Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. All of our animals are special and deserve a chance to be happy with an owner that will care for them. The question is: are you ready to love them?

Troy's favourite place to sleep is snugly inside a rectangular box planter that you'd normally use for placing flowers, and the like, just underneath window sills. I know, it sounds pretty uncomfortable, and very much like a tight fit. But this dog, she cannot control herself. Once she sees those planters, she has just gotta unbury the flower beds to plant herself inside. And I know, it's really odd and outlandish for a dog to desire to sleep in such a place. But I promise it all makes sense once you know her previous owners.
---Before arriving at the shelter, Troy had quite the loving home. It was a home that occupied a very much in love, elderly couple. On the occasion, the kids and grand kids would stop by for a sleepover or whatnot. It was a small place, with a big family. More often than not it was filled with warmth and laughter. Never a dull moment. But you see, the elderly couple were very much into the Greek culture. It was why they chose to get a small Greek domestic dog, and all their kids names were loosely based off Greek gods and goddesses. Unfortunately in Troy's case, she was thought to be a he, and was named after their favourite local Greek restaurant. Not that Troy ever truly cared, she was just happy to be in such a kind home. But alas, the elderly couple were so use to reading bedtime stories and the like for their family, they didn't stop when they got Troy. Every night they had read the stories of the Greek to Troy. But the Greek stories didn't always have happy endings. Some of these stories really got to Troy and quite startled her to the point that she'd want to hide away. Strangely enough, the elderly couple had a bunch of empty planters laying around. They had always dreamed of planting some flowers to liven the place up more, but it just not happened due to their old age. These planters were what Troy believed to be the perfect thing. They helpped her feel secure and safe. Especially when being outside where the open world is endless. No walls or boundaries. Nothing to keep the terrors away from her.

Username: Imaginary
Name: Kerrin (Hebrew - beauty)
Sex: Female
Collar: x
Favorite Place to Sleep & Why?: Kerrin loves to cram herself into tight spaces, such as underneath sofas and tables. Originally, her intent wasn't to spend her time there asleep, but every time she would get comfortable, her eyelids would get heavier and heavier, despite her best efforts. She's got at least two beds that her owner got her, and while she uses them, she much prefers her random selection to doze off. Kerrin's a pretty skittish, shy dog, one you might even call paranoid, and you'd think that being confined in a small space would freak her out. However, it's quite the opposite. She can really catnap anywhere, but the more comfortable she is, the easier and faster she'll fall asleep. She likes having no space between her and whatever she's sleeping against, and for this reason she also loves being tucked into blankets. She tends to think of it being that if there is no space around her, nothing can touch her. Being the anxious girl she is, Kerrin also is more comfortable sleeping in restricted areas as they make for quick, easy but useful hiding spots. Much like an anti-social cat, she will dart off into a reserved spot the moment she's frightened or needs quiet, as well as when anybody she doesn't know is in her house.
