Note: Keeping the kits connected to family is not required, however I do ask that you acknowledge at least that Solace and Soul will remain in-character parents. All connections can be broken, and even memory lost, but this is their preferred origin.

Please take a moment to read through the rules! These rules apply to each contest.
✸ You may enter for multiple kits, but you may only win one.
✸ Each contest will be judged primarily on your character development and ideas for the kit. Quality matters in that it shows effort, but quality work from user to user will vary considering there will be entrants of many ages and abilities. I will consider this in judging.
✸ You may: commission artwork/writing, work in partnerships, pretty up forms, create entries in another thread, create offsite entries. Note: None of these will change your chances off winning.
✸ You may: create your entry in any time period/AU, keep your kit separated from family, have your own kalons "adopt" or create other relationships with your kit, choose any gender/identity for your kit, etc.
✸ You may not: use uncredited artwork, have one partner do all the work (please make it clear that each partner is involved by crediting work in some way), change the personalities/stories of the parents, show hostility towards other entrants

Family Information
Solace - MotherA goddess long ago, Solace gave up her immortality in a quest to understand for herself the struggles and beauty of mortality. In her eyes, mortality is everything. She has always been fascinated by the way mortals work together to survive, and deeply desired that experience for herself. While she still spends time bridging communications between mortals and the gods, her primary interest is in learning more about every individual she meets. Their stories are fascinating, and she is an excellent listener.
Having children of her own seemed like a far-off dream until she was blessed with the companionship of Soul, her lifelong partner. Neither one having a discernible age, but aware of their mortality, at least, the two waited to have children until they felt they understood enough about raising children—most of which was learned from travelers and visitors to Solace's temple where they reside. When the day finally did come, she was overjoyed to welcome three winged blessings and a fourth, wingless, to their home.
Convinced that the only way her children could truly experience the world was through experience outside of the temple, she and Soul agreed to send them out at a young age to discover the world for themselves. She sent each child winged child a locket necklace bearing her symbol, inside, a note to remind them of her and Soul's love for each of them. Completely unaware of where the world may take them, she waits unendingly for their eventual return, or for news of their great adventures.
The fourth child, Endeavor (though endearingly referred to as "Dea"), remained with the couple as when the time came, they could not bear to let their home be emptied again. Solace has shown with him her deeply compassionate side, taking him literally under her wing and teaching him to commune with the gods as well. She has, however, kept him unaware of her true origins, afraid it will change his perspective on the world and twist his sense of belonging. She does her best to be guiding, though not overbearing, but finds it very difficult not to cave to the needs of her beloved son. In her, he has awoken another fear that should the others not have left, they would all have been just as sheltered and spoiled. While she wishes with her mothering heart to have them home again, she also fears their return for what she might do to taint their views on the world.
More History
Soul - FatherOnce a solid marble statue, Soul was given life by the gods as a final gift to bring constant company to Solace's side. His soul was not created for the purpose, but rather taken from the afterlife and brought back into the world with few memories of his past. While he has moments of curiosity about his shadowed former life, most of Soul's concern dwells within the present and more so, the future.
A man of few emotions, he has never laughed and smiles are rare. His rebirth into a stone form seems to have muted his personality also. While he can be difficult to read and nearly impossible to take lightly, he does have a great capacity for emotions below the surface. Introspective and endlessly hopeful, he found himself wanting children even before his partner. He spent much of his time interviewing and consulting with those around them, learning everything he could about what it meant to be a parent, and what to expect with a mortal childbirth. When Solace was finally convinced they were ready, the smile on his face was clear as day.
While Solace found it difficult to part with her children, for Soul, it was nearly impossible. Watching them go sent him into a deep grief, only saved by their remaining son and his love for Solace. Still, he spent many of those first weeks alone, weeping for the pieces of his heart that had been torn away from him. It was difficult for him, in this time, as strange and foreign memories began to surface. Even Solace's prayers for him could not stop the pain he felt, and for the first time she was helpless in his sorrow. But over time, and with the bright-eyed Endeavor to show the ways of the world, his hidden sorrows ended as he stepped in to be a father to his son.
Not at all sharing in Solace's concern, Soul waits desperately for dreams, visions, any stories or signs of the return of their children. It is his greatest hope to someday be reunited with the family, and to finally get to be the father to each of them he did not have the opportunity to be.
Endeavor - BrotherKnowing little of his siblings for the young age at which they all left, Endeavor considers himself effectively an only child. While his mother sees the best of him in his studies of prayer and piety, his father sees a more realistic picture. Despite Soul's difficulty in showing emotions, Endeavor finds a special connection with his dad. Perhaps it's the relief of not being so overtly loved to death, or perhaps he just appreciates some time in the real world outside of gods and the temple.
Still young, soft-spoken, and unsure of his lot in life, Endeavor has just begun to experiment with little things—slipping out of the temple after dark, or spending entire afternoons in the nearest towns. He bears the same faint halo as his mother, which many other children recognize for their parents' visits to the temple. He enjoys the attention he gets, though, for the questions about his mother's wings, or life in the temple, or his skills in reaching the gods. Feeling fairly isolated, though, he struggles with how to respond to his parents' affection. He knows they love and care for him, but he also feels restrained in the confines of the temple and with how infrequently his parents take him out. He has a yearning for more in life, but an internal struggle in the exact means of how to achieve this freedom.
Instilled from a young age with a strong moral compass, he knows there are ways to escape, ways to feed that desire, but… those ways are wrong… aren't they?
