prompt; To be honest, if you asked me I would say I have accomplished absolutely nothing in life. I'm just not very good at anything and I leave myself disappointed often. BUT! That's not to say I'm completely unhappy. There can always be good things and there's always room for improvement. So, really I guess this year I'll try to improve myself and get out of my comfort zone more. I'll be starting some new kinda school/uni course thing so I hope that goes well! And if it doesn't, that's okay too. Just remember to smile and it will be alright :3 Although I am trying to open up about my sad feelings more even if it is to just one person. I need to work on that too and that's okay uwu

Prompt; I’ve always been a competitive person. Competition motivates me. Whether it was getting the highest test score, or knowing more of a particular subject than anyone else, or even being one of the first to finish in a warm-up lap for a sport, I prided myself on always trying to be better than other people. I hated it, but I didn’t know what I could do to change it. Constantly. But this all changed when I joined marching band...
It was only logical that I joined. I had been playing French horn and piano for a long time, and music was my passion. Plus, who could say no to P.E. credit? Before the new school year even started, the new members were taught how to march. While it may seem easy, there’s actually a lot of components to marching that make it a tricky skill to master. I pushed myself at every rehearsal, and it paid off, for we started to do drill*. All the newbies were pushed to look just like the veteran members.
Rehearsals were three times a week, and there was no time to waste. Even when we weren’t in rehearsal, we were urged to run through the movements of the show in our heads. The band director read that mental practice is proven to be nearly as effective as physical practice. It was of utmost importance that every single band member did these "mental run-throughs" regularly.
Before I knew it, it was time for our first show. By now, the band director had instilled in the band that all that mattered was that we did our personal best, and didn’t worry about the other schools. And that was what we did. Each member added to the fascinating story that was our show. When the awards ceremony came at the end of the night, I found that I didn’t care about our placing as much as I normally would have. Rather, what mattered to me was sharing an art that told such an engaging and unique tale. I was proud of the band and all that we had achieved.
After a great many competitions, we made it to our regional championships. Instead of worrying about what place we would get, I rejoiced in the fact that we would get to perform our show one more time for a stadium full of eager spectators. Marching band has forever changed my competitive outlook, and I’m happy to have achieved that.
Though marching band is always a huge time commitment, and it can be tiring and frustrating sometimes, the whole band can agree that it is completely worth it. When it comes down to it, every single second of rehearsal is an opportunity to improve. Marching band has taught me that what’s important is to be the best I can be, always. Who cares how I rank in regards to other people?

*drill - choreography for a marching band show

Drawing; Here! - Akemi is in colorguard. They learned something from marching band, too—the value of hard work.

Extra?;
"I always enjoy when I don’t have inspiration for art. The constant nagging in the back of my head to just think of something is the greatest, don’t you think?" Akemi complained to nobody in particular. They unzipped their computer case and flipped open the screen. Quickly typing the password, with furious fingers, they grumbled, for they had made an error and had to start over.
"Geez. Maybe I should have actually taken that typing class! But who am I kidding? That would have given my parents too much satisfaction." The kalon laughed sarcastically, and proceeded to scroll through images of plumeria flowers. Suddenly, a new email popped up on their screen.

    From: Mom
Message: I should hope that you’re going to the college extracurricular fair today, honey. It’s the least we can expect from someone who neglected all their classes just to focus on art. Hopefully you’ll find some smart people to hang around, and maybe they’ll rub off on you. After all, you’re only a freshman in college! You still have time to turn yourself around.
    Love,
    Mom

P.S. How’s your roommate? Be sure to tell me all about them!
Akemi started to read the message, but changed their mind and rolled their eyes.
"Why do I even try with her? It’s always the same old, same old."
They picked up a pencil and started to sketch mindlessly, losing themself in their work.
"How long have you been drawing? That looks really good!!" A small, but peppy kalon walked up behind them, her slick ponytail swinging behind her.
"Why do you care?"
Oblivious to the sarcasm dripping from Akemi’s voice, the kalon responded, "Because it’s the recruitment fair today! Don’t tell me you haven’t gone!"
Akemi sighed. "I’ll have to disappoint. Sorry, Opal."
"Don’t worry, we can still go now! C’mon!" Opal grabbed the reluctant Akemi’s paw before they could protest, and dragged them out of the room.

The quad was filled with vibrant colored tents, and the music of a thousand voices filled the crisp fall air. Before Opal could even consider checking out the tents, Akemi’s stomach growled.
"Let’s get you something to eat!" Opal squealed. Before Akemi could protest, they were in front of a glittery table filled with cupcakes and other baked goods.
"Hi, what would you like today?" A young man smiled at them, gesturing to the array of sweets.
"Um... I don’t really want anything, thanks." Opal elbowed Akemi hard. "I mean... I’ll have a citrus cupcake!"
The two kalons exchanged cash for cupcake, but the man stopped Akemi before they could leave.
"Have you ever considered joining colorguard and winterguard
1?"
"Why would I do that?" Akemi snapped, clearly regretting being dragged out of the familiar comfort of the dorm.
The kalon looked taken aback for a moment, but composed himself in an instant. "I’m guessing you’re an art major. Are you not?"
"It’s an art magnet school. Of course I am."
"Then you’ll understand the importance of making art," he said simply.
"How can waving a flag around on a football field make art?"
"How about this: watch the video of our winterguard at championships. If you still don’t think it’s art, feel free to go and insult the guard all you want. But if you think it’s art, then I’m dragging you to the prospective meeting for new members."
"Fine, it’s not like I’ll lose, anyways." The purple kalon rolled their eyes and turned their attention to the screen that was produced.
Kalons in gray costumes circled a golden-clad figure, and gracefully walked around it. All at once, a world of colors exploded. The kalons spread out across the floor, and whipped out silver flags. From the figure, a single kalon leaped out, spinning a sabre
2. As the show went on, Akemi took in the story that was being told. Perhaps they were wrong about this. Both winterguard and their paintings aimed to do one thing—tell a story.
The video came to an end, and the kalon stared Akemi right in the eye.
"Fine... you’re right," Akemi admitted.
"Okay, 'Me,'" they quipped.
The kalon laughed. "It’s Cameron."

"What have I gotten myself into?" Akemi complained to Cameron. The large amphitheater was filled with the dull buzz of voices, and there was a clatter every few seconds as a rifle 3 or flag fell to the floor.
"Attention everyone!" a voice boomed. Will all prospective members please file into the seats?"
"Well, that’s your cue. See you on the other side," Cameron grinned. Akemi reluctantly sat down and watched as the kalons performed the winterguard show she had seen on video. Somehow, it seemed different. They watched in awe, as the guard performed seemingly impossible feats that, in sequence, told a unique story.
And all too soon, it had ended. "Any questions?"
Akemi raised their paw. "Cameron, the feeling of the performance was different than that video!"
Cameron burst into laughter.
"Cameron... I’m waiting."
His laughter died down, and he replied, "Guard is a performance art, and we can interpret and express things differently every single time. That’s the beauty of it."
Akemi thought about it. Never had they experienced something so dynamic and fluid before. Before a sarcastic remark could come to their head, they smiled.
After the meeting, Akemi walked up to Cameron, their mask of indifference back on. "I’ll be joining you this season, but don’t expect much from me. I’ve found that I can never deliver what people ask of me."
He sighed. Would they ever stop being so mordant? He finally replied, "Too late. I know that you’ll be able to do great things. And no matter what, you’ll have the whole guard to back you up and support you. I look forward to working with you this season."
Cameron thought he saw a hint of a smile on Akemi’s face before they turned on their heel and left, leaving an aura of mystery in their wake.

1 winterguard is a colorguard but without any marching band members
2 basically what it sounds like, a sword, but safe for spinning and other visual effects
3 another piece of guard equipment, shaped like a gun/rifle

prompt; I could never ride a bike. As a little kid I would push down the street only to wobble and fall over. None of us knew why, intill second grade. "Your child can't see the board" my teacher said so we went to the doctor.
"She's pretending! Can she even read!" Shouted the doctor, I took great offense in this as I was reading the second book of Harry Potter at the time, and so this annoying doctor gave me the wrong prescription and it started again. Finally we found a good doctor, who got me a good prescription and it was time to try again. I shot off down the cobbeled streets of the near by academy which was a very flat surface great for biking on. I zoomed off and did it! It felt so good, the rush of the wind though my hair and the smell of the sweet wet air. I could bike!

Prompt: I've been swimming most of my life, and I've been on a team for 6 years now. My accomplishment was winning the first place ribbon, out of all the people competing, I won. It maid me so happy I was speechless! I started out on an practice team for almost a year, then I went straight to the advanced team. At first I was really confused but I got hang of it, I started rapidly progressing. When I went to my first meet I was so nervous, I was only 9 at the time, but I knew from that day forth I would try my best at every practice, to. Practice is still one hour and thirty minutes, 3 days a week; 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Going to meets and practice every week made me so happy, even though I didn't have many friends at the time. All my life used to be was; school, eat, swim, sleep rinse and repeat. I eventually got 10th place ribbons, then 7th, and then 8th. Many meets and practices later 4th and 5th place. My coaches where pushing me, I'm happy they made me try new events at swim meets, but I just really just focused on my favorite stroke the Butterfly. I started to get 2nd and 3rd place ribbons and metals, it made me so happy! I Eventually was stuck, not getting any faster, not being able to breathe, and I was hurting my muscles. It was an on and off thing, but then I started to get back on my feet, and that's when I got my first, first place metal. My mom was so proud of and supported me and still is to this day. Now I've started Water Polo as another sport I play now, I enjoy them both so much!

➤ what have I accomplished? ➤
i think my greatest accomplishments are my friends. i don't have many, but the ones i do have are really close to me and one of the most important aspects of my life. as an only child i really have nobody to talk to, and my friends help me combat my overall loneliness. they always find a way to lift my mood somehow, and i really don't know what i'd do without them. my friends are the best people i know and i'm proud to have met and known them. i'm really appreciative that i've had the chance to talk to them and be with them.

I don't really see myself as achieving much. Maybe I am a bit of a pessimist, haha --
but I do think one thing I've accomplished is... getting somewhere with my art.
Drawing is my favorite thing to do! I want to become a great artist and make something of myself in that way.
In a sense, I suppose I have made something of myself. My friends and acquaintances believe in me.
Many people online also seem to think I am good.
I don't want to let them down -- I will continue to improve myself any way I can!!
Please keep believing in me!

I'm terrible at backgrounds, but I'm going to work on that eheh;;;;;
