Jett is a bit of a coward at times. He isn't very brave or adventurous though his friends try hard to break him out of that shell. He isn't one for conflict of any kind but in particular any conflict that could turn into a fight. He is certainly more of the flighty type when danger comes around but despite his cowardice, he is a good friend. He might not be the type to jump into a fight to defend them, but he is the type to be there afterward whether it's congratulating them or consoling them. He's good with his words and when he's not fearful of a conflict he's quite good with knowing exactly what to say to make a friend feel better. He's the type of guy that can change a bad day to a good one with just a few words of comfort or encouragement.

"What do they always do this to me?" Jett groaned as he sat on the docks, waiting. "And they're late too." He huffed quietly.

Jett had been told to meet up with his friends at the docks by the ocean so they could hang out and fish. But as frequently happened, they were very late or worse they wouldn't show.

"I could be home, comfortable on my sofa watching the TV or something," Jett said with a sigh as he lowered his gaze to the water.

He watched his reflection sadly, wishing more than anything that at least one of his friends would show up as promised. He shifted some, swaying his feet idly as he watched and waited for them. Ten more minutes passed and he was contemplating going back home. But he reluctantly chose to stay, certain that as soon as he left one of his friends would come strolling up and be wondering why he was late.

"Yeah, that would be just like them," He told himself. "Think me the unreliable one when they can't even show up on time."

Jett leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he thought about what he should do while he waited and what he would be doing if his friends had shown up on time. Buried deep in his thoughts, he didn't notice the small bubbles and changing the current. He was completely unaware of a large shadow in the water swimming over towards the docks where he sat. It wasn't until the shadow was within feet of his own dangling paws before he realized something was there. His eye's attention was drawn to the dark shadow and the tip of a tail fin that had surfaced for only a moment. His fur stood on end as he scrambled to try to get up and away.

"Is... Is that a shark?!" Jett panicked, still trying to get away from the water.

In his panic, his overshot and ended up falling over the side of the dock into the water. His pulse skyrocketed as he was falling and he began to flail out desperately to get out of the water. He was still flailing beneath the water when something grabbed him and hauled him to the surface. He sputtered and hacked, coughing up the water he had inhaled while he was submerged. He gasped, still struggling against the grip of whatever or whoever had a hold of him.

"Calm down," A voice said with a light-hearted chuckle, "You're alright, here let me help you back onto the dock."

Jett hesitantly looked back at the person who had saved him. A viscet? He questioned, eyes widening. "We have to get out of the water! There was a shark swimming right by the dock!"

The viscet chuckled again as she helped hoist him back up onto the dock, "I highly doubt that besides I swam all the way over here. I would have seen a shark." She said reassuringly as she watched him steady and try to calm himself now that he was out of the water. After a moment she grabbed the dock and hoisted herself onto it beside him, her fish-like tail swaying behind her.

Jett looked at her stunned, "Wait, you swam over here?"

"Mhm, I sure did." The viscet paused a moment as she realized something. "Oh! I'm so sorry! Did you think I was the shark?" she chuckled softly, "I didn't mean to scare you. I just wanted to see if you wanted some company while you were waiting. My name's Marilla by the way."
