xGreetings and salutations, friend! My name is Mica, after the shiny substance found in granite, other rocks, and crystals. Okay, fine. My real name is Michael, but I’ve never liked that name. I’ve always been fascinated by rocks, and would often dig around for them in the muddy banks by the river. I’d come home covered in dirt and grime, holding the shiniest rock of them all. I soon found out there was a mineral known mica. It was so close to Michael that I insisted to be called Mica instead. As you might guess, mica is my favorite thing to find. I don’t go searching for rocks as much anymore, but I still keep a small collection at home.
Anyway, enough about my boring hobby. That’s what my friends say, anyway. Unfortunately, most people don’t share my interest in such a thing. I’m sure you, too, don’t want to sit here and listen to me drone on about
rocks.
I guess I’ll talk a little more about myself. I’m a member of Vesi, born and raised by the river. I don’t really spend much of my time in the water, as I prefer not to get wet. Crossing the river is rather unpleasant for me, so I tend to stay on the side where my home is. I live in a clump of bushes with a sort of den dig into the middle of them. It’s a common way to create homes down here by the river. Puu refuses to let us make our homes up in the treetops. Don’t tell anyone I said this, but I think it would be quite fun to live up there! Sometimes, I wish I was born into Puu clan. They always seem to have so much fun. Down here it’s just swim, catch fish, and wade around in the mud.
Seriously, though. Don’t tell anyone I said that.
In my free time, I like to wander up and down the river, looking for things that may have washed ashore. It’s said that this Island was never inhabited by humans, but I’ve gone far enough upstream before to spot an old and weathered lean-to up against a dying tree. I got a good lecture that day for going out of the territory that far. Was in huge trouble and all. Now, I’m a lot more careful. Sneaky, when I have to be. I like looking for human-made artifacts. Rarely, strange objects will wash up on our banks, coming in from the ocean and down the stream. I have a little hoard of them hidden in the bushes of my den. My favorite is a shiny, circular object with a chain of some sort attached to it. It has a little white face on the front with twelve black ticks around the circle. Two arms point at the third tick and the fifth tick. I’m guessing that those little arms moved at one point, but the water must have damaged the device. Honestly, I have no idea what it could possibly have been used for, but it really is a beautiful object.
Anywho, thank you for stopping by! I really appreciate you coming to talk to me. I don’t get many visitors. Ah, and thanks for keeping my little secret c;
