gemstone and fact;; "Well-crafted obsidian blades, as with any glass knife, can have a cutting edge many times sharper than high-quality steel surgical scalpels, the cutting edge of the blade being only about 3 nanometers thick. Even the sharpest metal knife has a jagged, irregular blade when viewed under a strong enough microscope; when examined even under an electron microscope an obsidian blade is still smooth and even." source
the design is so beautiful!! The name is based off Greek mythology and the sea nymphs.

Obsidian's fine to give a fact for, yeah. c: It's been considered/used as a gemstone for a long time.
And thank you!

Rubies are among one of the four traditional gem stones, and throughout history it has had various traits associated with the gleaming red stone. Power, Protection, Peace. Warriors would wear them as tailsmens, believing that they would help protect them in battle. People in ancient India believed that Rubies helped them make peace with their enemies.

gemstone and fact;; Opal; they are formed by rain. It is believed that they are formed when water from rain seeps down into crevasses in the rock. Once the water evaporates, the silica that is left behind dries out and hardens into precious opal.

gemstone and fact;; Smithsonite, named after its discoverer (who also founded the Smithsonian in Washington, DC, USA), is one of the rarest compounds to be found in solid crystal form. It is usually pink, green, or blue, and it is botryoidal, which means it grows in "bubbles" or "grape" shapes.

my favorite gemstone is the star garnet! they're gorgeous stones, and usually purple or plum, and have four 'rays' in the star marking that makes the name. a fun fact about them is that the star garnet is Idaho's official state gem!
