Story: once upon a rhyme.... wait that's not how it goes? Ok, I'll try again. *ahem* Once upon a chime... wrong again? How's it supposed to go then? ...Ah, yes, that's what I meant to say! Once upon a time, there was a skunk, and no, he did not stink, none of the skunks did back then. He smelled beautiful, like a summer rose garden. ... what do you mean roses stink? Stop interupting my story! Anyways, this lovely smelling skunk thought he was better than all the other animals because he didn't stink like musty fur. Soon the other animals grew tired of his bosting and ignored the skunk as often as they could. The skunk, caught up in his haughtiness, pretended not to notice. Then as summer turned to fall, and the wind blustered and bellowed, skunk met a dog. Now, this dog was ravenous. She has not eaten for a week, and when she smelt the skunk she thought, "mmm that would make a fine supper for me!" And if not for a small rustling of leaves, the skunk would have been gobbled up. He jumped back in surprise and ran as fast as he could, with the dog snapping at his heels! "Help, help!" He cried, but no animal came to his aid. "Oh please," he begged, "is there anyone that can save me?" "I can," a mysterious voice replied, "but you have to give up something you treasure" "yes, please, I'd give anything!" The skunk exclaimed. Soon he noticed a horrible smell wafting around him. The dog halted in her tracks, her appetite lost. Wide eyed the skunk celebrated his victory thanks to his unseen savior, and waited for the smell to go away... but it didn't. Dismayed he realized he had given up his beautiful smell in exchange for his life. But, after many months, with nothing to obsessively brag about, he made new friends, and word spread to the other skunks about his adventure. Soon every skunk asked the mysterious voice to help them too... and that is why skunks stink! ...now how did you like my sto- ... looks like you're asleep already, goodnight you little stinker.
