kalon quickly searched around, looking desperately for any way around the large puddle. It appeared to be a mass of thorns and trees on either side, leaving the pair with a difficult decision to make.

"Well, it's either thorns or wet fur," he said, shrugging, as he knew Cadence would not have a good time. She took very special care of her hair, so either way, it would be ruined. It was more a matter of how. Until it dawned on him.

Rho bounced up to Cadence, rapidly handing her the bundle he was holding. "Hold this," he said, ignoring her confused look. He approached the puddle, getting down on all fours, and began to.... roll in it? Cadence made a loud gasp of disapproval and shock, until she realized what it was he was trying to do. She nearly forgot. Rho's fur was very dense and thick, and due to that, it had the ability to soak up a lot of water, thus making baths or swimming nearly impossible. However, he made a great sponge.

When the puddle was almost completely gone, Rho looked rather strange-- and even that was an understatement. The once fluffy Kalon now was a large, dripping mess of mud and fur. It looked almost as if he were a hermit living out in the woods alone. Giggling, Cadence plucked a stray branch from Rho's wet fluff, and resumed her walk towards their destination.

Rho began to follow, with a trail of water dripping constantly behind.

{ illyana | reaper | the rat | 358 words }

this was bad. in fact, bad was an understatement. she was currently fending off an extremely aggressive soul, cl

just listen to me. you're only causing more pain to her by staying by her side. you'll be able to watch her when yo

can make a deal!" the frenzied kalon stopped and cocked their head, a glint of humanity appearing in their tear-

day 1
[features jauhar kalon owned by sketch.able, as well as my kalon chumu-soo (as an adult)]

"how long will the supply last?"
"around three days at best, captain."
"and the fishing?"
"our nets have turned up nothing, captain, these waters are bare."

the blue-gray pools of the captain's eyes caught the fading daylight as they fluttered shut. he slowly turned away from his first-mate, resting his arms on the ship's railings.

"alright. you're dismissed."

the first-mate nodded, taking a few steps away before hesitating.

"you're not going, captain?"

jauhar's faraway gaze traced the outline of the horizon. the division between the violet skies and the rolling waves was broken by the golden curve of the sun as it sank below the ocean's depths.

"not yet. i'm afraid we might not have many sunsets left, so i'll enjoy this one while it lasts."

quietly nodding, the first-mate walked off, disappearing below deck. jauhar was left alone, minus the hunched figure seated on the opposite side of the railing.

he got up sluggishly, and with a bottle of rum in hand he trudged up to stand beside the stone-still captain.

the stranger took a swig, then slung his arms over the railing with a satisfied hum.

"ah 'betcha thuh supply'd would've lasted anotha week at least, if yah hadn't botha'd to pick me up," he drawled. he giggled in an almost childlike manner, something that sounded rather out of place with his deep voice and having coming out of such a towering individual.

"didn't i tell you to lay off the alcohol, chum?" jauhar eyed the bottle, whose contents had been emptied to already half its capacity.

"it's some good, strong stuff, it's true. our chiefs would'a freaked if we had mumtfre* this strong back home, lemme tell yah'."

chumu-soo took note of the way the captain was looking at the bottle.

"c'mon, *bavo, we're gachat kan yukhapho-o*, might as well make the most of it, kob*?"

jauhar shrugged, and chumu-soo handed him the bottle. not thinking to be conservative in the slightest, the captain generously chugged down what was left of the rum in one swift go. he wiped off the liquid dribbling down his chin with the rather dignified grace that seemed to be present in his every movement.

chumu-soo snatched the bottle back with a slight frown, bringing it up to the light so that he could peer inside and survey what little remained. "aye, when i said make the most of it, i didn't mean all of it. was gonna try to live off of it, just so i wouldn't hafta be a bother in this lil' food crisis of yours."

"my apologies - i suppose i went a little overboard with myself there. as always." jauhar grinned.

"ah, nak*." chumu-soo tossed the bottle into the ocean. it landed with a loud splosh.

a heartbeat after the bottle broke the surface of the water, a bolt of red burst forth to streak straight for jauhar. flared fins and a cavernous maw lined with rows and rows of needle-like teeth were the only things that the captain could make out in the next few seconds that came to pass.

a sharp hiss split the air as the head of the sea serpent suddenly jerked away - chumu-soo had given it a firm punch in one of its large, ruby-red eyes.

jauhar fumbled for his pistol as the serpent whipped its head back to snap at chumu-soo. spewing out a stream of gaowat curse words, chumu-soo boldly grabbed at one of the beast's fangs and with a wet schlick, ripped it clean off. a spray of blood splattered both him and jauhar.

the serpent let out a furious wail of pain. jauhar finally got a firm grip on his golden pistol and shakily fired at the reeling serpent, only to graze one of the fins fanned out from the side of its head.

before anything else could be done, its sleek, finely-scaled neck arched downward as it dived back into the sea. for a moment they caught a glimpse of a spiney ridge sticking out of the water, and that was the last they saw of it.

chumu-soo cursed loudly, slamming his foot down on the deck with a strong thump. "if i'd only had my spear with me! blasted pests, those serpents!"

jauhar took a shaky breath as he tried to compose himself. "i swear i saw my life flash before my eyes for a minute there...great job fending it off lad!"

chumu-soo spat over the side and puffed out his chest proudly. "i've wrestled aegga* far bigger than that with my bare hands. trust me, that was a small one."

they stood there in silence for a few minutes, both eyeing the water apprehensively for the slightest hint of red.

"you don't suppose it's been eating all the fish, do you?" jauhar asked.

"big gluttons, they are. can go a year without feeding but still eat and eat and eat anyway." chumu-soo grumbled. his irritated expression suddenly shifted to a much lighter, oddly intrigued one. his eyes lit up.

"aye, captain...you best go warn the crew now, and get some rest. i'll stay here and keep watch for it."

"you're staying here...the entire night?" jauhar asked uncertainly.

chumu-soo cracked his knuckles. "yeah. had my fair share of aegga watch duty, so i'll be a'right."

jauhar nodded slowly. "i'll send someone to check on you."

the golden kalon shook his head dismissively. "won't be needin' anyone. job's s'been bred into my blood."

with that, chumu-soo trod over to grab a spear from behind a pile of supplies. walking back to the spot by the railing, he tossed the serpent fang to jauhar. catching it, jauhar wiped some of the blood on his sleeve and examined it with avid fascination.

it was the length of a little under half his fore-arm. long, sharp, and with serrated edges.

"beautiful..." jauhar whispered softly.

"a 'lil gift from me to you." chumu-soo grinned smugly. "it'd make a fine spear point, or a dagger perhaps, if that suits ya fancy. or a necklace, for a pretty boy like youselfs."

"all lovely suggestions. i shall ponder on what to do with it. thank you." jauhar nodded to him gratefully. doing his best to mimic the gaowat accent, he said, "gamoan gen bavo nakavanok*."

"ava, bavo*." chumu-soo replied, before turning away to gaze at the sea.

jauhar stood for a moment to catch one last glimpse of the sun, whose top was now barely visible over the horizon, then retreated below deck.

"man overboard! man overboard!"

jauhar was jolted awake by the muffled yells of one of the crew, coming from above him. without hesitation, he slipped out of bed and dashed for the upper deck, firmly gripping his pistol.

by the time jauhar reached them, the golden kalon had already been hauled back on board, dripping wet and with a gaping bite wound on his shoulder. slung around his neck was the limp body of the sea serpent, spear thrust through its throat and red scales dancing with a mesmerizing shimmer in the glaring sunlight.

jauhar stood awestruck, his jaw hanging.

chumu-soo grinned. "i hope you like cooked aegga, cap'tn."

      prompt 1 - Gaius
      _______________________________________________

"October 19th, 2018. Saturday. Today is my mother's birthday."
I leaned into the plush fabric of my couch behind me, feeling the cool touch of it through my shirt. Today's a day like any other, where I record my thoughts in a diary on my phone. Both of my discolored eyes closed as I started listing things off about my day.
"She called me today. I wasn't expecting it at first- her call came straight through my music and blasted my ears out, I didn't realize my call tone was that loud. I answered it, I didn't know why she was calling.
It's her birthday. I had no idea." I took a deep breath in through my lightly freckled nose, recalling the events as if it mind was made up of turning gears.
"I started to panic. I didn't have a gift for her, and I'm miles away from her retirement home.. there's no way I'd be able to get to her house today. i should have already shipped a present to her house. I wished her a happy birthday, but I'm sure she heard how nervous I am.. she's really good at picking up on that." At this point, I heard my roommate walking up the stairs towards our room. I paused my speaking while he opened the door and slipped by.. He's unusually quiet today. Even better to keep talking.
"I apologized and told her I was under a lot of pressure studying for our finals, and that I'd get back to her. I still don't know what I'll do about this.. she'll be so heartbroken if I don't at least visit."
"What, your mother?" My ears perked when I heard Randy speak, and my eyes opened. I looked to the jagged, blurred lines making up the room around me through my blind eyes.
      "Yes, it's her birthday."
".. Tell her happy birthday for me, Gaius." Randy made some noises behind me that I couldn't quite register, it sounded like the clinking of spoons. I paused my audio and turned my body to face him.
"What are you doing?" I barely made out the movement of his brown hair looking right through me.
      "I'm making food.."
"For Thor?" If only I had known that Thor had died a week ago.
      "... yes."
I know why Randy lied to me back then. He wanted me to keep living in my fantasy world-- He didn't want my eyes to open.
I've since realized everything wrong with my situation here. Picture this; a dead phone. Some earbuds with the left side completely torn off. A tattered, torn couch with spatters of blood on the cushions, all dry and filthy. Floorboards missing, holes in the walls,
boarded up windows just barely holding back a grey, dusty light. A tired man behind me. Bodies all over the floor outside. My mother is dead.

The apocalypse is real, and if I don't stop disassociating, I'll never live in a reality again.

(a little explanation if you don't understand- these characters are set in an apocalyptic/post apocalyptic world, which is a problem.
gaius' solution to dealing with the stress from said problem is acting like life's just like normal- like he's still making diary entries and "talking" to his mother. he's blind, so he makes diary entries through recording himself with his phone.)

Day One; Prompt One.

Postby olivionary » Sat Feb 17, 2018 5:31 am

Olivionary; Day One; Prompt One; Edon & Shania; Tell about a time your kalon had to use a creative solution to solve a problem

The dragging screech of the broken wheel echoed through the emptied apartment as Edon dragged his cleaning supplies and boxes into the living space. The room was left empty, besides the dust that rested against the walls where sofas and cabinets had once sat. Setting the boxes down onto the floor, Edon shut the door behind himself before padding around the house. He peered around the doors and looked inside of cabinets and drawers, just in case something interesting had been left. He wandered up to the kitchen cabinets and pulled open the doors. "Oh my goodness."

Reaching in Edon pulled out a mug, before he reached in again to pull out another and another and another until the counter was filled with rows upon rows of mugs. "Who needs this many mugs?" He paused before asking himself yet another question, "Who just leaves this many mugs?" He wandered back into the living room before looking at the boxes, there was no way he'd fit all the mugs into those. Running his hand down his face Edon considered what to do with the mugs. He pulled out his phone and began texting Shania.

---

Hey! Are you free right now?
Yes, y?
Great! Can you run to the garden centre to grab some plants and soil?
yeh, y
I have a lot of mugs. Your cafΓ© will sell them right? Like for charity or something?
I'll text my boss.
...
He said sure. I'll see you in 20.

---

"Thank you, by the way." Edon said as he returned up the stairs with palettes of plants in his arms, Shania walked behind him with the bag of soil clutched against her chest. They set everything on the floor. "So, we do a box and then you drop them off at the CafΓ©? I'll work on the second box and you return the first box, and so on, until we are out of those stupid mugs?"
"Okay, sounds like a plan. Would you mind if I kept one? For Camila." She asked, almost shyly as she looked over at the counter's occupants, "Who even has a need for this many mugs?"
"I have no idea." After that the pair set the filling the mugs with soil and planting a small plant into the centre before popping the mug into the bottom of the box. Once no more could fit, Shania took the box down to the cafΓ© where a small table had been set up outside to sell the odd planted 'pots' for a local charity.
Edon finished filling the next box when Shania returned, "You know, I might keep one of these. They're pretty cool." She nodded in agreement as she watched him clean up the soil that had fallen onto the hard wooden floor. The cycle continued.

Finally they had two mugs left, one filled with dirt and the other empty for Shania to drop off at her friend's house. "Well, that was a good day. Do you know how much they raised?"
"I don't, but I'll let you know later." Shania smiled gently as she picked up her mug, it was a weirdly shaped face with a long red nose and smushed cheeks. She wasn't sure what compelled anyone to make or buy it, but Camila may find the peculiar object humorous. "I'll see you." She waved as she left, leaving Edon alone to clean the rest of the apartment.

He padded up to the sink, opening the cupboard beneath it as to look for any left over cleaning supplies. "Are those...?" He reached his hand into the far corner of the cupboard before pulling his hand back out and looking down, "They are." He threw his head back with a groan. More mugs.
