Above us, stars. Beneath us, constellations.
Five billion miles away, a galaxy dies
like a snowflake falling on water. Below us,
some farmer, feeling the chill of that distant death,
snaps on his yard light, drawing his sheds and barn
back into the little system of his care.
All night, the cities, like shimmering novas,
tug with bright streets at lonely lights like his.

The sea is calm tonight.
The tide is full, the moon lies fair

The moon kisses the sun goodbye at night,
Stars fill the sky with their soft light.
The shining souls of many past,
Through the nights, their presence will last.
Amongst the living they shall wander,
Searching and seeking, the answers they ponder.
They look to you and they look to me,
But their eyes we shall not see.
They are missing and they are lost,
Seeking answers no matter the cost.
Someday that will be me,
I'll have a shining family.
Oh, I dream it so,
I'll have so many places to go.
I know I don't really have to say this but I wrote this poem a long time ago while I was going through a really rough time so please don't use it anywhere under any circumstances <3
