cricket is as stubborn as they get. she always shuns new fads and trends, then ends up actually liking them and never telling anyone because she’s too stubborn to admit she was wrong in the first place. she feels that doing so would prevent her from being able to keep her dignity intact, never wanting to admit defeat.

due to her obsession with hating these new trends and such, she is an expert at finding pretty out-there things to be interested in. although she never keeps any hobbies for long, she makes sure to try everything that comes her way whether it be pottery or archery or anything in between.

dedicated
no matter what cricket wants, she will always work as hard as possible to make sure she gets it. this often includes doing anything and everything she can to reach her goal, whether it be good grades or getting her parents to buy her something. although, she’s not spoiled. she will work hard around the house to earn what she wants, and study hard to ensure she does as well as possible.

overachiever
no matter how good cricket does on anything, she always wants more. nobody’s perfect and there’s always somerhing more that can be done to improve and get better. however, contrary to what most others who meet her believe, she sees this as a negative trait in herself. she knows how well she does on schoolwork but her overachieving side never allows her to be proud, or for her first thought to be relieved at doing well. it’s always about how she could’ve done better, or could’ve gotten a higher grade. but she tries to be happy with her achievements and how far she’s come, and that’s got to count for something.

indecisive
cricket isn’t helplessly indecisive, there’s just always a lot of logical decisions, and it’s hard to think what one will lead to the best case scenario. she’s very future-oriented and always thinks every decision through based on the impact it will have on her or others. most of the time, her feelings will take last priority for her decision making but sometimes her heart takes control, and there are often consequences.

over-thinker
mostly, cricket overthinks because of how much thought she puts in to her decisions, always wanting to make the right choice. but sometimes, her emotions overcome her and she begins to worry about things she shouldn’t; something she desperately tries to avoid but doesn’t always succeed in doing so.

crafty
recently, cricket has developed a new passion for all things diy, like scrapbooking or bullet journalling. her scrapbooking is going slow, but she tries to take a few polaroid pictures, and stick them in with some nice colour schemes. as for her bullet journal, it’s thriving. being someone who meticulously plans everything out, her bullet journal is a necessity to her. you best bet that whatever she plans, it’ll be written about in there, right down to the last detail.

what kind of gift did they give to their valentine?:
cricket had a crush. and no, it wasn’t your typical teenage crush that doesn’t last or whatever, this was real. they’d been friends for a long time and then one day it just clicked, and she realised that she really really liked him. and of course, being her, she had no idea what to do about it. she knew the best thing to do was to be hones and to tell him how she feels but that’s really not her style. what better way to confess your feelings than to create some elaborate valentine’s day plan, make sure it goes off without a hitch and think of some meaningful gift in less than a week?

firstly, she had to collect everything she needed, without being suspicious. there was no way she was telling her parents about this, she didn’t want them to know if her plans went sideways and he rejected her.

she got to work. there was a camping set in her family’s garage that was used once and left to rot, that would do. and he probably had a telescope handy since his dad was an astrophysicist, so all she had to do was a little online shopping and all would be good. she hoped.

she texted him and waited for him to reply, until eventually he agreed to meet up with her, under the pretence of going sightseeing then sleeping over. she was worried that he would hate her when she told him her plans. hopefully that wouldn't happen, but that was wishful thinking.

when valentine’s day rolled around, she packed, and walked to his house. they’d have to get the bus and walk a little to get there, but it was fine. there's another question on her mind, however: why hadn’t he asked anything about today? or questioned her about meeting up on valentine’s day, of all days? had he forgotten or did he just agree so he could let her down lightly? to say she was nervous was an understatement.

the bus ride was peaceful. it was early, and not many people were around, allowing them to have back half of the bus to themselves.

he still hadn’t mentioned the fact that it was valentine’s day. probably because he was too distracted by the huge bag she brought. it did have a lot in it; camping supplies, food, a telescope she asked him to bring and a satchel containing her gift for him. they might have to stop at a store somewhere to buy food and such but cricket was sure they had enough. otherwise, they were all set.

they got off and started their hike through the woods, which was sprinkled with questions from him about what's going on. she'd been vague, but he agreed to come so he must've been open to whatever she decided to do.

they came to a clearing on a small cliff overlooking some of the forest. “here.” she told him, and they sat down, out of breath.
“are you going to tell me what this is all about now?” he asked her.
“we’re camping!”
he stared in silence for what felt like an eternity, but then he chuckled and let out a cheerful “okay".

but, her main gift was yet to come. they built the tent and made food until dark. cricket looked up to the sky and thanked whatever deity out there that it wasn't cloudy.

she pulled the satchel out of her bag and took out a little silver round case and an engraved, bronze scroll casing. after taking a deep breath and convincing herself she was ready, she handed him the two items with a quick “happy valentine’s day!”
“what?” he blinked at her, confused.
“you heard me, right?”
“yeah, i just wasn’t expecting this, these are for me?” bewildered, he held up the gifts, waving them around and gesturing madly.
“yeah! come on, open them!”
the first thing he looked at was the round silver case. on opening, he realised it was a compass, with coordinates engraved inside the upper lid.
“what are these for?” he asked her.
“you’ll see once you've opened them both. hurry up!”
he slid off the casing from the paper inside, and unrolled it. it read:

Piper is a gentle soul who doesn't talk very much. She loves to send letters to everyone. Piper prefers letters because when you write a letter you have to think about what you write, you have to take your time. Every word has meaning in a letter. This doesn't mean she is shy! It is only that in the moment she doesn't always know how to express herself so she chooses to do so later. Piper loves to listen to others talk about their lives. She is very wise for such a young Kalon. While she may not talk much she hopes to make a big change in the world one letter at a time.

personality: Easily upset, Myrtle is often described as over emotional, particularly
if she does not receive the response she was expecting from her attempts to socialise
or be generous. She can be described as being selfless and caring, however due to her
struggle to emphasise with how others may be feeling in particular scenarios, it does
impact how her acts of kindness are interpreted since they are easily tainted by her
hotheadedness. Her longing to be deemed as approachable can be destroyed by her
need to be appreciated by those that surround her throughout her daily life.

Her high emotions have led to a range of disputes with those that she loves the most,
often making it difficult for her to want to be around her friends. Her friends are few
and far between for she has difficulty distinguishing between romantic and platonic
actions and emotions, which causes her to struggle with attaching herself to others,
as well as understanding herself. Validation is important to Myrtle and she often sets
a bar that she feels should be met, however it is infrequent that she actually does.

Myrtle's sense of humour is often dark and self deprecating which could cause her to
become dislikable. Her attitude shifts constantly from being full of life and eager to
experience the world to quickly becoming disappointed and anxious. Her anxiety
often stems from her own lack of conformation, her interests aren't typical and
generates a divide between herself and almost everyone around her. She is obsessed
with the arts, whether it be a sculpture or an oil painting she could stare at it for
hours and frequently find new details within it that were not even intended. There is
also a deep set love for the macabre, both in art and real life, possibly partially down
to her shine which boosts her interest, such as in skulls, taxidermy and watching how
items are effects by the passing of time, such as: a rusting sheet of metal; the rising
of dough; a wilting flower or mould growing on the surface of a mug of coffee.

Collecting is something that Myrtle does often and with a variety of different objects,
from postage stamps to peculiar thrifted mugs that she plants her succulents and cacti
in to old keys and old books. These collections give her excuse to go outside and
invite her friends out to partake in their own interests, be it a trip into town to have
coffee and look into charity shops or dragging her less interested friends to the
garden centre and fish shop. She adores small animals and loves to observe them,
it can be anything from a snake to a snail to a fish, Myrtle loves all of them.

Dear Diary,
Valentine's day is tomorrow and I have only just finished the perfect gift for my valentine! I really hope that she is going to love it. I spent the entire day working on it with my sisters. <3 They helped me to get everything in the right places and told me whether or not I had missed a spot.
We headed to a pottery painting class. I spent a good ten minutes browsing the shelves in search for the perfect present, and then I found it! It was sat between a mug and an awkwardly grinning unicorn. I sat down with a couple of cups of tea and a flapjack to paint the piece that I had chosen.
It was a picture frame, but I may have dropped it. It's the thought that counts though, right? I taped it back together with washi tape that Eden gave me before I repainted it to hide the tape a wee bit better. You can kind of see the floral pattern through the paint, but I think it gives it a unique appearance. It's extra special.
I painted it her favourite colour and wrote some silly messages onto the back in mine that I really hope she'll like. It's filled with several of our inside jokes and random thoughts that we've had throughout the entire time we've known each other.
It was really fun to make and I think I'll do something that I have to paint and decorate myself again for birthdays and christmas, maybe a mug next time?
I plan to give it to her after school, maybe we'll go to the park and have a walk around? We can take a picture while we're there and maybe she can replace the one that I put in there with that. It's just a silly selfie that we had taken while wandering around the trees behind her house.

what kind of gift did they give to their valentine?: Lyra is very fond of poetry and she's always searching for quotes. She keeps a journal full of both the quotes and her favorite poems and stories. For her Valentine, she made a blackout poem somewhat similar to this. She also wrote down quotes, reasons why she loves them and her favorite things about them on slips of paper. She made one for every day of the year and she put them in a jar so every day they could see a different piece of her.

Vasyl has a slicked back aura, one that feels like you might be getting screwed by a sketchy cars salesmen kinda vibe, but yet you can’t help but fall under his spell and give him what he wants. He is able to use his words and manipulate even the most stubborn people into doing what he wants them to do. Vasyl has always held the gift of being a manipulator, and a good one. Fear not though! He only steals from the rich and gives to the poor. He see’s himself as a vigilante sort of signal for everyone. His voice is erotic, and smothers ever you like the tide pooling onto the sand. He is so intelligent in his ways, and his ability to read people and those around him at all times. He knows how to read a room - exits, entrances, places to hide, places to fortify – in a split second.

His narcissistic but successful tendencies don’t go unnoticed, and he has quite the following of other boys who worship their own thieving king. He has the ability to create such a believing lie in a matter of seconds has saved him from plenty of skirmishes from bandits and ruffians of all kinds. But his chaotic mind always gets him into those situations and he just can’t help but push the red button, even if it says, clearly, NO TOUCHING.

One of the things his followers like about him is the fact that he is realistic, and will always tell them straight up what they are doing wrong. He doesn’t beat around the bush and try and spare feelings. He feels as if one should always be honest and always tell the truth no matter how harmful. He once said, to the largest man in the bard, 6’7, 350 lbs. of pure muscle, “Your beard is the ugliest beard in the world.”

……He ran so fast, some only saw a trail of dust behind him. Oh well. He honestly didn’t care, he got the mans wallet anyways so it wasn’t too big of a deal.
